“Mom, do you think I’m a piglet?” Liuli teased, reflecting on how she had sneaked out in the afternoon and hadn’t slept at all.

“Grandma, I’m getting married tomorrow. Will you miss me?” Liuli playfully asked.
“Of course, my dear, but girls have to get married,” Grandma lamented.
“Well, actually, I could have Mr. Tang come here too!” Liuli suggested, a mischievous smile on her face.
“Who are you saying?” Grandma asked in confusion.
“Brother Jingxing!” Liuli smiled.
“You are still joking at this moment?”
Jingxing was the only son in the Tang family.
“They are doing this for our sake.” Grandma Yu smiled.
“But I am the only girl in our family!”
“How could I be married off then?!”
“Liuli, you are getting married, so you are not coming home to visit mom, dad and grandma?”
“Of course 1 will come back to visit you all!” Liuli protested.

Feeling a growing discomfort by the end of the conversation, Liuli hurriedly left Grandma’s room and went upstairs to her own bedroom, hoping to find some solace in sleep.
Upon returning to her room, Liuli realized she felt tired, especially since she hadn’t engaged in a chat with Grandma.
However, after the conversation with Grandma, she didn’t feel sleepy at all. Instead, she felt an intense sense of discomfort washing over her.
She couldn’t help but ponder, “How did 1 end up feeling like this?”
Nothing had changed, and tomorrow was just a formality. Liuli repeated these words in her mind, trying to console herself as she lay in bed, unable to fall asleep.

However, her sleep was short-lived as she was awakened by her mom’s gentle voice.

“It’s time to wake up and get ready,” Lin Yu replied, her gaze fixed on Liuli.
Liuli, still feeling drowsy, asked, “What time is it? Do we have to get up now?”
She longed to sleep a little longer; she was so sleepy.
“Don’t go back to sleep. It’s already 6:30 AM. You need to get dressed, put on makeup, and pay respects to our ancestors. It will keep you busy,” Lin Yu said, gently stroking Liuli’s hair.
“Mom, can I sleep for just half an hour? No, 15 minutes will do,” Liuli pleaded.

Liuli lifted the blanket, got off the bed and went into the bathroom to wash up.
Then she got changed and walked out of the room.
She saw her father in the living room on the second floor.
He was smoking and thinking about something. He looked tired. “Dad…”Liuli said.
