“Shit, shit, shit” I hissed,
He ran to meet her in the kitchen
“hi babe, what brings you back so soon?” he laughed nervously
“Mwah!” their kiss echoed through the corridors
“I just came to fetch something” their voices inched closer threatening to find me pulsing up and down biting my lip nervously
“You see what happens when you go behind my back…do something, anything, you can’t let them find me like this” I glared through her nervous eyes and a door to the left caught my eye
“There, run…now!” I roared
She dashed, and softly closed the door behind us, my dishevelled hair reflected by the bathroom mirror
“Shit”
My hands ran franticly through my golden-brown sun kissed hair,
“It’s refusing to be tamed” she whined
“Try wetting your hands first and then patting it down”
She scooped up a handful of water and splashed it on my hair
“Too much, damn it” I hissed
“What the hell, don’t wolves hate water” she shrugged back at me
“Got it” her voice boomed right outside the door, I inched back
“I’ve been nauseous lately, just need to grab some pills and I’ll be on my way”
“Wait don’t go in there” the doorknob slowly turned the door opened slightly and stopped, my heart beating out of my chest, the ability to breath was now lost on me
“Why?” she asked back at him
“I was just in there, ‘phew’ need I remind you of last Christmas, let me get it for you”
“You’re right, you better get it”
My hand waved apprehensively at my mate as he stood at the door, his face filed with concern, he inched closer his hand raised opening the medicine cabinet behind me, my cheeks flushed his scent overtaking me, my face inches from his neck, I closed my eyes and breathed him in
“Did you find it?” she called from behind the door
“Yes!” he replied slowly stroking my cheek, sparks flew, my heart started beating faster
‘to hell with it’, I said to myself as I pulled his face to mine planting a passionate kiss on his lips, he moaned in my mouth and squeezed my ass
“What’s taking so long?”
He pulled away,
“I’ll be right out” he smiled at me, packed me on the lips smacking my ass at the same time, I growled at him as he walked out
“Are we really doing this?” my wolf asked enthusiastically staring back at me through the mirror, I nodded
“Why now?” my green eyes staring back at me
“Because I can’t take it anymore, I have no strength to resist him any longer”
“In that case”
“Why did you do that?” I asked staring at myself in the mirror
“Because he is your mate and when the time comes for me to be with my mate I know you won’t interfere” she smiled back at me, I loved having my body back, this is a fucked up situation but at least I’m in control now
The squeak of the door revealing my godlike mate, his rosy cheeks brightening his perfect porcelain skin his jet-black hair cascading over his face defining his caramel glazed eyes, his scent intoxicating, he stood at the door looking hot as hell in his t-shirt and jeans, I ran to him, his arms welcoming me, his soft kisses trailed on my face and my neck, each pack whispering lightly telling me that I’m home, I held him tight revelling in the sparks, letting his scent guide and consume me.
“I love this change in attitude” he lightly pecked my cheeks
“I let it go, I let go of it all, all the doubts, all the anger” I looked up into his sand kissed eyes “I am yours” in this moment I had clarity, “all I want is you, right here, right now at this moment all I need is you” I stared deep into his dark caramel coco-coloured eyes, on my tippy toes I kissed him
“Hi honey” we froze
“So, this is what that uneasy feeling I had was all about” he jumped escaping my grip, I turned to the smooth regal sounding voice
“You’ve been busy my love” she inched closer, her face unaffected, no emotion, nothing
I looked at my mate his face stern ready to fight
“Caroline” she offered me her hand, I looked at Kein, his body rigid and unmoving, his eyes dark and piercing
“Alicia” I took her hand apprehensively and offered her a small bow, her handshake was firm, she squeezed my hand hard displaying all her anger on it. I swallowed feeling the sweat in my pits, she seized me up and down, unaffected by the situation, in fact she seemed right at home in the chaos
“Enough, what do you want Caroline” she raised an eyebrow considering his question, she scoffed and moved to the couch and sat down crossing her legs her white pant suit uncreased, no indication that she just caught her husband in another woman’s embrace
‘What the hell, who the hell is she?’ I envied her poised demeaner, it was almost godlike, as though she could see the future and was comfortable in what she saw.
“You’re not seriously considering what I think you’re considering are you my love?” her velvet voice smooth and leathery, her demeaner radiating confidence as she played with her fingernails unaffected
“What game are you playing at?” he growled, his arm tight around my shoulder, the protectiveness making me nervous, why is he so afraid of her, does she have some kind of hold on him?
“You’re the one playing games here, my love, wouldn't you say?” she smirked
A small growl escaped his lips, his arm threatening to dislocate my arm from its socket
“Get on with it!” he roared, what the hell is going on, a minute ago they were all lovey-dovey, what is this tension I sense between them, their conversation is full of manipulation and from the looks of it she has the upper hand
“Hmm look at you, I didn’t know you were so romantic” she chuckled as she leaned back with her arms folded looking intently at us
My eyes moved back and forth from him to her, are they seriously using me in tug of war, making me the centre of their mind games? What the hell, it’s time for me to go, I can’t believe I got myself into this messed up situation, calm down Alicia, this has nothing to do with you, okay that’s not true, it has a lot to do with you, but their behaviour right now is certainly not normal, I sucked in a breath
“I think I should leave now” I said trying to wiggle myself out of his grip, but it only tightened sending a ping of pain down my spine, the redheaded goddess walked towards me, her strides reminding me of a catwalk,
“You can’t leave yet; we are only getting started” she brushed the back of her figure down my nose, making me feel inadequate next to her, she looked perfect while I on the other hand had wet hair
“Don’t touch her” he barked; his dark eyes darkened staring her down,
“Sorry, I was only teasing” she raised her hands in protest, her hands rested on her waist as she leaned in, her face inches from mine
“Enjoy it while you can sweetheart” her minty breath cool on my skin
“What do you mean?” I barked willing my voice to sound confident, but it quivered betraying me instead
She smirked, glaring at me
“I’m pregnant”
