THREE MONTHS AND SOME WEEKS LATER
"Maybe I should just cancel the whole thing," Lawrence said. The thought of not seeing Maddie and Luis for a few days was making him go crazy.
"You should go, honey. We will be fine." Madiana assured as she placed Luis on her chest. The little boy was playing with her hair, trying to put it in his mouth but she was preventing him from doing so.
Lawrence was to go on a trip to Paris for some business deal. He was representing his father's company since he was a partner there.
When his father informed him about the trip, he was reluctant to go, telling his father to go himself or appoint someone else to represent the company.
His father, Liam, chuckled at his reply because he knew his son was reluctant to go because he didn't want to leave Madiana and Luis behind.
But he had no choice because this deal was a very important one and he only trusts his son to make the best of it. Besides, he will only be gone for two days so he wondered why his son was complaining that much.
Lawrence had discussed it with Maddie and she offered to take care of Luis throughout the period he will be out of the country.
So she came over to Lawrence's house last night to spend the night with him and Luis.
Lawrence and Madiana's relationship was going well, their bond was now as tight as ever. But Maddie still refused to move in with him. She couldn't help but think that it was still early for that.
But during these past days, she spent more time in Lawrence's apartment than in her apartment. She has had a lot of sleepovers at his place.
"Trust me, we will be fine." She assured. She walked towards him with Luis still in her arms and gave him a kiss on the lips.
"Okay," he mumbled, then continued packing his clothes and other essentials he would need for his two days trip.
After he was done with the parking, he took a quick shower and dressed up in something casual.
His Driver, Dominic, arrived and took his suitcase to the car.
"I will miss you, buddy. Be good to Maddie alright." He said to Luis who was blabbering baby words in Madiana's arms.
"Stay safe. Call me when you land." She said,
"I will. Love you!" He said and kissed her passionately.
"Love you too." She replied.
Madiana watched as he exited his apartment to join Dominic in the car. She watched through the window as the car took off.
"Guess, it's only you and me now." She said to Luis who smiled back at her as if he understood what she said.
She smiled at him and kissed his forehead. She was fond of him already and he was an adorable baby. He was growing up so fast too and would be one year old in a few months.
Madiana proceeded to the kitchen to make Luis's food. She fed him and burped him after which she put him to bed for his nap.
As soon as Luis fell asleep, Madiana found herself being bored as hell. She was missing Lawrence already. She was thinking about taking a nap too when her phone rang.
She quickly reached for it thinking it was Lawrence but it wasn't. Instead, it was Omo.
"Heyyy." She said to her.
"Hi, girlfriend. I know you are bored already. Your boyfriend told Ethan and me to look after you so we are coming over." Omo said, trying to cheer her friend up.
"That's fine. I will start making us something to eat." Maddie offered.
"No, don't worry honey. We got that covered. I'm bringing you a special dish." Omo said from the other side.
"Are you sure? I haven't been feeling too well lately. I do not want something that will nauseate me more." She said,
"Trust me. You will enjoy this. See you soon." Omo said, then ended the call.
Madiana sighed as she got up from the bed and changed into a sundress dress.
She checked up on Luis and saw that he was still sleeping.
She kept herself busy by watching TV and soon enough, the doorbell rang. She went to open the door and was pulled into a bone-crushing hug by Omo.
"Hello, cupcake." Ethan greeted as he passed the two friends and found his way to the kitchen with the baskets of food he was carrying. He placed them on the kitchen counter and joined Omo and Maddie in the living room.
"I guess Lawrence should have landed by now," Ethan said as he plopped down on the couch.
"I miss him," Maddie pouted and they all chuckled.
"Where's Luis?" Omo asked.
"He's taking his nap."
They enjoyed themselves by watching movies after which they all ate the food Omo brought. Jollof rice, salad and grilled chicken. She made it the Nigerian way and it was so delicious. But Maddie couldn't eat much because she had trouble keeping anything down.
Omo also brought Cereal. This was Maddie's first time seeing that type of Cereal. It was a Made in Nigeria Cereal called "Golden Morn."
Both Madiana and Ethan tried the Cereal and it tasted so good. Maddie promised to come over to their store and buy more of the cereal.
When it was nighttime, Madiana bathed Luis while Omo dressed him up and Ethan had the duty to put him to bed.
While Ethan was doing so, Omo took Maddie to the balcony where they sat down. She had been wanting to talk to her in private but hadn't gotten the chance because Ethan was always prying.
"Are you okay, Maddie? You have been acting weird all through. You didn't eat much and you avoided taking wine with us."
"I don't think I am. I've been feeling weak lately and I find it hard to keep anything down. That's why I avoided drinking wine." She Said.
"Are you sure you aren't pregnant?" She asked and Maddie looked away.
The possibility crossed her mind but she still hasn't had the mind to take a test even though she had one right now in her purse.
"What if he gets mad at me? What if he doesn't want anything to do with me and the baby?" She asked with tears in her eyes.
Omo chuckled "I'm sure if Lawrence hears you now he's going to be mad at you for not trusting him. I believe in the bond the both of you have. I believe in you and Lawrence's love. It will be fine." She assured.
"Whatever it is. Ethan and I will always be here for both of you." Omo assured, pulling Maddie into a hug.
"I've been looking for you guys. Luis is asleep. Did I miss anything?" Ethan asked, looking at them suspiciously.
"Nothing. It was just a best friend hug." Omo replied.
Both Ethan and Omo stayed with Maddie a little longer before they took their leave.
Madiana prepared for bed and checked up on Luis who was fast asleep. She kissed his forehead and switched on the baby monitor and headed to the Master bedroom which was Lawrence's room and that was where she stayed too whenever she came over.
Before she slept, She called her elder sister, Linda who was happy to hear from her. She explained everything to Linda and Linda encouraged her to take the test and that whatever the outcome was, she would always be there for her.
As soon as she ended the call with Linda, another call came in and it was from her love, Lawrence.
"Hi, Babe."
"Heyy, she replied."
"I miss you." She added.
"I miss you too, Babe. Sorry for not calling you on time. I had to meet with a client as soon as I arrived. Hopefully, we will finalize the deal by tomorrow evening after which I'll be on my way back home."
"Okay. That will be great." She said,
"How's Luis?" He asked.
"Fine. He's asleep already. Thanks for sending Ethan and Omo over. They were able to keep us company."
"Anything for you, my love. You sound pretty sad, is everything okay?" He asked, concerned.
"Hmm yes. Everything is good. I just miss you." She half lied.
"I miss you too. Don't worry, By this time tomorrow, we will both be cuddling." He chuckled and she smiled.
"I can't wait." She said,
They talked some more before ending the call after which Maddie walked to the bathroom to take the test. Even though she could feel it, she just wanted something to confirm it.
