Siren’s Cry [A LITRPG Adventure] Chapter 8

Conjuration and Runes, A Primer (Rare, Tome): A book written by the late T. Adermire, it contains all basic and intermediate knowledge for summoning creatures and drawing ancient Lothian runes. Of course, I immediately tried to feed it to my own grimoire, but nothing happened. Probably because it's not a spell scroll, you moron.Speaking of my grimoire, apparently Identifying the runes during the fight counted as learning the spells, as all four runes are drawn on one of the early pages of the spell tome. Feeding mana into each one caused the same effect as during the fight, but I wanted to learn how to actually draw them midair like the lich did. Putting both tomes away for now, I pulled up the rewards from the dungeon. Huh. More… mediocre than I thought it would be. Then again, it is only an uncommon dungeon. Honestly surprised I've gotten such high rarity items. Maybe Lecherous Looter improves the loot as well? Thinking about the options for a while, I came to the conclusion that the skill advancement would not benefit me. I have the summoning book to help me advance my Lesser Conjuration, and Witch's Tome doesn't really need an upgrade at the moment. Magebolt again doesnt need to be stronger, nor does any of my passives. Therefore, my best option would be to choose the levels and then leave. However, something about the room bothers me. Thinking about the hidden switch I found earlier, before I choose the levels I search the room. Brushing hands over discolored stones, checking strangely straight cracks in the walls, and tugging on suspiciously placed vines yields nothing of interest. Glancing at where the bosses sarcophagus was, I realize how obvious it is. Clearing the rubble takes a few minutes, tossing broken chunks of engraved stone away and moving the shattered corpse of the lich. My efforts are rewarded when I spot a small bronze button inlaid into the bottom of the stone coffin. Pressing it, the sound of scraping stone fills the room as a section of wall at chest height slides away, revealing two small chests. Opening the first reveals another book, nearly identical to the one I looted from the Runepriest Lich. Identify shows it as being the next book in the series, the epic rarity Conjuration and Runes, Advanced Theory. The description is likewise similar, only changing to advanced and master-level knowledge inside. The other chest I hesitate before opening, debating whether or not to use LL. I already have a few “fun” magic items, and I can always use better equipment. But I kinda want to know what item I would get from a hidden boss chest if my theory about LL increasing the rarity by a tier is true… No, I need a solid set of equipment before I start getting horny shit. Come on, Siris; think with your brain, not your dick. God, I've always wanted to say that. Chuckling to myself, I open the chest without turning on my passive. Inside, a pair of fingerless elbow-length black gloves made of soft silk lay neatly folded. Reading the Identify has me almost salivating. -==×==- Tʜe source of this ᴄontent ɪs 𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙡⁂𝔣𝔦𝔯𝔢⁂𝘯𝘦𝘵 Dread Weaver's Evening Gloves (Epic, Glove): A pair of spider silk evening gloves once worn by a disciple of the Dread Weaver Arachnea. Enchanted with self-repair, self-cleaning, comfort, and durability enhancements. Grants the ability to conjure and control threads using mana. Ignoring the reveal of Arachne existing in this world and the possible multiversal implications of that, once more the dungeon has given me the perfect item. Slipping them on and flexing my hands, I feel the incredible softness and the perfect fit. Tight enough to stay on easily, but not tight enough to cut off circulation. Feeding a little mana into the gloves, silken threads spool out of the gloves and coil on my palms. A small spark of will (and more mana), and the threads float out in front of me. Weaving through the air as I focus on what I want to create, the silk slowly forms a familiar object. A simple pair of white silk panties drop into my hands, and I quickly put them on so I can stop flashing everything around me whenever I move. I also create a simple chest wrap to cover up more than the habit does. Which really doesn't take much, what with the super low v-neck. Stretching to make sure my new underwear doesn't shift too much, I go to the glowing obelisk I've been glancing at the whole time. Firing off an Identify on reflex, I get absolutely nothing in return. Guess even a god's blessing has its limits. Pressing my hand to the obelisk, the system responds. A quick tap on the screen later, and the runes carved into the pillar flash the neon blue of pure mana and I find myself outside the dungeon, standing over the now closed hatch. Trying to open it gives no message, and beyond what was once the dungeon entrance is now just a dark basement. Hopping down the few feet and crouching to fit the rest of the way, I search the dusty pit as I originally planned to. I find nothing of interest beyond another few bloodstains on the floors and walls and a few random coins which are promptly tossed into my bag. Climbing out and searching the dilapidated church once more, I find nothing that I didn't see before. Man, I wish I had a way to check how long I was inside the dungeon for. But looking at the light outside, at least five hours seems about right. Oh yeah, speaking of five, I've got five FP to spend real quick. I put all five into magic, noting that while my mana pool is quite large, if I ever want to summon something larger than the arrows I need a lot more mana. Even just creating the weird multi-part construct during the boss fight drained me almost completely from nearly full mana. And it wasn't actually that large, with the ‘torso’ only about the size of my head and the arms closer to bones. Its only real strength was speed and the force the mana could exert. Now that I have the time to think about it, I remember that the arms would dim slightly with each punch. Was it bleeding a little mana to increase its force? I'll think about it once I have a proper place to sleep. I can feel the exhaustion catching up to me now, and the mask finally softened enough to remove. Flexing my jaw at the sudden freedom, I put the mask into my bag. Shit, I entirely forgot about the wyrmling I can summon. And my passive from my class!
