Mythology Rebooted Chapter 66

66: Chapter 63: Don’t contact me anymore, afraid the Goddess might misunderstand 66: Chapter 63: Don’t contact me anymore, afraid the Goddess might misunderstand “Who’s there?” Sidney said with a cold face, speaking quickly, eager to end the conversation immediately. The Void Lord, former Legendary Mage Marshall was once Sidney’s pride, proud to have a Legendary Mage as a teacher. Later, well, those who know will understand, wishing he could go back and shoot himself. Damn it, stop laughing, this terrible old man is going to ruin you! Sidney wanted to distance himself from his teacher, but alas, it wasn’t up to him, not to mention their bond as mentor and student. The stains of his teacher were his own and wouldn’t withstand the relentless pursuit of political enemies. Just take what he had learned, all from his teacher, who could find him anytime, anywhere. Sidney was puzzled, other Legendary Mages went mad, burying themselves in the Star Realm Cosmos, never to reemerge, until their thoughts dissolved into complete insanity. His teacher, on the other hand, didn’t do that. He left behind a Golden Statue imprint, occasionally returning home to pay a visit and chat with his student. When the news first broke that Marshall had gone mad and betrayed The Church, Sidney was skeptical, suspecting it was political persecution, the upper echelons starting their favorite infighting again. The teacher was just a bit eccentric by nature, but still a Mage with firm beliefs. Not until Marshall’s token twisted into the Golden Statue, changing his name to Void Lord, did Sidney truly believe. He tried to throw away the Golden Statue, but it always returned to him. At their first meeting, Sidney categorically set boundaries, a devout believer would never associate with a traitor—no further contact, he feared the Nature Goddess would misunderstand. The Void Lord smiled and gave Sidney an address, where several boxes of magic books were buried, detailing how to ascend from Golden Mage to Legendary Mage. Sidney couldn’t resist the temptation. His mouth said no, but his body honestly reached the targeted address. He unearthed the precious magic books, and unable to dispose of the Golden Statue, he hid it in a void of his own thoughts. During their second meeting, Sidney repeated his plea, no more contact, fearing the Goddess’s misunderstanding. The Void Lord still responded with a smile, this time bringing parchments that recorded the knowledge behind the Gate of Truth, including the Life Magic that the Naturalism Church had been studying. Sidney remained silent for a long time, shamefully calling out “teacher” once more. The third time, the Void Lord began to make requests. Of course, claiming to be a caring teacher, he wouldn’t force his student; Sidney could refuse. Sidney very much wanted to refuse, but he knew he couldn’t afford the cost of refusal. If word that he maintained contact with a traitor got out, The Church wouldn’t spare him. At best, a warrant for his arrest, multiple sects issuing rewards and attracting the disgusting Liberty Mage Alliance Bounty Hunters; at worst, direct delivery to the Red Leaf Forest Asylum, with a private room all for himself. Sidney knew all too well about the Red Leaf Forest Asylum, a place where even the sane would go mad. Initially, the requests the Void Lord made weren’t excessive, nor were they difficult, but after several accumulations, the Void Lord asked him to secretly send the Golden Statue out of Lundan. Sidney immediately refused vehemently, impossible, not even through the door. In the midst of the Void Lord’s cold sneer, he lowered his head and silently took the Golden Statue to send it away. He clearly remembered that the delivery location wasn’t Windsor, but damn it, the Earth Core Cult was established in Enrold Town and they played with mass sacrifices insanely. That time, the Void Lord told Sidney that this was the teacher’s last request to his student, and he would never disturb him again. Sidney didn’t commit himself to a response, but considering the Golden Statue was sent away, it should be the last time. Today, the Golden Statue has reconverged. The damn old guy is so rotten, not a word true in his mouth! Sidney regretted it immensely, how good it would have been if he hadn’t gone to dig up the boxes. “His name is Wayne, it should be that name, a Mage apprentice, likely from Lundan, he stayed in Enrold Town for a while…” The Golden Statue flickered with light, projecting a portrait directly in front of Sidney: “Find him, but do not kill him. Bring him to me, I want to see him.” Sidney didn’t ask why, committed the face in the photograph to memory, and said in a low voice, “Marshall, this is the last time!” “Of course, I swear.” Sidney bowed his head in silent misery, knowing there’s no such thing as the last time in infidelity, only zero or countless times. No, he had to find a way