~ ~ Freddy’s POV & Sheila ~ ~
Music is booming, in the well decorated hall…
“I can't remember the last time I attended such a ball” I say. Looking at how these young souls are jubilate revives a lot of very good and very bad memories in my mind.The craziest moment of my life, -- when I was younger and very foolish.
“Unfortunately, I can still remember our end of year party. It was a nightmare for me. How can't you remember? I mean all the girls craved to dance with you even my crush and that was so heart breaking for me” Graham lets out and I grin in discomfort.
“Don't be dramatic, I remember a lot of girls were also after you?” I say. “Oh, great now you remember. Whatever, all the girls except for my crush, though. She was all over you like an ant after sugar” he grumbles and it's kind of funny. “I thought you got over that already. It wasn't my fault” I taunt. “Never! And I don't think I will ever” he cries out.
‘Unfortunately, the bad memories are greater than the good ones I think to myself as the place begins to suffocate me. “I will be waiting for you in the car” I say. “Okay, we will join you in a while, once the girls are done” says Graham. “Great” With that said, I move to the car.
We came over to pick Natasha and Sheila as promised. I knew it was a bad idea coming here. To think I thought I had already gotten over all those shady days of my life.
A few minutes later, I see Graham and Natasha walking toward me but I can't see Sheila. They move into the car, talking and laughing and I'm seriously worried but they seem not to mind me. They are so much into each other.
“Where is Sheila?” I wonder aloud. They instantly stop laughing and they glare at each other then they glare back at me with hesitation as if something terrible has happened and this makes me more worried. “She is in…” “In? Doing what?” I glare at Natasha seriously. “In doing what?” I insist. “She charting with… a classmate” I'm out of the car before Natasha can end her statement already move into the build.
“They are waiting for me, I have to leave,” I tell him but he insists “Why don't you like me, am I not good enough?” he ask. “Hey, don't you ever say that again. It's not about you, ok?” I scowl at him. I hate making people feel uncomfortable.
As Mike and I are talking, a huge voice comes from behind yelling “What the hell are you doing here, Sheila?” and I start panicking at the sound of his voice. My heart is pounding and I can't explain why I feel so bad meanwhile I'm not doing something bad because I'm just having a chat with a friend.
‘What the hell is she doing with this dude in the dark, that she dares make me wait?’ I clench my fists tightly.
“Sorry, Mike but I have to leave now,” I say with a trembling voice. “You must not follow him, if you don't want to. You can stay if you wish. I will protect you,” he says. ‘Aaawww’ this is so kind of him but unfortunately, I want to leave.
I barely grin “Hey, I'm fine don't worry about me. You should go and have fun with the others” I smile at him. Unexpectedly, he pulls me and gives me a tight hug. I take a step back “Take care” with this say I leave.
“We can leave,” I tell Freddy as I move ahead. He follows me “Was the hug necessary?” he seriously frowns. “Yes,” I recklessly exclaim.
“Oh, really” I stop walking and paused in front of her while gripping her arm “I don't ever want to see that dude close to you again. You are mine and I don't share what is mine” I warn her.
“Freddy, free me, you're hurting me” I battle to get out of his grip in vain “For your information, I'm not yours and no one owns me” I scowl back at him. ‘Like what the fuck does he think he is?’…
He tightens his grip and it hurts more “Mind your words young lady. A wise person will not talk back at his backer. So stay wise and always remember that everything can end with a blink of an eye” with this said, he frees me and moves away.
A freezing chill moved down my spine as he spoke. I'm confused and speechless right now. What the hell is going over him. This is mean and this isn't the Freddy I know.
“Let's go” he shouts as he moves away. I was so confused that I had to take a few seconds to get back into my sense. I reluctantly follow him into the car. I can't forget what he said.
I take a seat at the back with him, I lean on the window. While Graham, Natasha are at the front seats. Graham starts the car and drives off. He’s charting and laughing with Natasha while Freddy and I are mad at each other so we don't speak or even look at each other the whole journey.
We finally arrive at Graham's club and settle in a private lodge. Graham orders whiskey, wine and some snacks. Natasha is very excited “One year down” she screams. Indeed, this is a great relief.
Meanwhile, I'm all moody meanwhile I planned on having fun this evening but Freddy had to decide otherwise. I just hate him right now. Unfortunately, I have to smile for Nat, I can spoil all that we planned to do this evening just because of Freddy’s selfishness.
The music is booming in the hall and Nat is jumping on her two feet. She pulls me out of the couch “Hey, baby what the hell is wrong with you?. Don't you dare kill the vibes” she happily warns me. She means it but she's too happy to even warn me with all the seriousness required. She just wants to have fun.
