"In the VIP lounge on the second floor. He and that Huang Ban employee just went in not long ago. They might be watching Superdream or playing with a love doll, but it doesn’t matter. He doesn’t have much combat ability."
"Next, I’ll help you take down the guard patrolling the hallway balcony, but remember to keep it quiet. Don’t draw anyone else’s attention. If there’s a risk of exposure, I’ll create a distraction on the first floor. You must withdraw quickly. Understood?"
They acted immediately. The two of them treaded carefully over huge sealed pipelines, cautiously crossing the building and jumping onto the rooftop of the Phoenix Club on the fourth floor. Below was the exterior balcony of the third floor, where the guard was still leaning against the balcony, smoking.
Lin Miao then carefully held a dagger in his mouth, stepping on the air conditioners at the edge, and slowly jumped to the third floor, moving along the window ledge towards the corner. The place was chaotic enough that from below, all you could see were metal sheets and air conditioners, making it hard to spot him.
Once Lin Miao was in position, Lucy threw her monomolecular wire from the rooftop down to the balcony, drawing a strange curving arc. Her pupils turned gold and red, with streams of data flashing rapidly through her eyes. The smoking guard seemed to sense something, but the monomolecular wire had already fiercely stabbed into the slot at the back of his neck, freezing all his cybernetic limbs. Realizing he was hacked, he wanted to call for help, but no matter how hard he tried, his lips wouldn’t open even slightly.
After receiving Lucy’s cue, Lin Miao swiftly rounded the corner, leaped to the balcony railing in two jumps, slit the opponent’s throat with a knife, stabbed another into the temple, and then leaned the body backwards, dragging it into the dead corner of the balcony.
The whole process was as smooth as flowing water, and Lin Miao even doubted whether he could apply to become an Assassin. Then he turned his head to look.
An unfolded turret had its muzzle aimed at him from the opened shuttered window. The good news was that Lucy had turned off the cannon ahead of time, or else he could have been a dead man in just one more second.
Moreover, the sound of ads and music in the room was incredibly loud, with several speakers shaking the windows. There were a few people sitting motionless on the couch in the living room.
But this provided Lin Miao with excellent cover. He carefully climbed over the balcony, stepping on an air conditioner to enter the bedroom through the window.
When it came to these electronically controlled industrial shutter windows, Lucy, already infiltrating the Tiger Claw gang’s intranet, could open them whenever she wanted.
Upon stepping into the room, a strange odor assaulted Lin Miao’s nose, forcing him to shut down his sense of smell.
The not-so-large room was half-occupied by a bed, on which scattered women’s underwear, evident that a vigorous battle had just ended.
Lin Miao didn’t have time for these. He carefully scanned every place in the room where the chip box might be hidden.
Based on Lucy’s previous observations at the hotel, she was sure that Zhengfa Chengtailang had brought the items to the third floor, but there were no cameras in the bedroom or the living room, and his hands were empty when he left the third floor.
However, Lin Miao searched the bookshelf by the bedside and found nothing. The coffee table and the computer desk in front were also empty, and there was no hidden compartment under the bed.
All the evidence suggested this was just a place for Zhengfa Chengtailang to toy with women.
"Lucy, nothing in the bedroom."
"Then it should be on the computer desk in the living room."
"There’re people in the living room, quite a few of them. Of course, I could just walk out there if they don’t shoot me full of holes."
"Two of them are watching Superdream, don’t worry about them. I’ll create a small commotion on the first floor. Make the hit quickly, 30 seconds; whether you find it or not, retreat immediately."
Lin Miao pressed against the door, holding a gun fitted with a silencer.
The gambling machines on the second floor, running at high speed, suddenly malfunctioned. Small balls leaked out like rain, and all sorts of slot machines flashed like DJ lights, instantly capturing the entire casino’s attention, even drawing in the guards standing on the third floor.
Lin Miao immediately opened the door, fired twice at the customers absorbed in Superdream, sending them into permanent sleep, never to wake from their pleasant dreams again. He then pocketed the Superdream headsets they were wearing.
He rushed to the computer desk and started rummaging around.
Under the desk, he found a black box, opened it to see eight chips neatly arranged inside.
"Got it. This should be it."
He then opened the cabinet, which contained scattered cash, likely around thirty to forty thousand. Given it’s an underground venue, many illicit transactions prefer cash to avoid detection.
Lin Miao grabbed the few remaining wads and stuffed them into his long bag, muttering to himself.
"So poor yet trying to run a nightclub."
One couldn’t entirely blame Zhengfa Chengtailang, as there would typically be around seventy to eighty thousand in cash, but he had just purchased chips from the Huang Ban employee and hadn’t replenished it yet.
Time to slip away. If only there were more time, he would love to take apart the opponent’s computer and those two bodies with him.
Just as he was returning to the bedroom, preparing to escape through the window, a female voice that didn’t belong to Lucy suddenly echoed in his ears.
"Found you, two little mice."
Simultaneously, there were sounds of many footsteps outside, clearly indicating the entire Tiger Claw gang in the club was heading upstairs.
Lucy’s urgent voice echoed in his ears, "They have a hacker; I’m tangled up by her Demonic Puppet (Trojan virus). You must retreat immediately."
