Omar Hassan stepped into the large hallway towards the party that he had been invited to courtesy of his sister, who had insisted that he come. Milka was a no-nonsense woman, who had an advantage over him such that he could not say no to anything she ever said. And now, he was going to have to suffer the presence of these women who were already looking at him like vultures. Their ears covered in diamonds and expensive jewelry. This party was in honor of Mr. Marcus, who was getting engaged for the third time to someone else.
He did not even know how his sister had thought he should attend such a ceremony. He did not see the need but as everything always went with his sister he was here. Though now, he was grimacing, when he saw Monalisa, the actress he had bedded when Lisa was out of his life. There were several people whom he knew he had bedded and this place felt like a cage. To make matters worse, he did not have a plus one and knowing these people the way he did, they would be all over him in a minute. It did not matter that he was a ruthless bastard. Who did not like money?
Taking a deep breath, he adjusted his coat, and walked in. the house was huge and the ground floor had been cleared into a large space, with tables lining the entire area. There were seats place around each table, with name plates placed on every table so as to demarcate who was invited. Walking beneath the starry lights that illuminated the house, he moved to his table, where he met his sister. Milka stood with a flourish and was by his side in an instance. Kissing his cheeks, she dragged him towards their table where she could grill him with her questions.
Omar looked around and the people he saw here were all nearly famous. Some were actresses and others business men who were influential in their spheres of life. He knew as well that this was a good opportunity to talk to Mr. Qin wen who was a guest of honor in this event. Mr. Qin had proven to be elusive and he now more than ever wanted to close the deal with him, though the older conservative man seemed to be having scruples about his capability to run things since he was not married. He wanted to have the opportunity to speak to him and try to convince him that he was more than capable, and he should not give the tender to his business competitors, something he was likely to do.
It was while he was looking around the area that his breath stuck to his chest, threatening to stay there. There she was, Lisa Morgan in the flesh, standing next to Alex her friend. What was Lisa doing here, he found himself wandering. Before he could even realize what, he was doing, he was standing and on his way towards her before reason could reinstall itself. What did he want to tell her, that he had not intended to betray her or that he was sorry for everything? Yet he knew there was no hope of Lisa ever listening to him.
