"I am not in the mood to joke," Emmelyn rolled her eyes after the initial shock. Of course, problems would be solved if she died. However, she didn't want to die in vain.
Last month, she didn't mind dying if she could kill the prince or the king, to avenge her family's death. It would be a meaningful death.
However, she would hate to die for nothing. She was also not keen to joke about death, especially her own.
Mrs. Adler took a good look at Emmelyn and then sighed. "If you loved the man, you might as well stay. But then again as I have said previously..."
"But what...?" Emmelyn didn't understand what Mrs. Adler was trying to say. She tugged the witch's clothes and urge her to speak in complete sentences. "What will happen if I decided to stay?"
"But, as I said... you'll bring him bad luck. If you love him, the best thing you can do is to stay as far away as possible from him." Mrs. Adler. "At least that's what I keep seeing in my divination window."
Emmelyn suddenly felt that visiting Mrs. Adler was a bad idea. She kept hearing bad things about her and the future.
"So... if I want to go, I have to die? But if I decided to stay... I will bring him bad luck? Is that what you're trying to say?" Emmelyn asked in an urgent voice. "How bad? How bad is his luck if I stayed?"
"If you stay, you will bring death to him," Mrs. Adler replied.
"Death?" Emmelyn suddenly couldn't breathe. She had to hit her chest several times to force her lung to inhale and take oxygen. Her face turned pale and her voice was so weak when she asked the next question. "Whose death? His death??"

She loved that man. She wanted to give him what he needed from her before she left him for good. So.. that means, she must take that option to stay and give birth to his child.
But Mrs. Adler said if she stayed Mars would die.
"Why am I so unlucky?" Emmelyn asked in a choked voice. "All my family is gone, now I bring death and bad luck to the people around me? What did I do? What have I done wrong??"
"Nothing.. you did nothing wrong. It's not your fault..." Mrs. Adler shook her head in great sympathy. "Just like the prince and his siblings... they didn't do anything wrong but they have to pay for their parents' sins."
Emmelyn cupped her face and sobbed. She had not cried for a long time. She thought her tears were already dry after mourning for her family for months...
She was devastated by the revelation that she only had two choices to take. Either she died or she would cause Mars' death.

"You know, Princess.. some people don't want to come to witches to read their fortune because they will feel broken by what they hear and lose the motivation to live," said Mrs. Adler.

Emmelyn sobbed for a good while. She felt like being trapped between a rock and a hard place. Maybe she should be honest and told Mars everything and let him help her make a decision?
He knew everything about her anyway. He even knew that she came to Draec to kill him, and he forgave her. He apologized for the invasion and gave her a chance to get Wintermere back.
He didn't know that Emmelyn had fallen in love with him and would give birth to his child willingly. She just couldn't stay.
