Chapter 73 The President's Feelings
"Promise me you won't tell anyone, Bella," Jenny continued and held Bella's hands tightly. "I trust you."
"Of course, Jenny. You know you can count on me," Bella reassured her.
Nodding her head, Jenny sighed and began organizing her thoughts. "First, I want to apologize for what happened that night. We shouldn't have left you alone. It was our fault that you have experienced something so cruel," she said, and tears pooled in her eyes again. "If I didn't leave, maybe n-none of this would happen."
"Jenny, you don't have to apologize." Bella squeezed her hand. "It wasn't your fault. No one wanted this to happen. At least, not between you and Kelvin. Those two men were the ones to be blamed."
"Bella, you're too kind...." Jenny smiled with tears in her eyes.
"Is the reason why you suddenly resigned? You were blaming yourself all this time?" Bella asked. "Jenny, you don't have to make yourself suffer like this. How about this-once you're feeling better, you can come with me to Skytel. I'll try and convince the president to hire you back."
Jenny's eyes widened, and she shook her head frantically. "No, Bella! I can't go back. There's no way I can go back. The president will not allow it."
"Why?" Bella frowned. "I can explain to him that you resigned because-"
"That's not it, Bella. It was the president who fired Kelvin and me!" Jenny sounded really frustrated.
A gasp escaped between Bella's lips as they parted. "What? Why would he do that?"
"You know-I don't know if you're just really dense, but anyone can tell that the president likes you," she replied. "He fired us after we put you in danger that night."
As she was still dumbfounded, Bella shook her head. "I don't think I'm following, Jenny..." she said. "What does the president have to do with this? Did he know what happened that night?"
"I'm not entirely sure, but I think he does," Jenny said and shifted to her position. "That night, I was on the dance floor with Kelvin when people started running and screaming after hearing a loud roar. I was so scared that I ran along with the crowd. It was when I saw the president's car park outside the bar."
Bella became attentive as that was the first time she heard what exactly happened at Queen's Bar from the perspective of someone present in the scene.
"I tried finding you around the vicinity, but I didn't see you. I also heard the police caught some rapists in the act last night. The next day, the president fired us and told us not to say anything about it," Jenny continued. "I'm guessing you were the v-victim... It also happened that you were absent last Friday. I wanted to call to check on you but couldn't bring myself to do it."
Bella pondered on Jenny's words. She remembered seeing the president's dragon mask in her dreams, which only heightened her suspicion that he was the one who saved her that night. Her nightmare was slowly becoming her reality.
Aside from that, Bella could not ignore Jenny's assumption that the president might like her. She honestly did not know what to exactly feel about that.
The memories she accumulated with the president over time flashed inside her head like a slideshow. Despite being cold and indifferent most of the time, she could not help but notice that the president had been very patient and considerate with her.
Bella shivered as she thought about all those things and remembered the photo David had shown Edward. Everyone could see that the president liked her, only she had remained blind.
She could never accept his feelings if it were confirmed that the president was fond of her. His love brought unwarranted disaster to those around her. Besides, she was already married to Edward and had to remain faithful to her marriage.
"Bella, what are you thinking?" Jenny's words brought Bella back to reality from her musings. "You're not thinking of telling anyone about this, right?"
"Of course not," Bella replied. "I will find a way to get you and Kelvin back at Skytel."
"No need!" Jenny exclaimed in fear. "I have already accepted my fate, and I don't want to go back and face the president. I'm already content knowing you're safe and not mad at me."
Bella shook her head. "No. It's not your fault, and you shouldn't be suffering like this," she said with a serious look. "I promise I'll find a way."
With that, Bella left Jenny's house.
However, not long after she and Bella parted, Jenny's phone suddenly rang. Her face immediately turned white, and she almost fainted when she saw the president calling.

Meanwhile, Lanny threw a fit about her transfer. Her arms and legs were crossed as she sat in front of the president's table to relay her concern.
"President, this is not fair!" Lanny ranted. "Shouldn't you be separating my personal life from work? You don't have the right to do this!"
The president grunted lightly and took out a pile of documents from the drawer, slamming it in front of her.
Lanny skimmed through the documents, all anonymous letters other employees wrote to report her wicked ways at work. There were tons of bullying reports that she could not play ignorant and defend herself.
"And are you sure I don't have the right to punish you accordingly?" the president asked coldly.
Instead of arguing with the president, Lanny collected her temper, stood up, and walked to the president's side behind the table. "Of course, you do... I'm sorry I was just so stressed..." she said as she pushed her breasts against his arm. "I hope you can give me another chance. I promise to do my best and return the favor."
The president frowned in disgust and pushed her away hard, using his handkerchief to repeatedly wipe the area she had touched.
Lanny fell to the floor as she lost her balance. She felt so embarrassed to be rejected by the president for the second time. She was so angry that she was about to lose her mind.
'Just wait and see... You'll soon crawl to my feet,' Lanny thought as she consoled herself of her plan.
She had already sent the specimens she acquired to a private laboratory for testing, and the results should be out the next day.
"Lanny, come close now!" The president's voice was like a devil's whisper, seeping out a bone-chilling chill that pulled her away from reverie.
Lanny froze for two seconds, confused by the president's order. He just shrugged her off like an insect not too long ago, but then, he wanted her close all of a sudden.
"Get down on the table," he ordered.
Although she was reluctant, Lanny did as she was told. She moved under the desk, facing the president's lower body, and swallowed hard.
The president then slapped her ass hard. The pain made her scream a moan out of pleasure as he easily turned her on.
"That's it. Scream louder."
The president smacked her ass for the second time, and Lanny went bolder with her moan, just like he wanted to hear. She secretly rejoiced, thinking that she had finally managed to seduce him.
Lanny imagined how the president would tear her clothes, press her to the table, and fuck her hard. However, her fantasies were immediately shattered the moment the president continued to speak.
"Okay. You can go now," he simply said, then pulled himself away from her.
"What?" Lanny was dumbfounded. "Why?"
"Don't ask anymore. I'll give you ten seconds to disappear from my sight," the president ordered sternly.
The truth was he had smelled Bella's scent lingering in the office doorway for a long time. He deliberately asked Lanny to act for him to lead Bella's thoughts astray and avoid further suspicions from her.
