Chapter 9
Chu De waved his hand, nonchalant. The last thing the Chu family lacked was money. “You can return the money in the future. I’ll give you the account number. Once you are able, transfer the money to it.”
“All right, I’ll change out of the uniform right away!”
Li An’an didn’t feel embarrassed about being fired again. All she cared about was that her children would have to suffer again, living a hard life with her. She lowered her head, looking very pitiful.
Chu Yichen sat on the sofa. The wet documents had already been taken care of. He took off his coat and leaned back, looking at Li An’an expressionlessly.
It was her again. Was it a coincidence, or was it on purpose?
He scrutinized her, his ice-cold eyes filled with contemplation.
Li An’an felt a powerfully oppressive aura. She raised her head and saw the unsympathetic, chilling man sitting on the sofa.
Her beautiful eyes widened! Their gaze met.
Chu Yichen got up from the sofa. His 1.9-meter height overwhelmed the 1.7-meter-tall Li An’an. His breathtakingly good looks made her nervous as well.
His voice was low and dangerous. “We meet again. Explain why you’re here.”
In an instant, countless thoughts flashed through Li An’an’s mind. She could slap him, kick him, or even smash his head in with the ashtray on the table. This was all because of him. She was getting more and more miserable with each time they met. However, she calmed down and lowered her head. “Why am I here? Need you even ask?”
“I really didn’t mean to bump into you yesterday, but your woman refused to forgive me and I lost my job. Why do you think I’m here?!”
“Now I’ve lost my job yet again. I hope you’re happy!”
Li An’an cried as she spoke. In order to make it look real, she pinched her leg until it was bruised. After the act was over, she turned around and left. Chu Yichen was really a jinx!
“Wait.”
Chu Yichen’s deep voice came from behind her. Its tone was ice cold, but it left no room for doubt or defiance.
Li An’an felt a headache coming on. She gauged the distance between her feet and the entrance of the villa, then estimated the capabilities of the row of bodyguards outside the door. She turned around decisively.
“What else do you want? Has Miss Gu not tormented me enough? Are you going to add more salt to my wounds?”
Fear radiated from her eyes.
Her vulnerable act was perfect. What choice did she have? As a woman with three children, whatever childish parts of her had already been worn away at a young age. She had to become adaptable.
They looked at each other for a few seconds, and Chu Yichen’s expression became even more serious. “I will have someone investigate what you said. If it is true, you may continue to work here!” His eyes regained their previous indifference.
Li An’an felt the oppressive gaze on her disappear, and she finally relaxed.
Her premonition was right. This man was indeed terrifying!
Chu Yichen had already retracted his gaze, finished reading the documents in his hand and gone upstairs.
At the top of the stairs, he looked down at Li An’an, who had her head lowered. She looked harmless and obedient in the huge living room.
He raised his eyes and pinched his brows.
Any woman who suddenly appeared around him had to be investigated—thoroughly!
After Chu Yichen had gone upstairs, Butler Chu questioned Li An’an.
“Li An’an, were you acquainted with Young Master?”
Li An’an nodded honestly.
“Yes, we met at the auto show. I used to be a car model, but I lost my job because I offended Miss Gu.”
Chu De scrutinized Li An’an. His gaze was filled with doubt, and something else that made her extremely uncomfortable.
“Very well, I’ll look into it. You may carry on working!”
Chu De did not continue to make things difficult for Li An’an. He let her return to work while he went to his room to make a call.
