The Vampire Soul Chapter 16

Chapter 15 Vladimir’s POV “You’re going to save an angel?” Stan asked me with a laugh. He repeated it as if it was one of the most impossible things he had ever heard in the world. Well, can’t blame him. I’ve been thinking of it too as an impossible one when I’ve read the last piece of her bucket list where she wrote, save me. “How could you save someone who doesn’t need saving? I mean, Cassy saved us.” "Maybe, I can look for her cure?" I just answer because even I can't tell how. How am I the only one who could save her? "Bro, just ask her." “She won’t tell me. Also, I know she’s listening.” I looked next to me, not just sure where she was sitting. “She told me that she didn’t disappear. I just lost the ability to see her because her blood running through my veins are getting weaker. She is also getting weaker so she can’t stay visible to everyone for too long.” “That explains why she disappeared when the sun sets. Am I right? ” Stan sounded so sure about his conclusion so I nodded. It’s true. She disappeared when the sun sets because she’s getting weak, unlike before she could stay longer with me. “So, I’ll say hi cause she’s here, right?” "Yeah, think so." "It's rude to talk about me, an angel you know." Stan and I were both surprised when she appeared in front of us. "But go on." She said smiling. "Don't worry, I'm getting better, better than I deserve." I did not speak. My attention was focused on her arm, there were black lines circling around it, and her feet no longer landed on the ground, it’s like she’s floating. “You’re floating!” I immediately told her. It was amazing though it also means slowly I am going to lose the ability to see her. “Yeah, getting lighter and lighter as time passed by, sooner I’ll be gone forever,” she said, like it doesn’t hurt. She still has that calm face even though I know she’s hurting. "So, please tell me what to do?" I begged. "You just don't leave like that." “No, I am not leaving like that. Don’t worry, we’ll make every second count. ” She held out her hand to me. “Can I borrow him, Stan? Give it to me as a thank you for saving most of your life. How about that?” "Who am I to refuse an angel?" Stan smiled. In a glimpse, we both disappeared and I found myself standing in my bedroom. “C’mon, don’t use your power,” I said worriedly. "We can just walk or ride -" She didn't finish what I said. She approached me and put on her necklace. It was the mini glass hour she wore before. "I can't stay on earth for long, Chival," she started. "I want to leave you without my memories, to leave like you've always been before after I redeem my grace." "No!" I shouted. "You can not." “I know right. You don’t deserve it for the second time.” I saw her tears slowly falling down to her cheeks. “You don’t deserve it. It's my fault. It has always been - “I ran towards her and hugged her so tight even though I could no longer feel her. “It’s not, knowing you is the best thing that ever happened to me. You are the reason why my heart kept on stealing a beat. You are the very reason for my existence. You are always. I love you, for a thousand years, and to the years that will come so please don’t. Don’t erase my memories, ”I cried, so hard. Then, I remembered she can feel it so I tried to calm myself. "Please, promise me." She nodded. "I promise that I will never erase your memories." “Thank you,” I held her hand. “Then, will you tell me how to save you? How will I help you?” "Create good memories with me until that glass hour stops." She stared at it. "After that, I will disappear in your life forever, Chival." "No, no!" I disagreed. “Is there any other way? There must be another way.” "I chose this way, and you will choose this too." She held my hand tightly. She whispered some chant in my ear that somehow made me calm though I wasn’t sure what it meant. “I can’t stay too long at night because bad dreams keep on coming on me, so let’s just meet every morning. How about that?” She disappeared before I could even say a word. The next morning, I cooked food for her. I prayed every night to see her the next day and maybe she really knows how to listen because I've seen Cassy, wearing her uniform, standing on the ground with a smile on her face as if she's okay, but deep inside I can see how tired she is. She waved at me when she saw me. He left those he was talking to and ran towards me. I greeted her with a hug and I heard her chuckle. "Missed me that much?" "I always do." I held her hand. “C’mon, let’s eat breakfast. And, I’m gonna braid your hair. ” I guided her to the park and we sat under the tree. “Thank you. But I can no longer eat those things. ” She picked up the paper bag. "Is it okay if I give it to the kids at the church?" I nodded. “Yey, thank you. Thank you.” "Do you want me to cook more tomorrow so they can eat more?" "Is it okay?" I nodded which again made her smile. "Yey, thank you." She came up to me and hugged me. I hugged her back. And I kept her from getting away from me. We just stayed at that position for minutes until she pushed away herself. “Braid my hair,” she chuckled. I braided her hair. For the next few days, that’s how we spend the whole day until the sun sets. I would cook food for the children and we would give it to them at the same time. Then she would ask me to go inside the church. She even taught me some of the prayers that she used to listen to people everytime they prayed. I even asked her how to summon an angel, she told me a few things about it like you need a fallen angel blood or some ancient spell to do it but somehow it depends which angel you will call. She didn’t give me the details so I just shrugged it off. She made me remember that the easiest way to summon an angel is to pray. They listen to prayers. They always hear prayers of people who called upon angels. After that routine, we would go to the bookshop. Fermine is the name of that guy. She would give Cassy a coffee to drink, which according to them would make her feel better. I doubt that. I never said it to her but I feel like she’s really getting weaker as days passed. It is also obvious that her face is very tired even though she is not doing anything physically. If only I could catch those dreams. All I could do is to make her happy. To make her feel so happy. To give her happy memories she would never forget. It hurts to think she will be gone forever so as much as possible I don’t really think about that thing. I just go with the flow. I spend most of my time with her. We usually watch movies, go on a date, to an amusement park, ride on a train, watch a concert, and sometimes we would just lay down in the attic to watch the sunrise and the universe float above us. She watched those things while I watched her until she disappeared. I’m also used to her suddenly disappearing in front of me because I know she didn’t really disappear. I know, deep in my heart, that she will come back the next day. I am very sure she would come back to me with a smile on her face. Though today is different.
