I sneaked out of the auditorium, and went to the elevator “Ping” I pressed fifty and the doors closed, “Listen here, you are going to keep your cool, you will not let him manipulate you” I psyched myself up “Hahaha I would love to see you try” my wolf mocked “I can do this” I ignored her “I just have to follow these basic steps 1. Don’t look into his eyes, 2. Stay as far away from him as possible, 3. Last but not least do not and I repeat do not let him touch you” “Ja that seems easy enough” my wolf barked clearly betting against me “Pick a team…pick it now!” I growled at her “Simple, I pick his” she sneered, and I rolled my eyes at her My body pulsed up and down and I bit my lip the rapid climb of the numbers on the ELD screen making me anxious “Ping” the door opened, my eyes fell on the giant brown doors, I walked over to them, and they stared me down, towering over me “Are you gonna wait out there all day?” he boomed, the anger vibrating in his words, I took a deep breath and turned the handle “You summoned me” I glared at him, letting him know immediately that nothing weird was going to happen this time, alone or not I won’t let him in, I won’t succumb to his charms He wasn’t amused, his lips pressed in a line, his eyebrows furrowed, and his nostrils flared, he sat on his desk looking hotter than I remembered his legs crossed glaring at me no not this time Mr, I won’t let you in, I will not let you win “Is there something you need from me sir?” Yes keep things professional, don’t get personal, his face did not change “Sir?” I persisted, he still didn’t answer, but his face filled with rage, I can’t let you win, I won’t “Well, if there is nothing I’ll be leaving” I said giving him a low bow smiling to myself ‘victory at last’ I opened the door, his hand quick from behind slamming it shut, my eyes shot up at him, his angry gorgeous face looked back at me, his scent invading my nose, I bit my lip yearning for him When did he… how did he? I wracked my brain trying to make sense of it “What lengths will you go to in order to forget me...hu?!” he roared, I stepped back “What are you talking about?” “Will you let anyone touch you, just to forget about me?” I walked backwards taking big strides heading to the middle of the room, the heat radiating from his body threatening that he might turn at any moment “I don’t know what you’re talking about, but please listen no one touched me” I said with my palms stretched out, urging him to calm down “You must have felt guilty last night right... didn't you?” his voice trembled with rage; his hands balled up in fists hanging on the sides of his body “Last night…wha..” “So, what did you do to get rid of that guilt, hu?” he interrupted “Pre…I mean Kein, please…I don’t kn..” “What did you do, hu? You allowed him to touch you didn’t you?” “Who…what are you…?” “No! where did he touch you, where?!” he walked closer, and I inched back my retreat finally blocked by his huge mahogany desk, he stopped, his face inches from mine “Did he touch you here?!” he gripped my shoulders “Here?!” he grabbed my chin “Here?” he brushed my lips, I looked away tears welling up in my eyes “Where did he touch you? Tell me” he grabbed my face turning me back making me face him “Stop it Kein! Just stop it! How do you think I feel, hu, don’t you think it kills me knowing that my mate spends his nights in someone else’s arms?” I looked up at him and his lips pressed in a line and his teeth clenched “But I bear it, last night I had to watch you drive away and go to her… how do you think that makes me feel? Even so I will myself to bear it” my voice low and cracking He held my face in his hands shaking me furiously “I can’t bear it! I can’t…I will never bear it, you hear me?” he said looking deep into my eyes I sobbed, his words arousing in me a feeling I had no right to feel, hope. “You must” I shoved his hands away “because our relationship is a dream that shatters every time we are not together, so please...” my body shaking and my breath catching in my throat as I prepared myself for what I have to say “Stop giving me hope, it’s tearing me apart” “No” he shook his head anxiously; I saw the tears in his eyes, and he laid his forehead on mine “I can’t accept this truth, I can’t, I can’t bear to see you with anyone else” he cupped my face planting a soft kiss on my lips, then my cheek, then my nose “You are mine, just mine” his hands wrapped tight around my neck sending electricity down to my centre, he brushed my cheek with his nose, his lips brushed mine, and my body trembled. “Yes, finally” my wolf barked, and I pushed him away “Then why does she have a greater right to you?” I said pushing past him heading towards the door, I turned and faced him, tears streaming down my face “Your heart is mine, but she has your name, I can take a lot of things Mr Keng but that…that I can’t bear” I opened the door, I turned and gave him one last look, he was standing in the middle of the room with his hands in his pockets, the door closed, and I let the tears fall freely. *** “So much for keeping my cool” I said to myself as I walked to my shared office, I walked in and the ladies welcomed me, Dave scoffed at me, and I realised that he was probably making a pass at me at the auditorium. “Is that what he was talking about?” “Who was talking about what?” Tina leaned in trying to get the inside scoop her blond hair covering my keyboard “Hu, no one, I was just thinking out loud” I said with an awkward lough “You said he, do you have a guy already” Dave stood up at Tina’s words and walked out Poor thing, he has no idea how close he came to meeting his maker, he can be mad at me if he wants to, I’ll give him a couple of days to get over it. “I’m afraid that factory is closed” I sighed flopping myself over my desk “No way, at twenty-three the factory is just getting started” Louren said dancing in her chair with her hands up in the air wiping her brunet hair around, Tina and I looked at her and burst out in laughter “I’m serious” she stopped dancing, and leaned over to my desk “want me to set you up with someone?” she winked at me “Not now, I’m too much of an emotional wreck to be dating anyone, I just need to get away, I wish I had leave days” I said burying my head in my folded arms on the desk “Well, we have a company retreat this weekend” Tina’s voice full of cheer “A what” I raised my head “Oh yeah you don’t know about that, that will be perfect, there will be some team building of course but after that…we party” she started dancing again, this time we didn’t just look, we joined in dancing in our chairs, laughing at the top of our lungs “Maybe I’ll bring Timothy along” Louren smirked looking directly at me “Whose Timothy” I asked taking the bait “Your date” “What?” the shock clear on my face and in my voice “He is perfect for you…trust me” Kein will freak out, I don’t want a murder on my conscience, but of course I can’t tell them that “Please believe me when I say it’s not a good idea” I protested as hard as I could “I’m not taking no for an answer and wait until you see him, I mean talk about gorgeous” Louren continued ignoring me completely “There is no wining with her” Tina added I looked at both of them casually going back to their work ignoring my wishes completely “No…Louren please don’t” she didn’t respond or even glance at my direction, how can I explain to them that this is bigger than just me dismissing their offer…how can I tell them that Kein will literally kill anyone who comes near me “Listen...Louren.... please don’t” still no answer “No…please!”
