Compared to the mere 9 cars of Infinity, those two Doomsday Trains can be described as rail behemoths. The first train consists almost entirely of double-decker large cars, numbering fifty or sixty, spanning over a kilometer in length, driven at the front by an intercontinental nuclear-powered locomotive consisting of 6 cars. The entire train is painted in various colors and wrapped in armor made of welded steel plates, now stationed on the Airport track, rows of car lights flashing, resembling a moving double-decker city!
The other train, however, leaves everyone including Lin Xian in awe—it is a silver Eternal Level train, stretching across the Airport platform like a silver dragon. The entire train’s paint and colors are uniform, with over a hundred cars and four electromagnetic railguns placed at the front, middle, and back, giving it a very sci-fi look.
Without a guess, Lin Xian knew that this was the ’Silver Star,’ the Doomsday Train from Yang City Finger Group that Lao Mo mentioned, a colossal creature housing over three thousand people!
The other double-decker train made of steel must be Dragon Mountain No.1 from Dragon Mountain City.
"Wow, what a long train!"
Sha Sha was lying on the dashboard, eyes wide open.
Chen Sixuan looked towards Lin Xian and remarked, "You were right, we are not the only ones who escaped to the Star Orbital and used trains as vehicles."
"That’s for sure." Lin Xian nodded and said calmly, "The world’s rail system is developed, there are always those who seek to survive this way."
Under the darkness of night, Infinity slowly approached the Airport, the tracks gradually widening, with several huge double-decker rail bridges stretching on either side. As Infinity and the convoy drew closer, a large number of searchlights from the Airport began shining towards the train.
A torrent of gunfire and flashes of light erupted at the edge of the Airport, and below those searchlights, under the rail bridges, swarms of zombies were constantly flooding toward the high walls of the Airport, incessantly climbing up, while the automated gun turrets on the walls relentlessly fired, sweeping the zombies away.
"The zombies are increasing, I estimate the Airport won’t hold out for much longer."
Among those groups of zombies, there were also some monstrous creatures and tall Abnormal Bodies constantly barraging the defense walls.
"It looks like we won’t make it till tomorrow, the Airport is going to shut down completely." Lin Xian remarked.
Beep, beep, beep, beep!
The responder resounded, a call from the Airport.
"KH5580, this is the Airport control tower, please slow down immediately, identify yourselves!"
KH5580 was the service number of this antique giant whale 03E heavy gas turbine locomotive, hearing the call, Lin Xian immediately responded.
"Airport control tower, this is Infinity, we have over two hundred survivors requesting to pass through the high aerial passageway."
"Infinity, please stop immediately for inspection!"
"Another inspection?" Chen Sixuan frowned. "They aren’t planning to come aboard, are they?"
Just when Lin Xian felt there might be trouble, the voice from the Airport control tower suddenly came through the responder.
"KH5580 Infinity, permission granted to enter the Airport via Gate D, please wait for the ascending elevator sequence."
KIKI puzzled, "What’s happening? They just said they needed to inspect, and now suddenly no inspection?"
"Maybe now it’s a city besieged by zombies; they simply don’t have the manpower to inspect us," Sha Sha suggested.
"I don’t know, let’s just get in."
Lin Xian pressed the responder, restarted the train, and began driving into the enormous Airport ahead.
A massive gate slowly opened, and behind it stood dozens of heavily armed Iron Guard Brigade soldiers, all equipped with heavy weaponry, Active Exoskeleton Assistance Systems, and night vision devices, vigilantly watching the heavy train entering.
A man resembling an officer stepped forward to check, then looked towards the large convoy behind him and asked Lin Xian, "Are there any injured on the train? We can provide medical support."
"There are quite a few injured behind." Lin Xian responded directly after having just escaped from the Sky Jellyfish, with Shu Qin and Xu Jin’s convoy suffering some casualties.
"Dock at the rail platform, and I will arrange a medical team for you immediately."
Lin Xian and Chen Sixuan felt somewhat enlightened; after so long fleeing, this was the first time they encountered someone actively helping survivors.
"There are casualties among the survivors at Platform D; requesting a medical squad." The officer pressed the talk button near his ear and murmured something, then gestured for Lin Xian to enter.
Doo-woo!... Da-da-da!
On the high platforms on either side, the Close-in Weapon System continuously searched for approaching targets, occasionally firing in certain directions within the city, tracer bullets cutting through the night sky like meteors.
At the gate channel, twelve automatic targeting autocannons continuously locked onto every heat source on the vehicles as the convoy entered, with Iron Guard Brigade soldiers holding guns and searching for suspicious targets, creating an incredibly tense atmosphere.
