Tangled Hearts Chapter 68

He stared at her with an amused smile. His lips curved into a grin then he burst out laughing at her. Her grin dropped and she pursed her lips into a thin line. She stared at him with a confused expression. “What is funny?” She asked and stared at him questioningly. “Did you just say you want to be my younger sister?” He asked out of disbelief. “Yeah. Anything wrong with it?” She asked. She does not know the reason but since he asked her to be his friend, she felt so free with him which was definitely not her. Maybe the crush she had on him was just some weird infatuation. Her heart beat with a thud, thinking she crossed her limits. “It is alright.” She said and sadness dripped in her voice. He stopped laughing and stared at her. “Hey, I did not mean it. I just found it weird and strange maybe.” He explained. “Being the only child of my parents. I never thought I would have one and that too you.” He said and she brightened up. “So you accept me as your younger sister?” She asked with expecting eyes. “Yeah.” He said simply and she squealed loudly. “Hey. I told to keep it down.” He cautioned her. She held her mouth as if he will revoke his words. “So from friends to sworn siblings?” She asked with excited laugh. “Yeah.” He said with a chuckle. “So tell me. Why were you called the quite nerd? Because from what I have seen, you are really quiet.” He said with sarcasm lacing his voice. She rolled her eyes and snorted. “I am no quiet nerd.” He smiled at her. “You know whenever Jayson and Julia play around or laugh, I always gets jealous but makes sure to mask it with a forced smile.” He thought aloud as he remembered those times. The smile on her face did not fade and it was not fading away anytime soon. Then her brain processed what he said. She looked at him instantly and said. “Jayson and Julia?” She furrowed her eyebrows for him to clarify. “What?” He clamped his mouth shut as he realised he just spilled out something he was not supposed to. “Did you just say something like Jayson and Julia?” She asked again to be sure. He wrinkled his eyebrows and said. “Did I?” He scratched the back of his neck nervously. “Yeah, you did.” She affirmed. “No, I did not.” He answered. “Yeah, you did.” “No, I did not.” “Yeah, you did.” “And I said. No, I did not.” He said with a tone of finality. “You..” She gritted her teeth and snorted. He smiled at her. “Guess, we will have good time being siblings.” He taunted. “In your weird wet dream.” She scoffed and he burst out laughing. “Where did you keep this feistiness of yours?” He asked amidst laughing. “Anyone who thinks you are a nerd and a quiet person really need an eye and brain check.” He was still laughing. “My wet dream?” He wondered aloud. “Gosh, it is so amusing.” He said, burst into another fit of Iaughter. “Okay now. Sissy, it's time to go to bed.” He said and dragged her up. She stood up and dusted her buttocks off. They walked while they talked, more like bicker like they were real siblings. The progress between them was surprisingly fast. They stopped before her dorm. His lips rose into a tight smile. “Have a good sleep. Sleep tight. Sweet dreams.” He said. She smiled a little and waved at him. “Good night. Sweet dreams.” She said and went in. He walked away with a delighted smile on his face. “Surprising.” He thought. ~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~ Aria squealed as she locked the door of her room. This woke her roommate, Maureen, who was sleeping on the bed up. Maureen blinked her eyes and yawned out. “Hey, keep this voice down.” She begged. Aria, seeing that her friend already woke up, hurriedly ran towards her and held her hands. “Guess what?” She asked excitedly. “What?” Maureen said and pulled her hands away as there was a close proximity between them. She shifted a bit far from Aria. “You have gone out on your usual tour to watch your crush stare at the sky as usual.” Maureen taunted. “Well, I did not go out to watch him. All I did was, I heard some footsteps. So I just wanted to check who it was and it turned out to be him. Well, I am quite thankful that I went to check because something shocking happened.” She said with a beam on her lips. “He asked you out?” Maureen asked, knowing that apart from that, what else was there to be so delighted about. Before Aria could utter another word, Maureen already screamed out excitedly. “Really?” She asked. Aria stared at her skeptically and rose her lips into a sneer, “Really what?” She asked. Maureen's excitement died down and she said. “Then what are you grinning about?” She scoffed. Aria just made her excited for nothing. “Well…” Aria spoke up and soon burst into laughter. She just could not stop the stream of excitement that was bubbling in her veins. Maureen raised an eyebrow. “I think you need a check-up because you are behaving somehow.” She said. Aria snorted and said. “Well, let me cool that eagerness of yours. We are now siblings.” Maureen choked on her spit as she stared at her like she had just grown two horns. “Siblings?” She asked with confusion. “Surprised, right? Well, don't be surprised. I am Jake's sister. So treat me with respect.” She said while she behaved like she was someone of royalty, dusting her top and beaming like a person that had just hit the jackpot. Maybe for her it really was. “What is wrong with you? You have a crush on him and now, you are his sister. How does that makes sense to you?” Maureen stared at her friend with worry. “Hey, don't stare at me like that.” Aria rolled her eyes and sat down on her bed. “I am fine. Just happy.” She said. Maureen had ruined her happy vibes. Maureen noticed this and smiled. She scrambled and got down from her bed. “Hey, not that it is bad or something. Just surprised. At least if you don’t date. You can still be siblings.” *That I have weird.* She added mentally. Aria looked at her and smiled. “Sure.” She agreed. <><><><><><><><><> Jake pushed the door of their door open and went straight to his room. As he entered, he saw Jayson sitting on the bed. He snorted mentally and picked a towel before heading to the toilet. Jayson turned to look at him and shook his head. *Some Minutes Later* Jake came out with his towel wrapped around his waist. He went straight to his wardrobe and picked out a big pair of trousers and a grey singlet. He cleaned his body and wore the clothes. He went towards his the bed and slumped on it. “Jake.” Jayson called out but Jake tuned him out and dozed off. Jayson exhaled deeply and shook his head in dismay.
