"Soon, Perry," she muttered, tightening her gauntlet straps. "You'll realize Oscorp doesn't need redemption. It needs leadership."
She walked toward the Dimensional Access Gate—a clean, purely technological marvel that operated using quantum resonance fields and micro-singularity stabilization rings. Nothing magical about it. All based on theoretical but plausible science.
As she keyed in her target—a nearby alternate Earth where another Eve Osborn ruled—she whispered:
"Time to merge ideas."
And with that, she stepped through.
Back on the Helicarrier, Dave scrolled through SHIELD's threat database with a bored expression.
"Lady Goblin: Status – MISSING. Location – Untraceable. Note: May have accessed interdimensional tech from classified Oscorp blacksite."
"Well, that's annoying," Dave muttered, leaning back as the screen blinked out of focus.
"She fled before we could even reach her?" Perry frowned, arms crossed, eyes narrowed behind her lenses. "Any idea where we can find her now?"
Dave rolled his neck and exhaled. "Don't ask me. In my world, Osborn's still just a sick old guy. He's working on a cure for the Goblin Serum, not building dimension-hopping gear and upgrading himself into techno-tyrants."
Perry nodded, thoughtful. "Your world sounds... easier."
Dave gave a dry laugh and shrugged. "Did you guys ever have alien invasions?"
Perry blinked, confused for a second. "Alien attacks?"
Dave pointed toward the SHIELD database interface. "I searched the files. There's no mention of the Avengers. No Battle of New York. No Thanos. No Chitauri. Nothing."
Perry paused. "We've had interdimensional events. Tech-based threats. Even incursions. But not aliens, no. At least, not like what you're describing."
He nodded slowly, piecing it together. "So your world skipped the cosmic horror bit. Lucky."
She raised a brow. "And you guys survived all that?"
"Well, some of us," Dave muttered. "And yeah, my world's far from easy. But at least we knew what we were fighting. Yours? I feel like it's all in the shadows. Everyone plays god with tech and no one wants to admit they broke the rules."
There was a quiet pause between them.
"So..." Perry asked cautiously, "you think we're weaker?"
Dave glanced at her, something between a smirk and a sigh on his lips. "No. I think you're untested. Big difference."
Just then, a ping echoed through the Helicarrier's interface—dimensional energy spike detected, faint but present. It wasn't Lady Goblin reentering... but something else.
Dave leaned forward. "Uh-oh."
Dave stood, eyes narrowing at the pulsing screen.
Perry was already moving, pulling a holopad from her belt and syncing it to the Helicarrier's sensors. "It's faint. But not her signature."
"Could be someone else bleeding through," Dave muttered, striding next to her as Furiosa appeared in the doorway.
"You two feel it too?" she asked, tossing a jacket over her shoulder. "We've got a fresh spike near Brooklyn. Nothing like the goblin tech."
"Could be another drifter," Perry suggested, fingers dancing across her pad. "Or a fragment from another unstable dimension. Whatever it is—it's not normal."
"No way this is a coincidence," Dave said, watching the wave pattern on the screen. "Lady Goblin bolts, and suddenly we get a new ping in a whole other borough?"
"You think it's bait?" Furiosa asked, narrowing her eyes.
Dave turned. "I think it's connected. She went through that door for a reason. And if I had to guess—this thing in Brooklyn? It's part of her plan."
"Or a side effect," Perry added, biting her lip. "Dimensional doorways aren't exactly stable tech. Not without some serious calibration."
Furiosa waved toward the deck. "We're already scrambling a response team. But since you two are our 'multiversal consultants'..." She paused. "You're riding shotgun."
Dave grinned faintly. "Nice. I was getting bored."
As they headed toward the launch bay, Perry walked beside him, whispering, "You really think she's working with another version of herself?"
Dave shrugged. "Wouldn't you? I mean, if there were a dozen of me out there, and I was some science-obsessed psycho trying to upgrade myself—I'd start with the versions of me that already survived worse."
"...Creepy," Perry muttered.
"Efficient," Dave corrected. "And if she's smart, she'll keep jumping until she finds one that cracked the Goblin formula perfectly."
Dave gave her a look.
"She becomes unstoppable."
"Of ocurse to you guys not to me" He added breaking all serious atmosphere.
The Helicarrier roared as the ramp lowered and wind blasted through. Below, the city stretched wide and flickering, and a column of faint green mist shimmered in the distance—Brooklyn.
Dave stepped to the edge. "Let's go meet whoever fell through the cracks."
Perry followed with a deep breath.
Furiosa's voice buzzed in their earpieces. "Team ready. Touchdown in five."
As the Helicarrier descended toward Brooklyn, the city below was eerily quiet, almost as if it were holding its breath. The faint green mist still lingered, swirling above an old, abandoned warehouse. Dave's eyes narrowed as the team geared up, the doors opening with a soft hiss. Perry, Furiosa, and Dave disembarked swiftly, their boots hitting the ground as they adjusted to the strange atmosphere around them.
"Looks like we're dealing with a focal point," Perry muttered, scanning the area with her devices. "All signs point to some kind of portal or rift. But the readings are... off. Unstable."
Furiosa's hand hovered near the hilt of her blade as she surveyed the area. "No signs of activity," she said, her voice low. "But I can feel something's here."
Dave clenched his fists, his eyes flicking around. "This feels like a trap. We're walking into a nest."
Suddenly, the ground rumbled beneath their feet, the faint green mist thickening as it began to swirl in a vortex above them. The air grew colder, and the hairs on the back of Dave's neck stood up. He could sense the familiar shifting of dimensional energy around them, and his instincts kicked into high gear.
"Get ready," Dave muttered.
In an instant, the green mist burst apart, revealing a figure standing at the center of the rift. It wasn't Lady Goblin, but her presence was unmistakable. The figure before them was cloaked in a tattered green suit, a face obscured by a twisted mask. The most disturbing feature, however, was the glowing green eyes that pierced through the shadows—eyes full of malice and intelligence.
"You shouldn't have come," the figure growled, voice warped by distortion. "I was hoping to avoid this confrontation."
