Brother Dao, disbelieving in witchcraft, squeezed the muscle and joint on the arm. The metallic feel beneath the muscle, obviously different from bone, left him astonished.

Because of the augmented limbs, the efficiency of the players improved slightly. However, a lot of time was wasted due to the injuries and treatments earlier, so they couldn’t rent a vehicle again to collect more materials from the junkyard. In the end, they used up all two tons of material they had, and it still wasn’t enough by a large margin.
Even if it’s just simple composite panels mixed with rebar, a large wall still requires a significant amount of material.
With two hours left before the game time ends, nine players agreed to log in to Night Watch duty at night, or what they call daytime on their side.
In addition to the usual task of collecting materials, Lin Miao issued another daily task called the [Night Watcher].

Any of these three words could make a player ecstatic.

If monsters spawn, using the organization’s gun might even yield some extra cash, oh sweet.
Some players even started to lament how great it’d be if all nine could stay overnight on duty.
They could haul the NPC’s rice and fix houses simultaneously.
Earning double the money!
It’d be even better if there were a monster siege, then it’d be even more awesome.
The first to volunteer to stay behind and take the shift with Lin Miao was Brother Dao.
He stood on the watchtower, caressing every inch of the machine gun’s metal as if he were enamored with a lover’s skin.
Men and suppressors aren’t so different.
And this thing was just too big. Big enough that Brother Dao couldn’t believe the boss when he said this was a light machine gun.
If this is a light machine gun, I’ll eat my hat. Its size was completely comparable to the medium machine guns he saw in newspapers, 1.3 meters long, and Brother Dao tested it. The weight alone was at least 15kg; without cybernetic limbs, an ordinary person couldn’t handle its recoil when firing.

A hydroponics workshop without seeds wouldn’t be productive anytime soon. It couldn’t run on a large scale without being costly and labor-intensive. Even though organic food was expensive in Night City, they had dedicated buildings to grow vegetables. Meat was expensive, but vegetables and fruits were high-consumption, not yet reaching the level of luxury.
Spending a few dozen euros could still get you a small plate of veggies and fruits in some restaurants.
Why grow them? For the players to eat?
In reality, they eat veggies and meat daily, isn’t that enough? If they want to eat more, they can log off and buy a melon to munch on.
Games are meant for synthesized food experiences.
It’s the novelty they’re after!
Though water purifiers seem able to generate economic benefits, they can’t be built in the town due to being large and costly, and the work being tedious. They must be adjacent to a river. Most players wouldn’t want to do such uninteresting work. You can only rely on Adcardo’s people if you want to build it.
But the current relationship between the two sides isn’t good enough for that level of cooperation.
So, Lin Miao could either build three employee dormitories in a row or wait for luck with card draws.
Just as he was pondering whether to bring another batch of players up as cannon fodder before Saturday, a communication interrupted his thoughts.
"Lin, do you have a moment?"
"Why contact me at this time, Miss Lucy? Do you have any questions about the mission in a few days?"
"What’s wrong? Can’t I just chat with you without having a reason?"
Lucy’s voice sounded a bit displeased.

After finishing, as a few members of the Tiger Claw gang noticed her, she extinguished her cigarette and walked toward the bar’s exit before they could make a move to chat her up, disappearing into the crowd.
