Justine Meyers went back to her work Monday morning. She was early and she had a lot of time to prepare for her proposal for her next project.” The business bizarre”. What is the business bizarre? She ask in her proposal. Every business wants to compete but some are just wants to be involved. In business bizarre every business connects with each other. Each business has the same preposition “ business” . It’s allow other business to connect with other business to enhance their business. It was like a free deal.
“ good job, Ms. Meyers. You are great”. My boss congratulating me
“ what did you do”? Melissa ask.
“ I just think and I apply it”. I said excitedly
“ did you see the two demons”? She ask. She was pointing to Martin and Lucy.
“ yeah”. I said
“Are you okay”?
“better than I ever was”. I said confidently
“ That’s my girl”. She said
“ by the way Lis, I told my parents about it and they were really sad. They want me to resign and find another job.” I confess
“what’s your plan? Do you want to do it”? She ask continuously
“ I don’t know. I love this job and I love this company. I’ve been here for a long time”. I said sadly
“ but can you deal with Martin and Lucy. You will see them every single day”.
“ I know but I need time to think.”
“ what if, after this business bizarre project. Let yourself have time alone. Like go somewhere you want to go to think more about yourself and your future”. She suggest
“I don’t know, is that necessary”? I ask
“ yes of course. It will give you time to unwind, to think about yourself. You’re not getting old, you should plan your future”. She continue
“ I just planned it but it was ruined”. I reply
“ Well maybe you should plan it more seriously”. She said with a smile.
Melissa was a very nice friend. She’s three years older than me and I treat her as my older sister. We like to talk of things that never really matter mostly but we did because we want to chat with each other. Sometimes I spend the night at her place before she got married. Some things changed when she got married but some things are still the same and we continuously best of friends. She was part of my long journey in my company. About the thing she said earlier if I can deal with Martin and Lucy seeing every day. Honestly I hate to see them together just like this morning. I guess I haven’t moving on yet. But if I resign and find a new job, I don’t know if I can find a company like this. I’m not really sure about it. I guess, Melissa was right, maybe I need time alone to think about. Maybe I need a vacation.
After my successful “ The Project Bizarre” my boss congratulate me for my job well done.
“So Justine, congratulations to your successful project bizarre”.
“ Thank you sir”.
My boss announce to my fellow co-workers about my successful bizarre including Martin and Lucy.
“ So, do you want some dinner tonight”? My boss ask me
“ no Sir, I can’t”. I reject
“ Well, okay. If that what you want”.
“ but can I talk to you sir in private”? I ask politely
“ of course, you can”. He said while we walk straight to his room. “ what is it”?
“ after this very tiring project that I made, I was thinking if I can have a vacation sir”? I ask politely again
“ vacation? What vacation”?
“ summer vacation I guess”.
“ Where and how long”? He ask
“ I still don’t know where to go but I think about a week”. I reply
“ Hmmmm. Okay I think you can, since you made a very wonderful project. I think you deserve a vacation”.
“ Thank you sir so much”. I reply instantly
“ If you decided where to go, meet the HR okay and tell them your vacation plan”. He said seriously
“ Okay, Thank you sir again.”
I go down to meet Melissa and tell her I am approved but as I get down I see Martin and Lucy and they go by to congratulate me.
“ congratulations Justine, you’ve done great”. Lucy said
“ Thank you.” I said shortly
Martin is about to say something when my phone ring and I see Melissa’s name so I answer it after I excuse myself to both of them. I am so excited to tell to Melissa about my vacation approval.
“ Hey, where are you”? I ask her immediately
“ I was in cafeteria. Why? What’s going on you girl”? She ask continuously
“ I will tell you when I see you, okay. I’ll see you there.”
I was about to drop my phone when someone hold my arms so tight. And I see Martin.
“ Martin, what are you doing”? I ask him immediately
“ I was so sorry Just, I didn’t tell you about Lucy.” He said. “ I…. Lucy and I, have been dating for a year now”. He continue. I met her at the exclusive party after we finish the Grand Chamber of Businesses. The president invited me and introduced me to Lucy. “
“ why are you telling me this”? I said with a tears in my eyes.
“ because I think you need to know. I’m sorry. I’m really sorry”. He said
“ So you’re been hurting me for more than a year now”? How could you do this to me”? I ask.
My tears almost to drop but Lucy came and this time I keep my tears fall And walk away. I spend the night alone, I text Melissa and say that I was really tired and I need to sleep. She replied me this “ go girl, just let it cry. I will always be here for you”. And I lay down on my bed again and I let my tears falling and then I fall sleep.