out, if he didn’t shake off this bastard’s entanglement, there could only be a dead end for him. There was a way, like the Red Leaf Forest Asylum, but it was too complicated to operate, and if not careful, he could fall into it himself. Sidney had considered it before and abandoned it due to the high risks. This time, the Earth Core Cult incident made his scalp tingle, and compared to being killed by the Void Lord, the risk index of the Red Leaf Forest Asylum immediately dropped. After all, the worst outcome was ending up in the asylum, so why shouldn’t I take the initiative? “Heh heh, my student, it seems you are troubled?” The Void Lord chuckled ominously. What troubles me, as if you didn’t know? Sidney spoke with a cold expression, “There are indeed some troubles. For some reason, the Death Knight has left Paris, and he is now in Lundan. Witnesses have seen his warhorse and his sword.” “Impossible!” the Void Lord declared. “Teacher, you seem to know something?” Turn to the teacher for advice in difficult times, and look to Marshall in peace; the moral bottom line was quite flexible. Sidney’s brow quirked upward; the old man was indeed a bastard, but he had to admit that when it came to intelligence, the old man certainly had a knack. “The Death Knight’s head was stolen, and he is now not in control of himself; he has no choice but to obey others and has already forsaken death.” The Void Lord spoke enthusiastically, “The once invincible Death Knight is now just a prisoner under someone else’s control. His honor, his pride, his freedom, all stripped away. My student, do you know how fascinating the world outside the God-chosen Continent is?” Sidney swallowed hard, deeply surprised by the Void Lord’s words, and urged impatiently, “Where the hell are you, what have you seen?” “Hahaha, I have seen the nature of gods, my student, your faith is insignificant, do not believe in…” Sidney’s face turned ashen. He turned and walked away quickly: “I will find that person for you, and I hope you will keep your promise. This is the last time, or else, I would rather perish with you than be at your mercy anymore.” The Golden Statue’s light receded, murmuring, “The Awakened are converging, under His shelter and guidance, the beliefs in gods are frail…” “My student, you had better step into legend quickly; a new era is about to dawn.” Clatter, clatter, clatter! Graves cloaked in mist, the clear sound of iron hooves shattering the still, cold silence, injecting a touch of fresh vitality. If you don’t look at the face, that’s indeed the case. But looking at the face, the atmosphere grows even colder. Wayne, wearing the skin of the Death Knight, riding an Undead Horse, walking an Evil Spirit Dog, and swinging a White Bone Longsword, roared after the Skeleton Rabbits in the grass. Once he learned the dog’s trick of chasing rabbits, he embarked on an irreversible path! Regardless of whether the Death Knight’s imposingness was diminished, Wayne found joy, and when he was happy, Yuliya and Ah Bin were happy too. A flash of white light, and the Skeleton Rabbit was instantly shattered into pieces; three seconds later, its skeleton reassembled and continued hopping in the bushes. Wayne was a bit fed up and turned his gaze toward the mounds with their standing gravestones. If he remembered correctly, burial was the custom here, with the deceased facing east, symbolizing resurrection at sunrise. Sunrise was out of the question; instead, there was a clump of fuzzy moonlight. Wayne lifted the Shadowmare high above his head, a flash of white light and a surge of cold, deathly aura ensued. Ripples rushed past, and the graveyard fell into brief silence for a moment; the next second, a host of leaky figures heeded the call, pushing open the decayed coffins and crawling out from underneath. In the hazy moonlight, the Death Knight mounted his warhorse, dividing hundreds of Skeleton Soldiers into two detachments, leading one side to fight against the other. March into Lundan Town and let the blood flow in its streets? “Master, your horsemanship is getting more and more impressive; truly a prodigy,” Ah Bin praised, clearly seeing Yuliya was ridden splendidly. “Not bad, mainly because I’ve kept in good shape, no extra flesh.” Wayne mocked himself, shaking his skeleton head. The vest of the Death Knight was all fine, except for the absence of desire. Yesterday he did not understand, but today it seemed clear to him: he lacked hormones, nothing but a hollow head, a smart intellect occupying the high ground, naturally devoid of worldly desires. After a vigorous clash, Wayne slashed the last Skeleton Soldier into pieces, starting to feel a bit bored. Enjoying oneself alone is not as fun as involving others, and his gaze drifted towards the direction outside the graveyard. Was it possible, to lead Skeleton Soldiers through the streets in the dead of night, personally crafting a new urban legend?
