Naruto: Born Evil? Chapter 61

Amid the torrential rain— The sound of slicing wind echoed through the storm. Scattered projectiles—shuriken and kunai—flashed with deadly intent, falling alongside the rain toward the Uchiha squad. Thanks to their Sharingan, the Uchiha easily predicted where the projectiles would land, dodging or deflecting them with their blades. Nono looked alert, dodging a shuriken that grazed her cheek by pure instinct. Everyone understood—this opening volley was just the prelude to the real battle. "What are we waiting for? Let's attack together—those few Uchiha are as good as dead!!" Seeing others had made a move, thousands of ninja from various factions, spurred by a shouted command, simultaneously drew their kunai, ready to launch a coordinated strike. Tens of thousands of ninja using throwing techniques— It would be enough to turn the Uchiha into human pincushions. Just as they drew their weapons, though, horrified cries broke out as people nearby suddenly revealed glowing marks in their pupils—symbols of the Mangekyo. "Damn it! Are you crazy?!" A rogue ninja leader shouted in terror, watching as the subordinate behind him, kunai in hand, suddenly stabbed him in the kidney. Blood gushed forth. "S-sorry, sir... I... I can't control myself!" As he spoke, the subordinate's eyes flickered again with the Mangekyo mark. He pulled out another kunai and stabbed toward the leader's rear. Within moments, cries of agony and panic erupted from the temporary alliance of ten thousand ninja. Roughly 500 of them were fully under Uchiha Yu's control. Unlike Root members, these rogue and minor village ninjas lacked strong mental defenses. That made them easy prey for Yu's ocular jutsu. He had deliberately positioned these controlled ninjas within the heart of their own ranks—so that when they went berserk, their wild, indiscriminate attacks would sow maximum chaos and prevent anyone from using large-scale throwing techniques. Ninjas from every faction gave up on the throwing plan and turned to subdue or kill the crazed allies in their midst. Now, they truly felt the oppressive weight of Uchiha Yu's eerie ocular power. They didn't even know when they had fallen under his genjutsu! Near the forest edge— Yu observed the battlefield, analyzing the situation. The answer was obvious: it happened the moment they made eye contact with him. Anyone who entered a 500-meter radius and looked into his eyes would be instantly marked by the Yasakani—an imprint planted from a distance. The farther the distance, the longer it took to imprint and the easier it was to notice. If only Yu's own spiritual strength and chakra reserves were greater, then just a glance at this ragtag army of misfits would have been enough to control all ten thousand of them. "He can't possibly control all of us! Everyone charge! Just kill Uchiha Yu and his genjutsu will break!" "Don't look him in the eyes—whatever you do, don't look directly into Uchiha Yu's eyes!!" A Konoha ninja from the Shimura clan roared in anger, leading his fellow clansmen in a direct charge. They were supposed to enjoy Konoha's best resources under Danzo's leadership. But Yu had killed Danzo, spelling the Shimura clan's downfall. Over ten thousand ninja abandoned the 500+ controlled comrades in their ranks and launched an assault toward the forest's edge. Waves of shinobi surged up the hillside where the Uchiha team was positioned. To the major powers, the best strategy was obvious: some shinobi would press the assault directly, while others launched ranged elemental ninjutsu from the rear. "Whoa!?" Nono's pupils widened. She took two steps back, pressing up beside Yu. "There are that many of them!?" Only when the enemy crowd drew within ten meters did she realize in horror—the black shapes she'd thought were just tree trunks in the forest… were all enemy ninjas. Without her glasses, Nono couldn't recognize friend from foe at five meters—and at ten, she couldn't even tell trees from people! Izumi glanced over, worried for Nono. Her Sharingan, now with three tomoe, flared as she stared around them—but the sheer number of enemies left her feeling powerless. There were just too many. Uchiha Mikoto, surprisingly, let out a long breath and gripped her kunai tighter. All she needed to do was give her best. She knew she would eventually fall under the overwhelming assault—then she wouldn't have to keep seeking a way to die. She looked briefly at Yu. If possible, she hoped he would survive… for the Uchiha. In front of them, enemy shinobi surged like a tidal wave, drawing blades and kunai as they charged the Uchiha team. From the back rows, ninja synchronized their hand signs, unleashing their best ranged jutsu: "Wind Style: Great Breakthrough!" "Fire Style: Grand Fireball Jutsu!" "Water Style: Wild Water Wave!" Even through the heavy rain, the release of chakra elements created a terrifying shockwave. Wind wrapped around fire, resisting the rain's suppression—hot flames fused with slicing air currents, and torrents of water surged forward from all directions, aiming straight for the Uchiha's position. The Uchiha team's peripheral vision caught a terrifying sight to the right— Blazing flames lit up the dark forest. Thousands of fire-style attacks merged into a sea of fire, laced with deadly wind jutsu. Thousands more unleashed water-style jutsu. Raging currents barreled forward like an unstoppable mudslide. Between the gaps of various jutsu, enemy shinobi had already reached the area surrounding the hillside, cutting off all of the Uchiha squad's escape routes. All around them were only trees. The Uchiha squad had no other cover. Even though each of them possessed the Three Tomoe Sharingan, it was useless in the face of such large-scale ninjutsu. Some of the Uchiha looked up toward the cliff, while others glanced at Kimimaro, who was just