Her body shivered to reveal the fear, the defiance in her eyes tried to hide.
Mr. Dominic chuckled, a sadistic pleasure overwhelming him at the thought of how scared of him she was.
He would have her eventually but first, he needed to make a few points and had some matters that needed to be taken care of which will break her whole tenacious spirit completely.
He'd always loved taming the shrew and the Chase had always thrilled him above other things.
"Patience my love," he whispered even as he stood up, ignoring the pure relief that marred Maya's expression, "All good things come to those who wait. But soon I'll have you underneath me, writhing and wanting."
She gritted through her teeth, offering him another obscene choice word.
He grinned widely, " You have a guest that has been dying to see you. Play nice."
She rolled her eyes. That was the least she could do, her hands and legs were still tied and bound. Also, the last thing she needed was to make use of her mouth so much so, he used the dirty disgusting rag to gag her once more.
But all that was forgotten immediately the man who had starred in the nightmare of her past, actively entered into the room.
He had aged but quite not gracefully, she could see the lines on his face that showed intense hardship and suffering, and the discoloration of his skin hinted at an adverse effect of some drugs.
He was scum both literally and figuratively. But one thing remained in his eyes that frightened her, hope as he saw her bound. He looked at her like she was some bounty price money and finally, his stupid dreams of being an extremely rich man through her could be fulfilled.
"Gabriella?" His voice was croaky and wide in disbelief. She would give him that, he couldn't believe that Mr. Dominic had caught her.
She glared at him, mute.
Mr. Dominic smirked and then turning to her bewildered stepfather, he offered a response on her behalf, "She goes by the name Maya now. Like that could change a thing about her."
"How is your wife and unfortunately my mother doing?" She didn't want to feel concerned for a woman who had left her so early in her life to fend off so many demons, one of which she had brought into her life.
"Dead."
"You killed her?" Her eyes blazed with accusation and her mouth had a sour taste.
He shook his head, "I could never soil my hand with the blood of someone with not so much worth left." He gave her his usual sick smile that warned her whatever he was going to say next will make her sick in her tummy, "You know, I was not the only one who had plans for your sorry ass. Your mom herself wanted to sell you to the slave market and then with the money, elope with a kid not more than 19 and start a new life."
Maya had always thought at the back of her mind that someday, somehow, perhaps she will discover that she had been wrong and her mother had cared for her in some sick, absurd way and knowing that was never the case hurt more than it should and her stepfather know that, that's why he continued his story, triumph in his eyes.
"You leaving, dampened her so bright dreams. Loverboy left her two weeks later. He got into college and I know probably desired women younger than his mother. She became a walking runt, took all kinds of drugs to feel ecstasy without restraint." He paused and she saw a tiny flicker of sorrow in his eyes, "She died of an overdose a year after you left."
She could tell that once upon a time, he had loved his mother or had felt sometimes similar for her. The feeling might be sick, twisted, and might have been corrupted since he had an ulterior motive for getting married to her but no matter how vague those feelings were now, he still felt something for her dead mother and although that shouldn't make her glad, it did.
She should feel sick and cuss her mother, hate her but how much more hate could she heap on the womb that had housed her for nine months? Breast she had suckled furiously and a bossom she had laid on?
She will never forget that all those years of fending for her had been like a time of feeding a ram led to slaughter after but still, she was glad that in her mother's horrible life with drug addicts as friends and family, she had just one person who had cared. Everybody deserved that much, no matter what. Her horrible mother too.
And for her sake, she hoped in her next life. Her mother will give enough love to her doe-eyed girl who would have done anything to make her happy.
She knew that much because she had once been in that shoe.
She turned to face her stepfather, "Why are you here?"
He grinned at her, revealing his jagged set of broken teeth. He had added few to the collection, seems like he had a knack for getting into trouble regardless of age.
"I'm in debt, Bree. And although you hate me and all that, just for the sake of all your mom and I shared, hope you can do us this really big favor and take one for the team, huh?" His eyes flashed with amusement that irked Maya.
She turned to look at Mr. Dominic, "Hope you do know that karma is coming for you in form of your flesh and blood, I don't know when he would figure it out but he will. If he spares you for this folly act of yours, he won't spare you for all you have put his mother through."
Mr. Dominic released a wisp of choking stench from the cigarette he was smoking making Maya choke, "Xavier will get over you Maya. You need to understand one little thing, I have been trying to communicate to you all this while," he squatted in front of her, while she looked away, "While I know your worth and I'm even generous with what I am set out to offer you if you cooperate. A title of being just my slut," he fisted his
hair around her hand making her wince in pain, as she is forced to look at him, "You are just an overstretched nightstand in Xavier's book and all he had told you he can offer you, is false. His promises are empty and soon you'll just be another bitter ex, he had left behind for a hotter ass. That is why Xavier won't be showing up anytime soon and for my wife? That's a family topic and the last time I checked you weren't that, you are just some slut my son is housing probably because of how good you are in bed!"
She Chuckled, "Quite hard to convince me that's all you think I am to your son with the fear dancing in your orb. I know Xavier, he will come. Maybe not today, tomorrow, or a week after but he is coming, he'll come and he will bring hell with him!"
