The Pregnancy Contract Chapter 100

She walked out not listening to whatever I had to say despite my calling her multiple times but she didn't bother listening to what I had to say and just ignored me not hearing my calls. I groaned out of frustration, feeling threatened by what she just said, and was thinking of ways I could stop or try to convince her not to take such drastic decisions. I tried calling her multiple times but it ended up going to voicemail intensifying my anger. Why was she doing this right now? Why's she threatening to do this? She has to understand that reputation means everything to my family. I decide to call Flora knowing that she's probably there. “Hello,” I say, once she answers the phone. The desperation I was feeling was clear in my tone. “I'm sorry if I'm calling at such an inconvenient time but I just want to know if Ciara is there with you?” I ask. “No, she isn't here, maybe you should try calling her family for more inquiries,” she answered and hung up. I don't even know what to believe feeling that she's probably trying to cover up for her or something but it doesn't change the fact that I couldn't go and barge into her home forcing her to bring her out. I sigh in defeat, naming my way over to the bar counter and drinking myself into a stupor. I'm not sure if she meant what she said but she had every look of seriousness that only terrified me the more I thought of it. “There you are,” I hear footsteps approaching me and turn to see Henrik. He's the last person I'd ever have thought to meet right now. He snatched the glass cop from me, poured himself a glass of wine, and drank everything all at once in one gulp. “What's with the depressed look? You look like someone who got his candy taken away from him,” he teases, bursting into laughter. I wasn't even in the mood for all of his jokes and would have preferred if he just walked out rather than staying here and testing my patience. “Did you hear about the article? It's going viral and I expect you to do something about it,” he stated. He didn't have to mention that because I was already way ahead of him. He handed me his phone showing pictures of Ciara and Alfred, she was being surrounded by the paparazzi as they tried to get around her, taking photos of her. My blood boiled just by looking at the picture, I snatched the phone from him, focusing my gaze and trying to pitch out where the event occurred. I wasn't even able to think straight and had to get up to understand what was going on. “When did this happen?” I asked him. He took a sip of his drink and responded, “Just today, why are you asking?” I couldn't believe that he was asking me such a question. I didn't even have time to sit and listen to whatever he was saying as I had something more to take care of. “Close the door on your way out, I have something else to do,” I say and walk out, not sparing him a moment to talk. I entered my car and immediately sped off to my office. I called Sean– My private investigator, to meet me there as he was the one helping me with the situation. Getting out of my car, I made my way to my office ignoring everyone's greetings as I was already in a terrible mood and just wanted to get things over with. Sean was seated there, already waiting for me. “Morning Evans,” he greeted, but I ignored him going straight to business. “What were you able to find?” I asked. He took a deep breath, probably disappointed that I wasn't able to acknowledge his greetings and just handed me the file. I went through it, listening to all of his explanations while trying to maintain a straight face and my attention fixed on what I was reading. “So, I was able to figure out who published the main article…” he said, grabbing my attention at that moment. Every other thing didn't matter anymore as that was the key point and what I was trying to figure out. “What did you find out? Who's behind all of this?” I bombarded him with questions. He handed me a card to a publishing house. “This is the company that published it, they told me that they got an anonymous tip and I think that you should check it out.” I looked at it, mentally studying all the details of the card. “Thanks for a job well done Sean, you never fail to impress me,” I praised. He smiled. “I'm just doing my job, Mr Leonard, there's no need for all of the flattering,” he said. I nodded in response, getting up from my chair and stretching my hands to meet him. We both shook hands, he left after that while I stood there contemplating whether to go to the publishing house or not. I conjured the thoughts, told my secretary to cancel all the other appointments, and decided to go straight there. This should be a warning to let others know never to mess with Ciara again. I drove there and entered, ignoring the security and everyone trying to stop me. “Who's the owner of this place? Who's the owner of this place?!” I yelled, disrupting the area. A man with a big belly, who looked like he was probably in his forties but aging fast because of his weight. He introduced himself as the owner. “I'm assuming you're the owner.” “Yes,” he nodded in response. “And I'm assuming that you're Leonard Evans, it's such an honor to have you here.” I felt like I could use that to my advantage. “You made an article about my fiance and I want to know who gave you that tip otherwise you can kiss your entire career goodbye.”
