Tangled Hearts Chapter 69

Ellie walked into the café. It was somewhat quiet as they are few students in there. Some were still writing their examination. She had watched her sister wake up and revised her notes before hopping out of the room without acknowledging her. She had hissed and scoffed. Not like it would add anything to her life anyways. Since she was not having any exams, she had lapsed on the bed and slept for some minutes before fighting the urge to sleep. She scrambled her way off the bed and quickly had a quick bath. Just because yesterday was bad does not mean that today will be worse. She thought to herself as she wore her clothes. She stared at her damned self. I am no damned self. She rebuked her subconscious mind and shook her head to get rid of such silly thoughts. I won't be depressed. She kept chanting to herself. I won't give up just because the world is against me. She intonated as she walked out of her room. She looked around the café and saw an empty table at the extreme edge. She smiled half-heartedly and walked towards it. Then she remembered she got to get something to eat. She unwillingly stood up and walked towards the counter. “A glass of orange juice and a sandwich, please.” She ordered. At least she did not have to stay in line like before when there will be a queue. But mentally thanked her stars that students were not as many as they would have been if not for the exam. The server dropped the tray. Ellie forced a polite smile and carried the tray. As she was about to move to her, she saw that another student already sat down. Since she is not one to talk with strangers, she looked around and saw an empty table. She smiled and strolled towards it. Dropping the tray gently so as not to make the juice spill over which it eventually did, just a little though, she sat down. She first took a sip from the juice and before digging her teeth into the sandwich. She hummed at how yummy and mouth souring it is and closed her eyes savoring the taste. Facing problems won't stop me from eating. She thought as her lips twitched into a smile. Despite the fact that she felt so left out, she still behaved like nothing had happened the day before. She is strong. She knew that. And she will not stop. Christian walked out of the class since he was one of the first batch to have submitted. During the exam, he had taken sneaky glances at Elsa who did not even share him a glance. He was still having a double thoughts on whether he should keep persuading her or he should just give up. He had requested of his mother to transfer him to Shining Stars High. His mother knew too well how much he hated this school and was even more shocked when he asked her. Little did she know that her little son had been wrapped around a lady's fingers. But he slowly losing himself from her. He does not want to obsessed with her. As he walked past the corridors and went towards his locker, he heard girls whisper incoherent words to one another. He tuned them all out and dumped the book that was in his hand in his locker. He slammed the door shut and hissed angrily at what they were saying. Even though, he loved and wanted the attention. At least, not some girls saying that want to play with themselves while he watch. Filthy assholes. He muttered as he ambled out of the corridors. He stopped before the café with his usual pose; his hands were always in his pockets like they were keeping hold of something. He looked around and saw that students were few. Just the perfect timing to get ease. He thought himself. He pushed the glassy door open and looked around for a seat. Then he saw Ellie eating comfortably on a table. He smiled a little and after contemplating for sometime, he decided to go and meet her. She was surprisingly full of life. He was surprised. “Hey.” He hollered at her. She looked up and saw him. She dropped the sandwich. “Christian.” She mumbled out since she was still chewing the sandwich. “Can I have a seat?” He asked politely. She nodded her head vigorously. He smiled appreciatively and sat down. She drank some juice and cleaned her mouth with a tissue. “Hey, how are you doing?” She asked. “I must say I am quite surprised that you are like this despite having to face such embarrassing stuff yesterday.” He started out. She smirked and dumped the tissue on the tray. “why keep holding unto to the past when you can make the future better?” She said. “And I must say also, you really did not change that much.” She pointed out as she took in his facial features. He cocked his head to the right side and narrowed his eyes on her, imploring her to explain better. She chuckled lightly and said. “I still remember when my sister and I were on our way back home that evening.–“ her lips pulled together to form a tight smile as she envisioned the memory “– A longtime crush of mine drove straight to us and approached us. I was on cloud nine that I was giggling like a teddy that was being tickled. But I was wrong. He was not coming towards me but my sister who did not even give a damn about him. He told me to excuse him, I was kind of hurt but I had no choice than to give them some space as my sister suggested also. I heard him say several sweet pick-up lines to her, but she did not smile neither did she laugh. She had that stoic face on. She would scoff at some. Then I heard a hiss come out from her lips and she walked past me. I side glanced at him and saw vetoed he was. I smiled.
