She couldn't stay focused even for a sec the whole day. 'If only it were that easy to just boycott this whole working crap and go home.' Instead of the day being short, today seemed like the longest day ever. The rainy weather too seemed to fuck everything up.
And yet another day to get soaked in the rain. If anyone had told her that this pissing rain would be the reason her fantasy came true, she'd have probably stabbed the person in the butt.
Instead of walking home as usual, today she decided to ride home in a cab. It was twilight when she arrived, but instead of walking to her door while fetching her keys, she walked to the adjacent house.
' Strange _ Mr. Handsome is not idling on his porch as always. His door is even locked. Where the hell did he go today of all days?' She pondered.
She knocked on his door a couple of times, but got no response. She rang the doorbell continuously… still no response.
"Alex! You home?" She called out loud as she spied through the half opened window. His house was well kept in order. His kitchen was like it had never been used before. She went round the house, spying through all the windows… to no avail.
She knocked on the back door. When she still got no response. She sighed in defeat.
"We're gonna have this conversation sweetheart, if you like don't show up today. If you wanna blackmail me, it only means that you want something from me. I'll be waiting right here when you come to get it." She promised aloud.
Him not being at home only strengthened her suspicion. Alex was always home, whenever she was leaving in the morning or coming back in the evening.
Just as she turned to leave, she heard the sound of a bike.
"I bet that should be you, playboy!"
She hurried to the front door and there he was, pulling up on his dirt bike.
"I need a fuck'in explaination, douchebag!!" She marched towards him in anger. He was about to take off his helmet, but paused in mid air with his hand on his half off helmet.
"That's one way to welcome your new boyfriend. It's romantic!" Alex replied calmly as he finished taking off his helmet and placed it securely on his dirt bike.
"I'm not fuck'in in the mood right now, Alex!" She snapped. The deep frown on her face did not disappear either.
"Ok, calm down and talk to me. What did I do this time?" He asked, taking a step closer to her. He gently placed his palm on her jaw.
"DO NOT FUCK'IN TOUCH ME," She slapped his hand off her face as she glared at him in annoyance.
"Ok...ok… !!" He raised his hand in the air in surrender.
She hastily pulled out her phone, opened her gallery. Playing the video, she plastered the screen of her phone on his face. " You're still gonna act innocent, dude?"
He shifted his face behind and caught on the phone as it was sliding down. He held the phone a few inches from his face just so he could clearly see the screen. But before that, just from the sound alone, he knew exactly what the hell it was. The bright smile on his face immediately vanished.
"Hey, I'll fix this ok?" He said softly and seriously this time.
Truth be told, even Lara couldn't deny the fact that she'd never seen him look this serious in this couple of weeks.
"Oh! You would fix this, huh big boy…?" She dramatically responded as she took a couple of steps closer to him, almost completely closing up the gap between them. He was really tall. Way taller than she was, but she wasn't short either.
She could get the scent of his familiar perfume. Strange… just a couple of weeks with not too much of close contact, but she could perceive his scent.
"Yes, Lara. I had no idea you got it too." He explained.
"So… you bugged my house and now you have no idea I got the recording? So what… you wanted to… I mean, why in the name of Robinson would you even do that?? What the heck do you want from me? I ain't got shit interesting in my life right now, you feel me?" She chanted in one breath.
"Hey! I did not bug your house. I would never do that sweetheart." He wasn't smiling.
"You didn't??" She asked, being surprised as she raised her brows and dropped her tone, lowering the tune of her voice.
"Wait, why would you think I would film both of us making out, and allow my face to be seen too?" He still wore the serious look, but with a touch of mischief.
"Oh… you got a point. Don't blame me for running into conclusions, you're the only one who has come into my home in a while now."
"Where's your family?"
"Seriously Alex! Are you fuck'in serious right now?? We've got important shit here and you're asking about my family?" She exploded once more.
"Yes yes, relax. It's important too, right?" And here we go again with that smile. He stretched out his hand and cupped her cheeks, this time she did not protest. "Did they add anything to the video?" His face immediately went into serious mode again as he asked her.
"No…" she shook her head, she raised her eyes to meet his gaze. She couldn't take her focus off his magnetic blue eyes. That's probably what got her go all berserk for him the first day she starred in those eyes.
"Ok, I'll fix this ok? I don't want you to worry. Whoever is behind it, they'll get busted before they know it." He assured her.
She just nodded in acceptance. She was already hypnotized once more. She barely heard what he said anymore.
He leaned down and kissed her lips. As soon as his lips made contact with hers, she opened up her mouth, welcoming the warmness and softness from his. He sucked on her lips.
It was a brief kiss, but it was deep and so drowning for both of them.
"You wanna come in?" He asked as they broke off.
She looked at her house, then turned back to his, before nodding. "Sure." She answered with a smile.
He wrapped his arm around her waist as he pulled her closer to him. She leaned on his chest as they both strolled up to his door.
Across the street, three blocks away from them, stood a red Subaru. Seated inside were two men, one puffing on his cigar, while the one riding shotgun was busy clicking on his camera.
