This is the ’Twelve Postures’, named after twelve kinds of creatures from the natural world. Because animals have an inherent instinct to protect their survival with unique characteristics, martial artists use them as a reference or symbol in martial art applications.
Thus, the ’Twelve Postures’ are striking skills, combat arts.
The ’Five Forms’ in the ’Five Forms Eight Techniques Fist’ focus on ’training’ and ’refinement’, mainly emphasizing unity of inner and outer, maintaining form and spirit, and strengthening oneself internally with a focus on the foundation.