Behind them, Shu Qin, Lao Mo, and Xu Jin’s convoys all tensed up as they followed the Infinity into the airport platform.
Several spotlights fell on the newly entered train, immediately attracting countless gazes.
"Having fled for so long, it’s the first time seeing so many people." Xu Jin spoke through the intercom channel.
"Having many people isn’t necessarily good; haven’t you seen how the outside monsters are going crazy? If the defensive line collapses, this place will become their buffet," Shu Qin’s tone was not optimistic.
"Ah, it’s been a while since I was here; it has changed a lot."
Lao Mo’s voice came through: "But it seems only one ascension elevator is working. The Silver Star arrived a few hours ago, how come it hasn’t entered the ascension sequence yet?"
Inside the Infinity, Lin Xian looked up at the climbing channel extending into the sky and said solemnly, "These trains including ours can use the Horizon Gate to be pulled up, but it seems like the airport control tower doesn’t intend to open any other pathways..."
"It must be due to concerns about chaos and falls." Chen Sixuan said nervously, "The airport doesn’t have enough personnel and maintenance equipment, and now these trains and survivors’ vehicles are all modified in various ways. Without a safe towing device, there could be risks of slipping off the tracks or even more severe elevator accidents. If that happens, the climbing channel would be completely destroyed."
Lin Xian nodded, what Chen Sixuan said made a lot of sense; decades ago, the trains of the climbing channels were propelled upward through the Horizon Gate coupled with electromagnetic acceleration. The power turbines of the Giant Whale 03E heavy gas turbine locomotive were specially designed for this, but after several decades of improvements and upgrades, brutal climbing has been gradually replaced by climbing elevators, enabling efficient and orderly transit.
"This Iron Guard Brigade seems to have suffered severe losses." Chen Sixuan noted carefully; she saw that the soldiers standing guard looked as if they had been through days and nights of fierce battle, covered in various blood stains and even burnt marks on their combat uniforms.
"There must have been losses of at least a battalion-size weaponry in the valley, and the personnel loss must also be significant."
KIKI also appeared somber, "Even the military is having a hard time resisting; now all we can do is keep fleeing and looking for chances to survive."
The Infinity switched tracks and drove into the airport platform, flanked by two massive Doomsday Trains on either side appearing in the cockpit’s field of view. As Infinity progressed, hundreds of train cars continuously receded from view.
Lin Xian and others watched through the train’s windows, numerous curious survivors peering at their black armored train speeding by.
And these two trains were drastically different in style.
The silver ’Silver Star’ on the left had very neat and high-end interior configurations for each train car, and as his gaze swept over, he could see many beautifully refined residential cars, as well as dining, entertainment, and medical cars. Lin Xian even saw that in one car, many children were sitting in front of rows of high-end desks, studying in a brightly lit space. The exterior armament of the ’Silver Star’ was also tremendously formidable, exuding an air of opulent investment.
The Finger Group was once a well-known conglomerate in Dragon Country, primarily engaging in technology, military industry, and transportation, and it was said that the group also participated in building the Star Orbital. Its strength was undeniably strong.
Seeing this Doomsday Train that looked like a moving Utopia now was indeed an eye-opener for Lin Xian and the others.
"My goodness, with over a hundred cars, this train must have everything." KIKI exclaimed in surprise, elbowing Lin Xian, "Hey, can you scan it?"
Lin Xian smiled wryly; he couldn’t even fully scan the Infinity, let alone scan an Eternal Level moving city.
Meanwhile, on the other side, the train continually retreating in the windows on the left side of the Infinity was starkly different in style from the ’Silver Star’.
This was a train—similar to the ’Infinity’—that had undergone extensive exterior modifications, transforming it into a train fortress. Most of the cars were double-decked, with various paint jobs, and every few cars had cannons and heavy machine guns mounted on the rooftops. Although it was not as long as the Silver Star, it seemed to also have a substantial number of people.
As the Infinity passed by, the life cars of Dragon Mountain No. 1 had many passengers peering out of the windows, the whole train’s exterior armor exuding a wild yet secure aura.
As an intercontinental train modified into a Doomsday fortress, its operating power and internal subsystems were at least several times larger than Lin Xian’s ’Infinity.’ Actually, with Lin Xian’s current twin locomotive configuration, pulling twenty or thirty cars would still be quite easy, but at this moment, he only had so few people, and making armor was a task only he could accomplish, making it difficult to achieve in a short period.