as tense beside them. None could understand why Orochimaru, who had arrived on the battlefield early, was not taking action. When the Uchiha turned to look back— They were shocked to see that Uchiha Yu still looked completely calm, the black blade in his hand unmoved. The Uchiha immediately felt reassured and abandoned their naive hope of relying on others. At the cliffside of the Valley of Judgement— "Record this—Uchiha Yu's control-type ocular jutsu has a range of roughly 500 to 600 meters," Hyūga Hiashi said, narrowing his eyes and instructing his branch family clansmen. Besides overseeing the battle, he was also tasked with collecting intelligence on Uchiha Yu. Uchiha Yu had used his ocular jutsu to disrupt the coordinated throwing techniques of ten thousand ninjas, effectively neutralizing the first wave of attacks. But how would he counter this second wave—an onslaught of mixed-element jutsu combined with a close-range ambush? Tsunade, Orochimaru, and Jiraiya wore solemn expressions as they too pondered how Uchiha Yu would break the deadlock. Even if he could survive this dense wave of attacks, the Uchiha around him would likely all perish. Orochimaru focused intently on the battlefield. If Uchiha Yu couldn't hold the front— Orochimaru would naturally abandon this ally, scrapping all previous plans. The Konoha Collapse Plan would proceed by his hand alone. Even if they were just cannon fodder, ten thousand ninjas launching ninjutsu and ambushes simultaneously posed a tremendous threat—even to the Kage of the great villages. Take, for example, the Third Raikage, who fought against ten thousand Iwa-nin for three days and nights before dying from exhaustion. A thick bolt of lightning split the sky. For a moment, the flash turned night into day, illuminating Uchiha Yu's flawless, handsome face, his proud stance, and the sharp black blade in his hand. He stabbed his black blade into the ground. His Mangekyō glowed with red light. In that instant, the ninjas he had marked began to fall one after another. Torrents of chakra surged toward him, centering on his body, transforming into earth and water attributes as they poured into the ground. Around them, the ranged jutsu of enemy ninjas had already begun to descend. The Uchiha—along with Nonoyu and Kimimaro—who had barely repelled the first wave, stood with difficulty, their chakra nearly drained, faces filled with despair. "What's happening... Why am I feeling so drained right now of all times?" Uchiha Minami cried out in terror. Everyone fell into thought, recalling the incident where an entire merchant caravan outside the Tsuchigumo Clan's land had become mysteriously weakened. All eyes turned to Uchiha Yu. The ground suddenly shook violently. The trees around the Uchiha—their only remaining cover—began to grow wildly. Branches twisted into vines, quickly coiling around and forming a ten-meter-wide dome of living wood, constantly reinforcing itself from the outside, completely enclosing the Uchiha squad. Their eyes trembled as the last ray of light disappeared, plunging them into darkness. All the jutsu landed on the wooden dome at once. The air trembled with shockwaves and thunderous blasts—but they couldn't move the barrier even slightly. Hyūga Hiashi gritted his teeth and quickly ordered his clansmen to record Uchiha Yu's abilities. Equally shocked at his use of Wood Style were the Sannin and Shizune watching from the other cliff. Orochimaru stuck out his tongue, licking his lips in excitement. His curiosity about Uchiha Yu grew stronger. Jiraiya furrowed his brow, glancing over at Orochimaru. The smoke dissipated. The rain continued to fall. At the border between the Valley of Judgement and the ancient forest— A thousand ninja had advanced to within five hundred meters of the Uchiha squad and once again launched an assault against the dome of wood. Just then, over a thousand of them suddenly realized that something had wrapped around or touched their feet—fine vines. They thought little of it and easily broke free of the weak vines—but the next moment, all their pupils displayed the distinctive Mangekyo mark. Had clearly never made eye contact with Uchiha Yu. The tree barrier fell away, revealing Uchiha Yu's face. He coldly swept his gaze across the thousand or so stunned and motionless shinobi. The Yasakani, aside from working through eye contact, could also mark targets through physical contact. Even though these ninjas hadn't looked directly at Uchiha Yu, he had deliberately let them get close, using Wood Style to activate the second method and mark them. Thus, Uchiha Yu had secured the core power to control all remaining cannon fodder nearby with Yasakani. Seeing the tide of battle shift dramatically, Manda's emerald vertical pupils flashed with excitement. Unable to restrain itself, the massive snake slithered down the cliff toward the front lines. This Uchiha Yu was clearly someone worth helping. The surrounding shinobi watched in horror as large swathes of forest were flattened under a massive body. Soon after, the enormous Manda used its long form to encircle a vast number of enemy shinobi. Ignoring them, it raised its head and hissed, its serpentine eyes staring down at Uchiha Yu as it rumbled: "Orochimaru told this great one to inform you— The main Konoha forces guarding the northwestern border of the Land of Fire are on their way here. You don't have much time left to deal with this trash. Let this great one eat a hundred of them, and I'll help you take care of the rest!" Uchiha Yu looked up at the massive serpent and coldly said just one word: Manda was about to erupt in anger—when it suddenly realized, to its shock, that it couldn't move. Its emerald pupils trembled as the Mangekyō imprint of the Yasakani flared into a blade-shaped glow within them! Hungry for more chaps? Then check out our pătreon!
