Steampunk Era: Mad Abield Chapter 120

Faye didn’t take the voucher in her hand too seriously—after all, she was the owner of the dessert shop. Still, when it came time to pay, she presented the voucher, thinking that it was earned by her boyfriend after all, and Maya, the little Leopard Girl, had given her plenty of face. The clerk glanced at the voucher and her perception of Faye changed, "This is a voucher ordered by the Church of Suffering. It’s a gift voucher issued to related friends. How did you get it?" "My brother helped a...uh..." Maya searched for the right word for a moment, "It should be a Lord, I guess." "I see." The clerk knew Maya and smiled, "Miss Faye, your boyfriend is really getting more and more formidable." "You have to believe in my judgment of people," Faye raised her eyebrows, "By the way, how much is this voucher worth?" "Two hundred bucks. This is a gold-edged voucher given by the Church to friends of the faith. They also order a lot of desserts from us every month for the children," the clerk entered the amount from the voucher into Faye’s account and tore off a corner of the voucher, "Miss Faye, by the way, where is your boyfriend?" "He’s busy with that Lord." Faye scratched the tip of her nose—she realized that this person must be a mole her mother had planted in the shop. She nodded, and as her head swayed, the pointed tips of her ears showed through her long hair. "Let’s go." Faye walked out with the girls and ran right into the brother of the girl who had been the patient earlier. "Hey, little brother, why did you leave your sister?" Jessica greeted him as if she’d known him for ages. The kid, seeing the girls, hurriedly made a bow, "I went home to tell my father and mother. Thanks to you ladies for today’s events. By the way, where is Lord Malin?" "He’s busy with another Lord," Faye replied, then gave the kid a look, "By the way, why did you say earlier that was your brother?" "Brother...ah, no, sister. My sister doesn’t like her identity, she’s always saying she wishes she were a boy, and she makes me call her brother in public," the kid’s face was full of a tangled expression as he mentioned this. "Here, take these desserts and share them with your sister later," Faye took a bag of desserts from her bag and put it in the hands of the kid, "Now go home and give your parents some peace of mind first." "Thank you, Sister Faye." The kid bowed his head, then ran off toward the gate to the North City District. "A strange sister indeed, clearly a girl, but she says she doesn’t like her own identity. No matter how you change what you call her, you can’t change the facts," Lillim said this and glanced at Jessica. The Wolf Girl noticed her gaze, looking puzzled and confused back at the little sheep girl. Who was stared back at in return. "I can understand her a little. It’s kind of like how I’m not satisfied with my body," Clovis said a bit sadly. But Maya hugged the Bunny Girl tightly, "But Clovis smells so nice." "You think I taste good, don’t you! Let go of me, you leopard!" Clovis slapped at Maya’s hands wrapped around her waist, and Maya licked Clovis’ ear, then laughed and hugged her tightly. "You two are ladies, you know," Faye huffed, waiting until the little Leopard Girl reluctantly let go of the Bunny Girl before nodding in satisfaction, "Let’s go back. Malin shouldn’t be gone for too long." Malin, mentioned by his girls, took off a helmet from the head of a dead body at his feet and placed it on his own head. It was quite big, but at least it gave him some psychological comfort—whether or not to have a helmet could sometimes be the difference between life and death with stray bullets. Following the Deity through the portal, Malin found himself on a battlefield. Everywhere were soldiers from the Sydney Union and Chaos soldiers. Unlike the Chaos Folk Malin had seen before, these Chaos soldiers looked more like ordinary people, except for some twisted limbs and organs on their bodies. They were charging with various weapons at a defensive line, forcing Malin to pick up a Revolver from a dead soldier, take off the bullet pouch around his waist, and start fighting for survival. First, he checked the remaining bullets in the cylinder and then loaded two bullets. Next, he fired at the approaching Chaos Folk, a Chaos lad wielding an axe fell with a thud when a bullet breached his skull. Given their twisted condition, naturally, they couldn’t survive a bullet to the head. Malin caught the flying axe and threw it back, spinning through the air until it landed on the head of another Chaos Folk fighting with human soldiers. The second shot was at a Chaos carrying a spear rushing toward him, still with a bullet to the head. This time, the Chaos continued charging with a howl, so Malin aimed a little higher. The third bullet shifted from the face to the forehead, and this time the Chaos finally fell on the charge path. Malin grabbed the spear, held it in reverse, and threw it, skewering another Chaos trying to jump into the trench. Malin found a good destination for the fourth bullet—a Chaotic Sorcerer made a showy entrance, flamboyantly floating in mid-air, ready to toss a massive Fireball with one hand. Malin’s bullet found it, and while the shot to the forehead didn’t penetrate the Sorcerer’s Protection Spells, the impact sent it spinning in the air. The uncontrollable Fireball then ignited the Sorcerer completely, and the situation spiraled out of control. Wailing, the Sorcerer fell from the sky, landing on the heads of its own charging infantry, followed by an explosion that dragged several more Chaos soldiers into its fiery demise.
