Fatima’s POV
I walked back to class as if nothing had happened. Halli was following me, she wanted to talk but I didn’t want to so I just ignored her.
When ever she tried to talk to me I’d just avoid her. I was able to keep that up through out the whole day but I knew it wouldn’t last long.
It was closing time and I just decided that I wouldn’t follow Halli’s car. Their driver called me but I pretended as if I didn’t hear him.
Thankfully, it was noisy so if we met again which would most definitely happen, I’d say the place was noisy so I couldn’t hear him.
I could hear him shout something along the line of “where is Halima? I’ve been trying to find her for the past thirty minutes but I can’t seem to find her.” For the past thirty minutes? Where could Halli be? It wasn’t like her to keep the driver waiting for her? It made me a little worried but I shrugged it off.
Now, don’t think I hated Halli because of what she did. Being the responsible one in our friendship had its disadvantages. It meant that I always had to be the forgiving one. I had to just let every thing roll off my back. Sometimes it’s very annoying but if I said I’d allow Halli’s childish behavior to affect our friendship, we would have separated a long time ago. So the reason why I was avoiding Halli was that I was scared that if we talked, we’d end up quarreling with each other.
I had seen Halli heart broken and I wouldn’t want to ever see that again in my life, ever. Halli is not just my best friend, she’s like the twin sister I never had. I know Halli really well and I know that if she had found out that I might have developed a teeny tiny crush on Amir, she would pick up a fight with me and surely call me a betrayer.
As I entered home I was just thinking, what if Halli had heard everything Amir said? What if she didn’t hear a thing and she just wanted to apologize for invading my privacy?
While I was still lost in my thoughts I sat on the my favorite cushion in the parlor and Ammi came and asked me how my day went. I just told her that everything was going normal. She suddenly said I should go upstairs to my room and change which was quite weird. Ammi never told me to change, I just did it and she knew that I would definitely stand up and do my normal routine after school maybe in the next five minutes.
Without arguing with her I just went upstairs and on my way there Ya Sa’eed told me to go and take a shower. I was surprised. I used at least two different types of deodorants and two Arabian perfumes so I definitely couldn’t be smelling.
I just ignored him and went up to my room knowing that he was just looking for how to annoy me. He always did it. It was like his job to annoy me every day. But sometimes I enjoyed it.
Immediately I entered the room, I was more than surprised, I was amazed. Wow!! I could only mutter a wow.
