It was like dejavu. I brought her back to my mansion. It was like the old time, I sat waiting for her to wake up.
The last time she was unconscious was because she attempted suicide. I didn't realize she'd woken up again, but with someone else's spirit, Janielle.
Now she was unconscious again, and I gripped her soft hand with hope filled my heart.
The doctor said she was just passed out, but it had been hours and she hadn't opened her beautiful eyes yet.
I remembered how terrified I got when I was told that she was unconscious because she had tried to kill herself.
At that time the feeling of regret got me. I wasn't there when she needed me. Then now, I was by her side and still couldn't take care of her.
(Flashback to chapter one from Barra's point of view)
It had been a long time since I met my old friend, Jazzlin Ozza. The news about the woman was circulating in the media. I still liked to find out about her.
She grew up to be a beautiful and independent woman, but lately there was a lot of bad news about the Ozza family. I didn't know where it came from. 'cause, it sounded real.
She repeatedly never appeared in any family events between my father and her father. That increasingly attracted me to come to each of their events, but still I couldn't find her.
Until one day, I found out that she always came home first when my family arrived. This really hurted my feelings, but I understood her.
She was probably still upset because of my sudden move and I didn't tell her about it that day.
I made my spoon and fork stirred my food. I might looked hungry, but my stomach said another.
"Young Master, we have news." Ronald approached me with his pale face. Ever since I got to know him, his face would turn pale when things got really out of hand.
"What's wrong?" Recently the Sanders family sent untrue threats to my family. Haytham had never done this before. Yeah, before he managed to occupy the third position in the billionaire order.
"It's from Rose Ozza."
Seeing me frowned, he immediately said, "Rose Ozza secretly telling you something about her daughter."
My face turned blank when I heard his last words, "What happened to Jazzlin?" I frantically asked him.
"She attempted suicide and still unconscious at this point."
Shocked was the first thing that came out of me. Her face that I saw last time appeared in my mind. I never thought she would do something like that. I never ever guessed it.
Jazzlin was never that fragile until her mind got stuck and decided to commit suicide.
"Young master?" Not getting any reaction from me, Ronald looked at me with raised eyebrows.
"Prepare my flight right now." I didn't care if it was night, dawn, or morning. It was the time I approached her. It was enough to hold back my longing for her. I would come for her.
He nodded then rushing out of the room.
"Tidy up everything." I told all the maids to clear the dining table.
"Jake, get all my things ready."
Jake nodded, "Are we coming over there too or just you?"
I thought while massaging my forehead, "No. I'll go there alone. You guys stay here and watch over the Sanders. Don't let them do anything else."
The trip should make me tired, but I wasn't. Maybe because my impatience wanted to see her, made my tiredness disappear in a glimmer.
My arrival was warmly welcomed by Rose Ozza, Jazzlin Ozza's mother.
She showed me a room for me to stay for a few days, but I insisted on seeing Jazzlin. I needed to know how her state was.
Her mother explained what her daughter had done to me when we headed to the room where she was being treated.
Her face was filled with sadness and pressure as she told me how she found her daughter was unconscious with blood on her wrist.
Hearing it, I felt worry with a pang of pain in my heart. How could Jazzlin do that?
Our steps were getting closer to a room. My heart passed its beat as the door opened.
I found myself going back into a place that I had ever set foot on for a long time. The scent was so familiar.
The paint was no longer pink, but white. The room looked simple with only useful things like a changing room, bathroom, king size bed and a large window there.
My breathing was getting heavier. In front of me her body fell weak on the white mattress. Her eyes were closed.
Moonlight entered through the window, shedding light on the darkness of the room.
"I'll wait outside." That's the last thing I heard from her mother.
I walked over to her. Her beauty took my breath away. I stopped breathing, staring at her curled lashes. The moonlight shone a flash of light on her perfect face.
Her blonde hair flowed down the white pillow. She smelled like jasmine, so striking my sense of smell.
My hand made its way, touched her hand. It felt soft and warm even though she was still unconscious.
I kissed the back of her hand then closed my eyes enjoying the comfort between us at night.
"Hey, I'm here." I whispered then got closer to her ear. My hand gently stroked her red cheeks, and smiled as my eyes stared at her innocent face.
"You know, I'm so happy to finally meet you. I'm sorry it took me so long to come here. I was scared as hell and didn't dare look at you after what happened." I sighed as she gave me no response.
"I was helpless when I knew you're in this condition. Hurry up and open your enchanting eyes and look at me. I promise I will tell you what I feel afterwards." Still no response.
I kissed her forehead, then looked at her once more. My longing for her was so great. I really wanted to hear a voice that I hadn't heard in a long time.
"Why? Why don't you ever want to see me again? I had been praying many times to be back with you like before. I think I just got the answer now. Sadly, you're not open your eyes." I said again accompanied by a crisp laugh that escaped my mouth.
"I miss you." My eyes began to close and I didn't realize I fell asleep next to her because my eyes felt heavy.
Sun rays hit my face. My eyes slowly opened, I sat down then looked next to me. Jazzlin was still in her lie down position.
I rubbed my eyes, then lurched in a sitting state, realizing that last night I fell asleep quickly.
It had been a long time since I slept that soundly. Usually work and other things made me wide awake at night.
My body felt so relax. I got up as I went to the bathroom and washed my face.
The annoyance came back to me when I looked at my face in the mirror. If only I were with her, I might knew what caused her to commit suicide attempts.
My hands ruffled my hair irregularly then went back into the room.
The second day I was there, there was no change at all in her. That night, I stayed up late, couldn't sleep again because my worries soared. I was afraid she would never open her eyes.
I kept praying and hoping for a miracle might happen. We all really needed a miracle, moreover doctors had started to become hands off in this matter.
Money cannot bring herself back. How much property that's owned will never be able to buy herself anywhere. She's one in the million, only one.
I pulled the chair, then sat on it, not breaking my gaze from her.
I was not getting bored as I kept staring at her beautiful face until I memorized every shape and line of it.
My eyes sharpened, realizing something was happening. Her stomach seemed to be moving up and down. I looked at her face, right on her nose. She was breathing properly.
I couldn't help but to call her, "Jazzlin! You're wake up." I called her with a feeling of extraordinarily happy.
I caught the glimpse of her fingers as it moved. I was getting more and more sure she had regained consciousness.
"Jazzlin, can you hear me? Jazzlin?"
As response she groaned in pain. I didn't know how she was feeling other than whispering back, "Shushh, calm down, Jazzlin."
Her eyes had started to open but were repeatedly closed again. I waited for her to open them, but they didn't open until I realized what the barrier was.
"I'll close the curtains."
After I closed it, I sat back down and waiting patiently like before.
And that's when she really opened them up. I didn't know why I was so unprepared to be the first person she looked at.
My thoughts went to what happened before and couldn't help but to think, is she still disappointed in me?
She blinked before staring at me for a long time. Under her gaze was like my breath had been snatched away by her.
I didn't know how to breathe anymore. She really had taken my breath away from me.
Her eyes were like interrogating my appearance with her gaze tracing my entire being.
My arrogant smile left when her gaze turned to my lips.
