Overlord: Ancient one Chapter 103

Evil Eye's words hung heavy in the air, casting a pall of uncertainty over Surshana's thoughts. "A deal?" he echoed, his voice tinged with disbelief. "What sort of deal could you have possibly made with someone like him?" "Look around you, Evil Eye. Look at what he has done to this world, to our people," Surshana retorted, his voice laced with bitterness. "But let's not forget, everything you love, everything I love, was destroyed by him." "Everything you love is destroyed, Surshana. Everything I love, was destroyed centuries ago by you and your so-called NPCs." Evil Eye screamed at him as she watched. Anger was practically seen from her eyes as she looked at Surshana. "And for what? So you could rise from death and fight against the Greed Kings, conquer this world? And did you succeed? No. All of my kingdom, my people, my mother, my father, my sister, my brother... You turned them all into savage monsters, and you didn't even give them a proper burial, a shred of respect." "And even after losing against the Greed Kings and losing all your people (NPCs), you didn't stop. You built a temple and made yourself the great god. A god so selfish that you experimented on humans to make them weapons against." "It was a necessary sacrifice." Surshana said. But there was no guilt in his voice, no remorse for the atrocities he had committed. As an undead, he was free from the burden of guilt, his actions justified by his desire for power and revenge. "Necessary? What necessity could possibly justify the destruction you've wrought?" Evil Eye countered, her voice tinged with incredulity. "You, the Great Gods, and the Greed Kings, *murmuring* Ancient one—all driven by the same insatiable desire for power and control. You wage war upon war, killing millions without a second thought, all in the pursuit of your selfish ambitions." Surshana's expression remained unchanged, his demeanor cold and unyielding. "Power is the only currency that matters in this world," he replied, his voice devoid of emotion. "And in order to attain it, sacrifices must be made." "Sacrifices? You call the deaths of countless innocents sacrifices?" Evil Eye retorted, her anger simmering beneath the surface. "You have the power to reshape this world, to create a better future for all its inhabitants. But instead, you choose to indulge in your own desires, leaving nothing but death and despair in your wake." Surshana's gaze hardened, his resolve unshaken by her words. "Co-existence is a fantasy, a naive dream born from the minds of those too weak to seize what they desire," he declared, his voice dripping with contempt. "In this world, only the strong survive. And look at Ancient One, because he is strong, all his actions are justified. He killed billions, and nobody has the power to stop him. The only reason you even have the guts to talk to me is because of him," Surshana continued, his words laced with bitterness. Evil Eye's hand tightened around the hilt of her sword, her eyes flashing with determination as she faced Surshana, her resolve unyielding in the face of his arrogance. "You are indeed an irredeemable bastard till the end, Surshana," she spat, her voice dripping with disdain. Surshana's lips curled into a mocking smirk as he regarded her with contempt. "And you are nothing but a fool, clinging to false ideals in a world that has long since abandoned them," he retorted, his tone filled with scorn. But Evil Eye remained undeterred, her grip on her sword steady. "Do you know this sword? It was given to me by my mother to slay you, you bastard." Surshana scoffed at her words, his confidence unwavering. "You think you can kill me with such a low-level item? It can't even penetrate through my defense," he sneered. Hearing this, Evil Eye turned to Arthur, who was watching the confrontation with keen interest. "Just put that sword to his neck and cut it off. There's no need to be afraid of his puny defense," Arthur advised, his voice calm and authoritative. Evil Eye nodded in understanding, her determination fueled by Arthur's words. Without hesitation, she moved forward, her sword aimed directly at Surshana's neck. Surshana's eyes widened in surprise as he realized her intent, but it was too late. With a swift motion, Evil Eye's blade sliced through his bones, as skull rolled to the ground. Arthur approached Evil Eye, "Are you happy that you are able to fullfill your revenge." Arthur regarded Evil Eye with a mixture of curiosity and concern. "No, Ancient One-sama," she replied solemnly. Then, in a whisper, she added, "I feel like I made a deal with Evil beyond understanding just to kill some ants." "That you are right, Evil Eye," Arthur said, his tone serious. "But I warned you before, didn't I? You were going to make a deal with something worse than them." Evil Eye nodded, a flicker of regret crossing her features. "Yes, Ancient One-sama," she admitted, her voice tinged with sorrow. "But I had to do it. I had to seek revenge for all those who suffered at their hands." Arthur placed a comforting hand on her shoulder, his gaze filled with understanding. "I know, Evil Eye," he said softly. "And I don't fault you for it. But remember, revenge comes at a cost, one that we must be willing to bear. Your cost is you will be mine for eternity." Follow current ɴᴏᴠᴇʟs on 𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹•𝕗𝕚𝕣𝕖•𝗇𝗲𝘁 "That what the our contact says, and I have to follow it right." She said with a sad smile. "That is the nature of our contract, and we must abide by its terms. But know that I will do everything in my power to ensure that you are treated with kindness and respect for all eternity."
