[Planet Edenia Atmosphere]
In a few short hours, the High Grade Ely left the Ethisian home planet, Edenia, in pursuit of her own mission assigned to her by High Ruler Enor.
Accompanying her on her ship were two "Ethisian soldiers" who, for some reason, managed to get their own ship recked while following a fleet of soldiers into space. The soldiers—one Granian shapeshifter and the other a human shapeshifter—sat at the back while the Granian engaged in light conversation with the High Grade.
"High Grade Elyssara," Lord Grania mumbled weakly, making sure to act like a low-level fanboy gawking at their role model, "I couldn’t help but hear High Ruler Enor say you have a mission. Will you be fighting along with the rest of us?"
Ely remained quiet, only wearing a cocky grin as she piloted the ship a great distance from the Planet. Her silence brought an awkwardness in the two soldiers’ guts, especially Skyler.
"Are you...going to answer my question?" Grania asked again, forcing himself to sound more of a suck-up than he wanted to.
"You two have been chosen for a very special mission," she finally answered, her voice echoing with a proud arrogance, "High Ruler Enor has trusted me with a very special mission. He wants me to lead the frontline of this War for our people."
She answered but both she and Grania knew it was a lie. The only one who fell for it was Skyler, the quiet "Ethisian soldier".
Skyler’s silence and nervousness were all too abnormal for the High Grade, so much so that Ely grew suspicious of her.
’She’s onto her.’ Grania picked up on Ely’s interest in Skyler and quickly diverted her attention to something else.
"Why can’t he lead the frontline himself?" he questioned, earning him a sharp glare from the High Grade.
"What sort of question is that?" the High Grade mumbled angrily and then stood from her seat. With a sharp glint in her purple eyes, she stared at the Ethisian soldier and asked again, "Are you questioning our High Ruler’s authority?" Fresh chapters posted on 𝚗𝚘𝚟𝚎𝚕·𝚏𝚒𝚛𝚎·𝚗𝚎𝚝
’Damn you, Grania.’ Skyler panicked as she watched Ely move toward Grania. Not wanting to get in the way, she opted to step aside, only to get stopped by her tail.
"Either you two soldiers were born yesterday, or you’re one of those born and raised in the colonies," she spoke sternly, keeping her gaze fixated on Grania, "but let me advise you properly. You do not question your superior’s decisions.
"You do not question their reasons for doing certain things differently. You do not question their commands and most of all, you do not question who they put in charge in certain positions."
"Yes...we understand," Grania replied nervously, fearing that he might break his cover while Skyler nodded anxiously, "We understand very well..."
"No," Ely dejected, "I don’t believe you have. Never question High Ruler Enor, EVER. It’s an honor for you Low Grade soldiers to have even been glanced at by Enor so I do not expect to hear such crude questions from you, understood?"
"Yes!!" Grania answered loudly and Skyler nodded even more vigorously. After staring at Ely for minutes, she returned to her seat, leaving the two to ponder on her stern warning.
"Anyway, to answer your initial question," she answered Grania’s question with a smile, acting as though she wasn’t furious a few minutes ago, "High Ruler Enor is currently engrossed with more pressing matters. He has to act as a negotiator and mediator for our three allied species since they naturally cannot connect with each other.
"He also has to oversee the amount of resources we’re pouring out into this War and handle every council meeting that we have. Because of this, he has trusted many of his High Grades to lead in his position."
"That makes sense." Grani answered, then sat in silence, not wanting to agitate the High Grade any more than he already had.
"Yes, it does," she answered, "Now, prepare yourselves. We’re about to arrive at our destination."
’That can’t be right.’
Given their current technology, Ethisian ships would take quite some time to cover the distance between them and the Granians who were on the other end of the Ethisian half of the galaxy, even if they were to travel at full speed...or so they thought.
"Won’t it take a while?" Grania asked, hoping not to hear what he feared he’d hear. "It’s not like we can somehow cover such a long distance in such a short amount of time."
Ely remained silent, deciding to let her actions speak instead. With a push of a few buttons, a flick of a few levers, and one flick of the wrist on a joystick-like tool, the ship they were in began to move faster and faster.
They sped past moons and meteors floating in orbit just above Planet Edenia’s atmosphere at an incredible speed until eventually, the ship started to look and feel as though it were stretching.
Grania and Skyler held their breaths and clutched their fingers into their seats as the ship shot into some form of hyperspeed, similar to what their giant rings mounted at the Dwarf Planet did for them.
’They did it,’ the Granian Lord complained at himself, disappointed that they, the Ethisians, had the same technology he considered to be a "game changer", ’They learned how to put these in their ships without needed outside influence. How?’
While the ship sped in its state of hyperspace, the Granian Lord’s mind fell into a series of multiple questions concerning how the Ethisians had learned to harness such a powerful tool that only his people had known.
They couldn’t have copied it that quickly, right?
’Unless...someone’s feeding the Ethisians important information,’ he came to that conclusion, fully convinced that the Ethisians couldn’t have just "copied" hyperspace and hyper speed that quickly, ’we have a rat among us, someone that’s plotting on sabotaging our progress.’
Just as he had come to that conclusion, the sight before them was the final nail in the coffin for Lord Grania who was now fully convinced that someone had fed the Ethisians information.
"We have arrived." Ely smiled, her ship hovering in space as she smiled and grinned at the glorious sight before her whereas Grania and Skyler frowned and shook with fear. "The Granians surely didn’t expect this, did they."