“I know… but it's Freddy… he’s been acting strange” I whimper. I'm sorry but I had to free my mind. “I see” she rolls her eyes “Whatever he does don't mind him this evening. Let's have fun and we will discuss this later. I told you we should have bought some weed. If we did, things would have been different right now” she shakes my shoulders while speaking and dancing at the same time.
I take a deep breath ‘She’s right’ I tell myself. “One year gone! Only one left. Mum will be proud of me” I shout even though my voice gets overshadowed by the loud music. “Yes, baby that's the spirit. I love that” she shouts and we are jumping on our feet all over like mad girls.
As soon as the champagne is served we make a toast to a long-lasting friendship. We drink all that is found on the table without thinking and we end up drunk as bees yet we keep drinking.
Like crazy girls we have so much fun dancing the hell out of us as the alcohol is controlling us already. I can't tell anyone one of you watching this how the evening ended because I was so fucked up that I have no memory of that night.
~ ~ Phone ringing ~ ~
“Damn it” I cry as I hear the sound of a phone ringing. With the head ache I have the sound is sore and very annoying. “Shit! Why do I drink if it's to suffer this much the following day” I cry.
“Damn, Freddy, pick the fucken phone!” Sheila cries. She obviously has a headaches as well. Yesterday the evening was hell. We didn't speak to each other so our only consolation was the damn alcohol.
I heavily tug my self and pick the phone. “Hello, who’s on the line” I say. I have a hell of a hangover and it's so evident in my voice.
“So this is how you recklessly spent your time and squander my money with whores? Anyway, you have been away for too long and I want you to return home as soon as possible.” I quiver at the sound of his voice. My eyes widens in shock and my vision becomes clearer “I will send the jet so it will be there this evening. I want you to take it first thing morning. I hope I've made myself clear.” he yells.
“I can't. Tomorrow is too soon maybe in a few weeks or days. I have a few things to round up here” I reply. “I'm not asking you, son, I'm telling you what you have to do and you will do it” he scowls.
“I can't make it tomorrow morning give me a few more days” I frown. “I don't care, I want you here latest tomorrow afternoon. Olivia is best to handle that branch” with this said he offs the call.
“Who was that?” I want to ask but I'm still mad at him and he has not apologised for yesterday. I can't just forgive him like that if not he will keep up with that macho behaviour and I don't need that around me.
With the headache, I rush out of bed to have a bath. Indeed, cold water is the best treatment ever, — it does magic. Although the pain doesn't go completely at least the cold water reduces the pain.
I rapidly dress up and I leave. Then I remember my bad behaviour of last night. She did nothing wrong yet I transferred my frustration to her that was very bad of me. I have to apologize about that. Unfortunately, I think about this is when the driver us already on the way to the office and I can't make any turn back. I have a lot of work waiting for me. ‘Anyway we will meet I'm the evening and have a chart’ I myself as I lean on the car.
The car halt, I step down and walk into the building heading straight to my office. “Make a transfer of ten million dollars to my private accout,” I tell my secretary immediately I step into my office. “Okay sir,” she nod as she immediately sent the request to the bank. It might take a few minutes hours. We are talking about millions of dollars.
I settle into my office and I make a few calls. Then I see my Secretary knocking at my door, “Come in” I wave her in. “I will call you later,” I drop the call because she has a seriously worried face and that hassles me.
“Sorry sir, the request has been denied. All the accounts are frozen we can't make any transaction” she says with a trembling voice “Fuck!” I hit the table so hard that the sore sound makes her quiver. “How come!” I yell but then I hold myself not to transfer my aggression to her, she's old enough to be my mother “You can leave” I wave her out and she runs out immediately.
“What the hell are you thinking?” Olivia barges into my office, with a smile of victory “You take the old man for a fool? Or do you think he won't notice the suspicious transactions you were about to make?” she slurs and it makes me bitter. “Your greed is what will cause your downfall. Why not transfer a hundred thousand or a few thousand dollars every five hours? Hahaha, your ego asking for more, hahaha…” she slurs.
“Get the hell out of my office” I scold her like a child. “Oh, calm down I'm going to leave. I just came to tell you that's the jet has arrived earlier than expected” she taunts as she moves out of the office.
I call my Secretary and she comes in running “Check if the jet has arrived” I ask. She nods and runs out then in a few minutes she comes “No, sir, it hasn't let the town yet” she says.
Olivia was poking fun at me and I fell for it. I knew she was behind all this. She constantly competition with me and I don't know why. I know my father has payed her school fees and took care of her like his child and now she is working with him but what the so much hate towards me. I have never been able to understand why.
