THE CRYSTAL HALL
(Author’s POV)
The Business Gala and Award Night was being held at The Crystal Hall owned by Phoenix Mills. Getting the contract came as a surprise to Phoenix but she signed it anyway—it was a huge deal. The squabble between Sterling and Phoenix continued but to not give the media a run for their cameras, they had to pretend to be the power couple.
Sterling arrived the venue alongside Denzel and Olivia; standing at the red carpet and taking pictures, he just couldn’t keep up with the fake smiles anymore; Phoenix wasn’t there and it all wasn’t fun anymore—they planned this event for a long time.
While still in his thoughts, Phoenix arrived the venue and stepped out in her perfect outfit that had everyone gushing over her beauty—even Sterling gawked at the dress. He picked the dress because he thought it would look nice on her but not this perfect. Sterling stood there, gawking at her and how perfect she looked.
Phoenix was in the car, anxious because she knew that Sterling was going to be at the event and with the way she left, she was dreading facing him. She was hurt and even though she acted on impulse—she need a little bit of space.
(Phoenix POV)
I stepped out of my car and stood at the entrance of the red carpet and there he was, looking all glorious and making me wonder how someone could be this beautiful and perfect. I saw him and my heart stopped, and so did the world and just us being the only ones in it. He is all I want and even though that woman claims to be pregnant for him; I will be with him until she gives birth—she is probably in her third trimester like me.
I took long strides towards him and engulfed him in a huge hug that he totally wasn’t expecting and let silent tears flow down my cheeks.
“I’m sorry, Sterling, I am so sorry,”
“No, Nyx, it is okay; I am so glad that you’re here and that you are in my arms,”
“I just couldn’t bear the thought of another woman carrying your child and although that makes me sound like a hypocrite because here I am, with another man’s child in my stomach and not yours--- I had no right to judge,”
“It doesn’t matter. You were gone for a few hours and I already missed you so terribly and I wondered how I was going to cope with you not talking to me,”
“I am so sorry. I was just upset. When I got home, I had to rethink it. I know that it will be a hard thing to do but I am willingly to wait and if she is indeed lying about the father of the child, we’ll know how to sort that out. Let’s just enjoy this moment without our problems getting involved,”
I left the hug and looked at his face before kissing him passionately with all the love I had in me. This is the man I want to spend the rest of my life with, no matter what.
(Olivia’s POV)
I saw the whole action take place and I am glad that finally, they don’t have to hide their relationship from the public anymore. If they didn’t want to do that intentionally, then they just let it out unintentionally. Phoenix, she is so full of love for Sterling and I know that with this action of hers, she’s probably decided to stick to the whole unfortunate incident with the pregnant lady. Hmmmm, I am glad that Denzel told me.
Talking about Denzel, where is he? One minute he is here and the next he is not? I turn my head to search for him and there he is, making a call. I am going to go up there and drag him to go in. I am tired of looking at the cameras.
“Hey, babe, don’t you want to go in?”
“Uhh, yeah, I will be right with you in a few minutes,”
“Well, I am tired of staying out here doing nothing and besides, the event has started already,”
“Okay, okay. Let’s go in,”
I swear, this human being acted like a big baby sometimes. Today is going to be an epic event—I just feel it.
(Denzel’s POV)
Whoever this supposed woman is, I don’t care. She can’t swoop in from nowhere to ruin things and pregnancy?! She is so dead wrong and in big trouble because she doesn’t know that we know that that baby doesn’t belong to Sterling. She is definitely a tramp looking for money. I need to keep tabs on her at all times and I need to call in and check on Doctor Hailey.
“Hey, Rex,”
“Hello, who is this and how can I help you?”
“It’s Denzel. Sterling told me about the stranger in the house,”
“Yes sir,”
“Okay; what is the status report?”
“Since the boss left, she has been cranky. I am afraid that she might do something crazy but I can’t be too sure. I have been keeping an eye on her,”
“What is she doing?”
“She is currently asleep, sir,”
“Okay then, keep me posted at all times,”
“Okay sir,”
Hanging the call, I called Doctor Hailey and thank God she picked up.
