Emmelyn put on her new coat and went outside. Mars walked beside her. They walked around the courtyard without saying anything. Mars, who was basically a quiet man, enjoyed the peaceful situation.
He stole glances several times to see if Emmelyn was still feeling upset or if her mood had improved.
She looked okay...
But, did she also feel okay?
"How do you feel today?" Mars asked.
Emmelyn turned to him and shrugged. "Fine, I guess."
"You don't feel anything different?" The prince asked again.
"No," Emmelyn replied. "Not yet."
"Oh, okay."
Mars let out a sigh. The man actually wanted to ask Emmelyn's FEELINGS, not what she was feeling. However, it looked like she might have confused his question.
So, there were two types of feelings, okay. The first one was that feeling, and the second one was this feeling.
Okay.. remember when some women claimed that men don't have feelings?
Well, they are dead wrong.
MEN DO HAVE FEELINGS.
For example, men can feel... hungry.
That's the second type of feeling. Mars wanted to know the first type of feeling.
Did she feel sad? Did she feel trapped? Did she regret the pregnancy and their agreement? Mars really wanted to know.
And did she mean it when she said she didn't want to share the bed with him anymore? Should the prince take the couch tonight?
Well... it looked like he would find out soon enough.
"Ah, I have enough. We can go back now," Emmelyn said after fifteen minutes.
"Okay."
They went back inside and headed to their chamber on the third floor. As they were walking the stairs, Mars remembered that soon, when Emmelyn gained weight and her tummy became bigger, it might be hard for her to take the stairs to their current chamber.
He made a mental note to ask Roshan to prepare a new chamber for them on the first floor. He liked staying on the higher floors because of the views. But now, the view was not worth it if he had to imagine all the hassle of going up and down.
"I feel so full and tired. I will not take a bath with you," Emmelyn announced when they entered the chamber. She already saw the bathtub filled with hot water.
"Hmm.. okay." Mars closed the door and got ready to take off his clothes.
This woman was carrying his child. Of course, he would do whatever she wanted, no questions asked.
Emmelyn washed up and changed into a nightgown, then got ready to get into bed. Before she pulled the blanket to cover her body, she turned to Mars who was stripping his clothes, getting ready for his night ritual.
"Where will you sleep tonight?" She asked.
Mars pointed at the couch. "There."
"Oh..." Emmelyn looked guilty. She didn't know if the sofa was comfortable enough for sleeping, but she knew she shouldn't waver and share the bed with him again. They had achieved the result of their hard work for the past month.
Anything else more than that was unnecessary. If she agreed to have sex with him for pleasure, after their duty to procreate was concluded, he would think she had feelings for him.
Not only was she worried about being found out, but she was worried that her feelings for him would grow even bigger and bigger. Spending so much time with him in this castle had changed her so much.
Now, she even had decided not to kill the king?
What's next? Maybe she would even ask him to marry her so they could become family.
How preposterous!
"I will get the blanket and pillow. It will be comfortable," Mars convinced her.
The girl looked deep in thought for a few moments. She glanced to her side and saw the spacious bed. It would feel weird to sleep in such a big bed alone.
"If you insist to stay in the same room, maybe you can get two single beds for us," Emmelyn finally suggested. "We can sleep in our own bed."
"Hmm... okay, we can do that." Mars nodded. "I think it will be better if we just move to a chamber downstairs. I think I have a much bigger chamber on the ground floor that could nicely accommodate two beds. Once your belly becomes too big, you won't feel comfortable taking the stairs anyway."
Emmlyn's eyes went round. Ahh.. that's right. She didn't think of this. She would be fat and her tummy would be so big, that she would have trouble doing physical activities.
Ahh.. Mars was really attentive, that he was thinking about this.
Emmelyn nodded weakly.
Again, she felt touched... and jealous at the same time.
Why was this scummy prince so attentive toward the woman he didn't even love? How sweet would he be, if the pregnant girl was someone he loved?
"Hey... why are you crying?" Mars was shocked to see tears started rolling down Emmelyn's cheeks. "Did I say something wrong?"
He was terrified that he had said something wrong.
He immediately stopped undressing and came to Emmelyn. Mars sat on the edge of the bed and held her hand. "Are you sick?"
The girl shook her head and turned to the side. She pulled the blanket all the way to her neck and pretended she wanted to sleep.
"I'm fine. I just want to sleep. Please put off the candles once you're done," she said.
Mars was in a daze. Emmelyn had been acting sad and frustrated after they found out about the pregnancy. The prince could kind of guess what she was feeling, and he was sad that he didn't know what to do.
Finally, after waiting for five minutes and seeing the girl didn't move, Mars decided to continue his bath and let Emmelyn alone.
He turned off the lights to help her sleep well and then took his bath. He didn't need light as his eyes could see in the dark anyway.
He soaked in the warm water for ten minutes to relax his muscles and closed his eyes.
He tried to calm his mind to no avail.
