Samantha's POV
My phone kept ringing. Josh had been trying to call me ever since Jake and I were on our way to the airport.
I would have answered but I don't think I'd be ready. He would probably tell me that he and Ara were now together.
My heart aches really bad every time I remember seeing the article online.
I told myself not to read anything about him but these past few days, I can't help it. Ever since he decided to break up with me, I just watch their videos and everything about them so I can still see him. Yep. I know it's a stupid move if I actually really wanted to move on but I love him. I don't think I can easily move on that fast. Or if I can move on from him at all.
But after reading the news of him finally moving on, it hits me. It's now over.
I had been patient. To be honest, I was still hoping that he'd come back to me. That one day, he'll knock on my door and told me he still loves me...that there is a reason why he did that and said those words to me.
It hurts to realize that your first love is finally over and the first person that made you feel special doesn't feel the same way anymore.
No more hugs and kisses. No more daddy jokes... No more contagious laughter... No burning of phone lines and sweet random messages... No more you and I because now, it's just you and her...
No us.
They say 'First love never dies'. In my case, I hope it dies easily or I might die early in the process.
These past few days, a lot of things had come to my mind. Different scenarios played in my head.
Will it still hurt like this if I actually did not entertain my feelings for him?
If I made a different choice, will I still feel so broken?
My grip on my phone tightens when I saw his name flashing on my screen, a picture of us showing. He had that sweet smile on his face while I was sleeping. I can't even remember when he took that photo.
I don't even have the courage to delete his photo nor block his number.
Why do you have to call me now? Is breaking my heart multiple times isn't enough? Or are you planning to crush my heart into pieces?
My chest tightens after remembering the pain of my last conversation with him.
"Hey, give me your phone." my brother said while he was driving. I gave him my phone and he did something to it before giving it back.
Then I realized that he put it in airplane mode. I did not even object.
I pull out my earphones and decided to listen to some music. And then I closed my eyes.
My eyes snapped back open when I realized that all of the music on my phone was actually theirs so I decided to pull out my earphones and sigh.
"Are you okay?" my brother scanned me with a concerned look in his eyes. I just smiled, though I'm sure it never reached my eyes.
"Are you sure you want to do this?"
"What?"
"Running away..." he said.
My eyes went back to the view in front of us.
I guess I'm running away, huh.
"That's what I'm good at anyway. And it's not like me staying would make any difference. I'll use this chance to heal myself, so..." my voice trailed down sinking deeper than my thoughts.
"He's been burning my phone line along with the boys. Don't you think you need to at least hear him out, for the last time?"
He looked at me dearly then sigh.
"Noona, I have known him for so long and I trust him so much that I'd still ask if you can still give him a chance regardless of what happened. This is coming from me as his friend but as your brother, I am willing to punch his face again just for you," he added.
"I don't know..." my voice weak. "I'm---I'm afraid to get my heart get shattered into pieces agian. I guess now, I only have you and my family..." I smiled bitterly.
He looked at me, his eyes getting a little cloudy. "You know you have a lot of people who got your back right?"
"Of course. You know what, you should meet my friends. I have Rosie and Lisa. They're so sweet."
"Tsss. I'm not interested in girls."
I chuckled. "Whatever floats your boat, mister."
I looked around when I realized that we've already reached the airport.
Once my brother had successfully park our car, we went out and he reached for my luggage.
"Are you staying there for a year? Ge'ez. Did you pack your whole closet?"
I just shake my head in amusement.
"Why do you even complain when you would carry it anyway? Besides, that's what your muscles are for. Make the most out of it, babe." I laughed as we made our way inside the airport to check-in.
Once we enter inside of the airport, I noticed some girls looking at my brother. I almost forgot, he is a member of a famous boyband. Of course, not a cap or face mask would stop people from knowing that it's him especially his fans.
"Hey, Jake, now I can say that you're really famous." I said as I nudge him from the side. He just grunts in response.
"You're lucky you're my sister. You do realize the trouble I'll be getting after bailing out on a meeting and sending you to the airport?" he turned around facing me. He cupped my face and smile. "Make sure to call me once you arrive and don't even think about getting a new boyfriend there!"
I just hugged him in response. I am happy on how our relationship ended even if my love life didn't actually turn out well.
"Oh my God, Oppa!!!!!
"Jake Oppa!!!!"
"I love you, Jake oppa!!"
I laughed upon seeing my brother blushed under his face mask. I don't know why he's still not used to his popularity but he transformed into a completely different person on stage. There were several instances in which I caught him openly flirting with his fans when he's on stage, like looking at them straight in the eye for a long time. I pity those girls. Their system must have gotten disorganized that time.
"Jake oppa, you're so handsome!!"
"Samantha unnie, we love you!!!"
"Unnie!!! We love you and Josh oppa!!!!"
"Unnie, you're so pretty!!"
"Samantha unnie, we like you for Josh oppa, please don't leave him!!!"
My eyes automatically went into the direction of the group of girls which started to flock around us.
How did they know about me and Josh? Or is it because of the articles?
But I thought he and Ara are already dating.
"Hey, Jake," I look at my brother who looked at me with the same confused expression.
"Unnie!"
Jake and I stopped walking when two girls walked towards us.
"Unnie, sorry to bother you. Hello Jake oppa!" one of the girls said while the other is obviously trying her best not to fan girl at Jake. I was pretty sure she's shaking a little.
"Unnie, are you really leaving Josh oppa? Don't you love him as well?"
I had to hold my breath in shock, her voice was a little strain. I can tell that she's a little upset about something but I don't even know why.
"I---ahhhmmm..." I don't know what to say. I lower my head in embarrassment, afraid that my tears would start falling again. How can I tell girls these that their oppa doesn't love me back?
Regardless of what happened between us, I still wish for his happiness and I would never wish for his fans to get mad at him or anything.
"Hey, unnie, are you crying?" the other girl said.
My hands automatically went up to reach for my cheeks, and then I realized that my tears started streaming down my eyes. I quickly wipe them away.
"Oh God! I'm sorry." I quickly told them.
"Unnie, don't cry!"
"Josh oppa will be sad if you cry."
I look around and saw almost fifteen girls calling out my name asking me not to cry. Even Jake was amazed.
To be honest, I felt a little relieved, I'm not even sure why.
"I'm okay. Thanks for your concern guys. Ahm, I need to go." I bowed to them ninety-degrees before I yanked Jake's arms so we can go.
"You're still going even after Josh oppa confessed to you?"
I had to turn around and look back at the girl.
"I'm sorry, what did you say?" I said a little unsure if I heard her right.
"Josh oppa just broke a lot of hearts after telling the whole world that he loves you and that he can't live without you but in the end, you're still going to leave him? Ahh, I hate you unnie!" she said almost yelling.
"What? ----wha---I don't understand..." I said confused.
I look at my brother as he immediately grabs his phone from his pocket.
The girls must have realized what is happening based on the shocked look in their eyes.
"Don't tell me---- you haven't read it?"
I shake my head in response.
And then she immediately went to me and showed her phone which I gladly took.
After I saw his picture along with the boys, my heart started pounding really hard.
What is happening?
Then my tears started to fall for the nth time, now, due to happiness after reading everything that he's written. I had to cover my mouth with my left hand.
"He loves me..." I laughed a little... "He loves me, Jake!" I half-yell as I look at my brother who's also smiling back at me.
"I know. And he's actually here. You know what, let's teach your stupid boyfriend a lesson." he smiled cheekily like he has something crazy on his mind.
Oh no, I smell trouble.
