Chapter 117
My teeth had retracted from his neck, and in an instant his mouth covered mine, the taste of his blood remaining on my tongue as, with barely a breath left, he claimed my lips.
His energy swept through me like an avalanche, our mate bond electric tension drawn taut, ready to unleash the force that was building inside of me and dance across our skin as our bodies moved in unison.
The sensation of his body pressing against mine filled my veins with fire, causing my skin to flush and become warm to the touch. Something strange was happening to me; I could feel a plosive pressure growing, coiling, and winding beneath my skin.
A frenzied need for release was developing in my gut, so I dragged him closer to me, my claws raking across his back. As I raised my hips to meet his, I felt an agitation on my spine from his thrusts, which were simultaneously too much and too little.
I pulled my head back against the cushions and stared up at the ceiling as a terrible sensation tore at me from the inside out. I gasped loudly.

He groaned as he seized my hips.

I had experienced being in the throes of release before; he had brought me to tears during that moment, but this was unlike any other.
"Do you feel that?" Gasping for air, I tried to gauge the severity of my question.
The odd sensation returned, as if our bodies coming together had triggered it.

I heard him spout a litany of expletives as my hands pressed into his chest and my hips adjusted to the new posture.

I could feel it when he was unable to hold on any longer because the fire in my veins was burning me to the bone.

By caressing his hand between my legs, he enticed me closer to his person and once more pressed me against the mattress, as if he were merely recovering from his own pinnacle and was aware that I desired more.

My inner force released itself, engulfing the room in a flash of silver light and erupting in a power explosion.
The pulse of time seemed to stop once, twice, or three times.
After a little period of stillness, it wrapped around us, tensing up and firmly locking into place.
He dragged me forward, his eyes going crazy from what he had just witnessed, and I gasped for air.
"You're glowing." I wanted to glance down at myself, but he was holding me too tightly, so he remarked in amazement.
"Did it hurt you? Are you okay?" His arms around me seemed like a vice, as I urgently questioned him, attempting to move against him to see whether he was injured.
Respond to me! "I'm okay, baby—it didn't feel like much of anything." I need to know. It's you whose body has become as active as a fucking light switch. He continued to say, "I'm still in shock," as he moved away from me so I could get a better look at myself.
The light I was releasing was silver in color, precisely like the moon.
"I think Gabriel was right; do you feel any different?"
I didn't experience anything strange, except for the sensation of being pounded in the chest.
"I don't know." I scowled.
Shouldn't the magic Gabriel had described have started working right away if it were real?
"Don't seem very anxious. There is always the option to try again and again and again." I laughed as he pressed his body against mine and held my hands above my head.
"You'd like that, wouldn't you?"
"Very much—very, very much." Once more, his mouth was on mine. It was on mine, providing a temporary respite from the gravity of our situation.
