“What?” I heard Vincent on the phone.
I went towards him. “Oh… okay. I will be there soon”
The call ended and she sighed.
“What’s wrong?” I asked him.
“Nothing…”
“Tell me”
“Uh, they are calling me for investigation”
“What? Why?”
“Well… I was the only person in the room, so I already thought about how they let me go so easily anyway”
“But Vincent, I am scared for you!”
“It is okay”
“Uh… be careful”
“Yeah. Don’t worry, you know me. I have dodged suspicions thousand times”
“Yeah…” I smiled. “Good luck”
He nodded and then went out.

Vincent
I went out and to the Police station. To be honest, I was a little worried. I knew this time, it was like… every time, I didn’t fear the Police. Because I knew that even if I get caught, I will be out and live my life again. But now? I know that if I get caught, my wife would be so sad. I have to do this now, for her. I have to be well.
I went inside.
“Vincent Smith?”
“yes”
“Please come inside the investigation room” I nodded and went inside. I know that this is just a small-scale investigation and it is gonna be a big one soon. Maybe the state level will reach a national level because it was the shooting of the CEO of one of the most profound businesses.
I saw Heather there. She was crying badly and looking at me with an angry expression. Oh, she is such a fake. She doesn’t even love him!
They started asking me questions and I tried my best to dodge the questions that would cloud the suspicion over me.
They let me go, and told me that they will call me more, but not as a suspect, but as a witness. Also, even if I will be, then I will be a potential suspect.
So, I went back to the hotel. I was so happy because I didn’t let Ashley down. She must be so happy for me. I didn’t know that someone’s happiness could mean so much to me. This is a great feeling which I literally never had before.
I rang the doorbell of my room and she opened the door. She looked at me and then took a deep breath. I looked at her suspiciously.
“Oh Vincent!” she suddenly yelled and hugged me. This was the first time that my breath hitched up. This was the best feeling. She was so happy! For me! I was the reason.
“I am fine, Ashy” I whispered to her.
“But you scared me” she got away and pouted.
“You are already so cute, don’t be cuter”
“Ah well!” she blushed. “What can I say to that”
“I love you”
“I love you too”
“You are so cute!”
“You are cute too”
“Now let me in,” I laughed.
“Let me in too”
“Oh, my innocent girl, what do you mean?”
she blushed and got aside. “Go Inside the room!”
I laughed hard and went inside. She is so shy and so cute. I love her in every way possible.
I saw that the room was arranged more beautifully. “So my wife has done something here, huh?”
“I was getting bored so arranged the things in a better way”
“Oh that is sweet, my Ashy”
She blushed a little and smiled. “Ah-h thanks”
“No thanks to your husband” I went close to her and she looked into my eyes. I went closer and kept my hand on her neck and she kept her hand on my shoulder.
“My wife” I looked into her eyes. “I wanna confess something”
“Y-yes—”
“Don’t stutter, you can speak freely near me”
She nodded. She took a deep breath. “Yeah?”
“I am lucky to have you, Ashy. Thanks for being in my life”
She smiled. “Oh well, I didn’t have a choice but—”
“What do you mean?” I went away from her.
“Oh, I don’t mean--”
“I didn’t force you to care about me! I didn’t force you to ‘love’ me!” I yelled and she flinched.
“Y-you have got it all wrong, I don’t mean--”
“I know what you fucking mean, Ashley!”
“Please calm down Vincent--”
“No! I will not calm down! So if it was all forced, then why the hell were you acting as if everything was completely normal and fine--”
“Vincent really, just listen--”
“You know what? I don’t wanna force you! You can leave if you want to! Any fucking time!”
She came towards me and looked into my eyes. “Tell me, do my eyes tell you that I think like this”
“You know what? I am done being lied to by your eyes! I am done!”
“Vincent at least… listen to me…”
“Speak” I scoffed.
“I didn’t mean that… I was about to say that I am happy that you didn’t give me a choice at the start…”

“But you do think that I forced you!”
“No, no one can force someone to love--”
“I will talk to you later!” He went out of the room. I followed him but he looked at me with a death look and I nodded hesitantly and went back to the room. I don’t know what he is gonna do. Is he gonna book a different room or something?
I closed the door and sadly sat down on the bed. Just one sentence and everything ruined. He never understands once he misunderstands. I never wanted him to think like that… I just meant that even if it was bad at the start, I really love it all now. But I am stupid.
I received a call.
“Pack everything, we will leave in an hour”