“Good evening, ma’am,”
“Good evening. Who are you and how can I help you?”
“Well, my name is Denzel and I am Mr. Tyrell’s secretary and I’m calling on his behalf,”
“Okay, what is the problem? Is Miss Mills okay?”
“Yes, she is fine but I am calling in relation to another matter entirely,”
“Okay then, make it quick because I am about to enter the operating room for a very important surgery,”
“Right; can a DNA test be done when a baby is still in its mother’s womb? The lady in question is in her third trimester,”
“With the advancement of technology, I think it is very possible although we would require some things for the DNA to be carried out but it’s advisable that the child be delivered first,”
“I see; well then, I will not waste your time any longer, thank you,”
“My regards to the Tyrells’, have a good night,”
INSIDE THE VENUE
(Author’s POV)
The party was going up a notch and it kept the atmosphere afloat. Lots of young entrepreneurs, all gathered in a hall to celebrate one another. No one knew where the tide of the event was going to take them but they all needed to be alert with one another; after all, there were foxes and lambs in one building.
Walking into the hall, hand in hand, Phoenix got compliments from fellow business gurus about the hall nd gave cards for further business while Sterling exchanged pleasantries. On the other end was Denzel, Olivia, Debby and Liyah, watching everyone like hawks until the unexpected happened.
Phoenix was about taking her seat when she heard a familiar voice from behind, calling out to her.
(Phoenix’s POV)
Wait a second; that voice sounds so familiar in my head---where have I heard it from? I turn to see who it is and then the whole world stood still—not the kind I feel when I’m with Sterling which is a good vibes but a bad vibe---Allen Martins.
I can’t let him see fear in my eyes and besides, he is old news now so I’ll just pretend like he doesn’t exist.
“Hi, Allen, it’s been a while,”
“Phoenix, a long time indeed,”
“I guess you’re also here for the gala; it’s such a dumb question, really--- of course, you’re here for the gala,”
“You still haven’t lost your sense of humor,”
“I’ll take that as a compliment. I guess you already know who this is, so there’s no need to introduce you two,”
“Yes, I know him; the famous Sterling Tyrell—who doesn’t know him!”
“Well, I am glad you know that. We’re just going to have our seats and let you be,”
“Nyx, wait!”
“I told you, do not call me that; you lost that right,”
“But I want to apologize for my past deeds,”
“I don’t care; you already got your punishment although Sterling’s intentions was to bankrupt your business. Thanks to me, I decided to pity you,”
“But…”
“Goodbye, Allen and do not cross my path anymore,”
“But I heard that someone is pregnant for Sterling; I don’t know but isn’t that cheating?”
Wait, what? I turned to Sterling and he looked at me too, probably confused too before saying
“Where did you hear that from?”
“Oh that, it’s all over the news,”
“You do not mean that--- babe, give me a few minutes,”
Sterling left me and walked towards Denzel and muttered some inaudible words to him and I couldn’t hear him from where I stood.
“Allen, trying to ruin my relationship with Allen won’t help you; quit trying and go back to Lisa,”
I have to leave this ungrateful bastard and find the crew. How on earth did that news get out? I look everywhere band I spotted them at corner of the all having a conversation and with the look of things, it isn’t going so well.
“What’s going on, Ollie?”
“Well, it turns out that the supposed mysterious pregnant lady whose name we didn’t know until seconds ago as Brianna Diego, some minutes ago posted a picture of herself on social media and it has garnered a lot of comments and retweets and the post is escalating,”
“It is time for us to leave here and think of a way to deal with this ugly situation,”
“I guess so but the event isn’t even over yet and leaving will make it obvious. I don’t know how many people here have seen it,”
“We still have to leave,” i face Sterling and he has a stern expression on his face “Babe, let us go home,”
If we don’t get out from here, everyone in here might see the post and tag it as another scandal. Rushing towards the door with Sterling’s hand in mine, another voice interrupted us and I felt Sterling stiffen besides me before turning back to look at who it was.
