The living room buzzed with excitement as little Dhruv's first birthday celebration was in full swing.
The colourful decorations and the sweet aroma of the cake added to the festive atmosphere. The family and friends had settled in, and Dhruv was the centre of attention, happily crawling around, exploring the world from his tiny vantage point.
Shravan, the proud father, tried to keep an eye on Dhruv while also making sure everything was set for the cake cutting.
"Shravan, did you check if we have enough candles? We don't want to run out in the middle of the celebration!" Drishti called out to her husband, who was busy arranging the party favours.
Shravan rolled his eyes playfully.
"Yes, Drishti, I triple-checked. We have plenty of candles. Relax! Let Dhruv enjoy himself without worrying so much."
Drishti grinned sheepishly.
"I can't help it. It's his first birthday, after all. I want everything to be perfect."
"Perfect or not, we're going to have fun!" Damini, Drishti’s sister, chimed in. "And I can't wait to see him dig into that cake."
"Well, let's hope he doesn't make a mess like he did with mashed bananas last week!" Shreya, Shravan’s sister, added with a chuckle.
"Oh, that was a sight to see!" Drishti laughed, recalling the banana fiasco. "But don't worry, we've got plenty of wipes ready for the cake smashing."
As the conversation continued, the grandparents joined in with their own playful remarks.
"Hey, honey, remember when you were Dhruv's age? You were just as mischievous!" Vihaan, Dhruv's maternal grandfather, teased Drishti.
Drishti pretended to look offended.
"Are you saying I was a troublemaker, Paa?"
"Well, let's just say you kept us on our toes, just like Dhruv does now." Vihaan said with a wink.
"And he definitely inherited your love for food, Vihaan! Look at how he's eyeing the cake." Divya, Dhruv's grandmother, chimed in.
"He's definitely my grandson," Vihaan said with pride.
"Well, we all know he got his good looks from me." Pratap, Dhruv's other grandfather, joined the banter.
"Oh, please! He's got Drishti and Divya’s eyes, and that's where all the charm lies." Anuradha, Dhruv's paternal grandmother, laughed.
"Speaking of charm, let's not forget how we managed to charm the cake baker into giving us an extra-large cake for free!" Shreya interjected.
"Ah, the power of persuasion!" Damini grinned.
As the cake cutting time approached, everyone gathered around, singing "Happy Birthday" with enthusiasm. Dhruv looked delighted as he clapped his hands, enjoying the attention.
Once the cake was ready, Drishti held Dhruv in her arms, and Shravan lit the "1" candle.
"Make a wish, little man!" he said, leaning down to Dhruv's ear.
"I hope he wishes for more cake!" Damini teased.
"Or a lifetime supply of toys!" Shreya added.
As the countdown began, Dhruv looked bewildered but intrigued.
When everyone reached "1," Dhruv blew at the candle, trying his best to imitate the grown-ups. The room erupted in cheers and applause, and Dhruv clapped his hands, thinking he had done something extraordinary.
"Good job, champ!" Shravan praised his son, lifting him high in the air.
The cake smashing followed suit, and the playful banters continued.
Drishti playfully held a small piece of cake and teased Dhruv, "Here comes the aeroplane, Dhruv! Open wide!"
"Uh-oh, I think we've got a future foodie on our hands!" Shravan pretended to look worried.
"Well, at least he won't be a picky eater!" Vihaan said with a chuckle, shooting a look at his daughter.
As Dhruv giggled and tried to grab the cake from his mother's hand, the room echoed with laughter and joy. Everyone was having a blast, sharing funny anecdotes and making Dhruv's first birthday truly special.

Divyanshi stared at the scene in front of her with eyes brimming with happy tears. She couldn’t thank the stars enough for bringing this joy into her life. Something she had almost given upon.
Vihaan wrapped an arm around her shoulder and pulled her towards him.
“Diyaa..” he called out softly, with all the love in his heart.
“Oh Vihaan! I shudder even imagining what would have happened if you hadn’t come for me all those years ago. I would have been living a life, yearning for you and Drishti.” Divya said, as a tear rolled down her cheeks.
“What do I say, Diyaa. Nothing can counter destiny. The destiny that separated us thirty years ago, brought us together again eleven years after that. And our destiny was in the form of our daughter, Drishti.” Vihaan said with a smile.
