Audrey was good at self combat. Having been on the run has taught them to defend themselves in case of emergencies.
And it was an emergency. She knew they found her and defended herself kicking the assailant hard. He groaned and she knew that was her cue. She headed to the center table to grab a knife but he punched her preventing her from doing so.
The punch landed on her face. She was sure she broke her nose but didn't care about the throbbing pain. She defended herself too tripping him . She saw a red light pointing to her chest and fell on the floor slipping behind the assailant while the bullet hit him .
She hid well taking the assailant's gun as protection. She called the police station and lay down a complaint then resumed.
" Come out bitch. You have no where to go" he warned climbing the stairs . He was surprised when she shot him on the chest . He groaned and fell bleeding profusely.
" Who sent you? Why are you after me? " She asked pointing a gun at him . He was muttering something, she squat down to listen carefully then he moved trying to stab her . She dodged it and it graze her hand . She shot him again making sure he's dead.
She compressed her wound and wrapped it. It's just a graze she concluded. She didn't want to endanger her friends. She's the one they're after for now. It seems they're likely to know since the police are coming.
The cops arrived and saw the two dead men in her living room. They were surprised thus thought she wasn't who she said she is. They checked and saw nothing suspecting.
" Ma'am sorry we came late . I told you to call me direct the other day. You almost died" said detective Victor
" Sorry detective, they were shooting at me. I had to save myself. " She uttered
" Let me see that" he said unwrapping her hand
" You have to treat it unless it'll get infected. I'll send some cops to guard you"
" No need for that. I just want to know who's after my life"
" I'm on it. Do you have a name?
" Pardon me I'm Audrey Zachary. I don't have much friends and no rival"
"What about rival in love or business?
" None. I don't think so. Please investigate more. My life is on the line" she pleaded it seems the hotel is the only safe place for her and Lucas wants her to leave. This is trouble.
" If you're scared to live alone I can show you a place with tight security" he offered as she was staring at his lustful eyes
" Never mind. I can cope. Thanks for the offer. I guess I'll have this treated at the hospital once the paramedics are done . I wouldn't want to ride in a van coupled with corpse " she lamented making the detective scoff
" Let me drop you off . I'm just doing my job. Okay? He offered. He could see she wasn't pleased with his kindness
" Okay. You can take me" she sighed. Victor took her to the outpatient department and she was treated . Her wound was sutured she wore a cast cos she could hardly move her hand.
Lola and Ava were busy people cos of their job. They were mainly traveling. Audrey was the steady one. She typically love a simple life. She wasn't in for the big picture. For once she wished she chose a different job.
Now that she thought of it could Luke want her dead this much? She started having doubts. She knew one thing she isn't going back to her house for now besides the police was using it for investigation trying to identify the assailant.
The hotel has a tight security. She will be safe there for a while.
Victor dropped her at the hotel and gave her his card in case she forget to save it. She thanked him and went inside. Lucas was looking at them through the window. She had plenty suitors he sneered holding back the urge to slap her for letting him touch her. He was disgusted.
Audrey entered the hotel and almost all her staffs rushed to her asking what happened. She lied vividly.
" A drunk driver bumped into my car. It's a minor injury. I'll take the cast off in a week or so. Nothing to worry about" she laughed shrugging her shoulder.
" Then you should be at home relaxing. Don't worry about work" said Delaney glad she won't be coming to work. She can get close to Lucas.
" No. I won't likely get some rest while at home. I'm checking in as a guest. Xander you're coming with me" she ordered as he trailed along.
Victor visited the crime scene and noticed the gun and wondered how she offended such a person. He suddenly had the urge to protect her at all cost. She's in deep shit if it's who he thinks it is.