When I was a kid, I was so eager to grow old because I thought life is easy when you’re old. I never thought that being old is very depressing time in your life. Finding what you want and make it a living is not that easy. Sometimes you mistakenly discover that what you want is not what you need and your late to realize it. Why life is very complicated? Why it’s unpredictable? What life I want is not what I am living.
Next morning, I saw Melissa early in the office and she give a look that I knew what she meant.
“ Martin talk to me last day and he told me that they were dating for a year now”. I said right away
“ Stupid man. Why he didn’t tell you before”? She ask
“ I don’t know. Lucy came and I walk away”. I said
“ you okay”? What’s your plan”?
“ Oh, I talk to Mr. Branson yesterday and guess what I was approved for my vacation”. I said excitedly
“ oh! Really. That’s is perfect”. She said “where do you want to go”?
“ I still don’t know. I want to go somewhere where I can relax my brain and my soul”. I reply
“ I think you need to go to abroad”. She suggest. “ which country”? “ Paris”?
“ Paris? Are you crazy? I’m broken and you want me to go to Paris”?
“ I just thought maybe you want to go to Paris.” She said
“ do you want me to go crazy”? I want to go somewhere I can relax and forget everything”. I said
“ so, which country”? She ask again
“ I still don’t know. I will think about it later”. By the way. “ why are you early today”? Is there something important for today”? I ask her with a smile
“ it’s our anniversary. She reply. Will and I, are planning to go to New York tonight “.
“ Wow! New York? That was so cool”. I said with surprised
“ Yeah, and I was so excited about it”. She said with giggles
Sometimes I wonder why some people are so blessed to find what they want just like my best friend Melissa and some people are so damn unlucky to find it just like me. Since junior high, I knew it that I was in hard time finding someone. I’m not so easily getting attached to someone. It takes time for me to trust someone. I dated some boys before but it never happen again. When I met Martin I never knew he will gonna be my boyfriend. I thought were just be friends but it changed when he confess to me two days after the valentine’s day. He invited me for a dinner with some of our co-workers and after the dinner he walked with me and confess his feelings. I lost a word when he admitted and it took me a week to said yes when he asked me for a date. And it took me a months to say yes to be my boyfriend.
The next morning, I keep on searching some places to visit, since June is summer time I start searching for beach places. I saw beautiful beaches and I couldn’t decide where to go. I started to feel my brain to explode when my best friend Melissa came.
“ What are you doing”? She ask right away. “ you look so tired. It’s early in the morning”?
“ I don’t know where to go”. I said and she hug me like the way she did when I was broken
She look on my computer and see some picture of beaches. And she ask
“ do you want to go to beach”? And she laughed
“ yeah, but I don’t know where to go”?
And she starts typing on my monitor.
“ P-h-i-l-i-p-p-i-n-e-s”.
“ what are doing”? “ Philippines? That’s too far.” I complain
“ Philippines have the best beaches in the world”. She said. “ don’t you know”?
“ I Know but I…..” and she interrupt me.
“ If you want to forget go faraway”. She said seriously. And I nodded to her
“thank you for always with me and staying with me like this” I said and she smile at me.
The next best feeling in the world is having a true friend who always there to help you when you needed them the most. I feel it when Melissa was with me I felt like I was better. I guess that’s how friendship do.
I talk to HR in our company as what Mr. Branson told me and I told them about my vacation plan. I will fly to the Philippines this coming Friday and after a week I’ll be back here. And they approved. I have two days to prepare for my travel. I take my lunch at the cafeteria of the company and I call my parents about my vacation plan and to tell them that tomorrow I’ll be coming home to say goodbye to them. After the call I see Martin walking around and he see me too but I turn my eyes on my food. He sit beside me and he was about to say something but my phone ring and I answer it without hesitation.
“ yes, hello”. I ask
“ hi Justine, it’s me Melissa. I just wanna know about your vacation plan”? She ask
“ yeah, they did”. I said. “ where are you? I want to talk to you”?
“ I was in my office”. She reply
“ okay, I’ll meet you there”. I said. And I say goodbye to Martin right away but Martin refuse to.
“ Hey, can we talk”? He ask in a silent voice
“ For what”. I said with anger. “ were done, okay. Do what you want to do”. And I walk fast away from him.
But he still manage to stop me. “ Justine, I just want to explain. Give me time”. He beg
I let him talk. I let him say everything.
“ I know I hurt you so bad but I didn’t know how to say it to you, I don’t want to hurt you but I just don’t have a choice. I know you can’t forgive me and I am not hoping but I want you to be happy. I want you to continue your life even without me.” And I was starting to cry again but I refuse to, I bite my tongue to ignore the pain on my heart and I never make an eye contact to him because I don’t want to hurt again. And he never said any words again so I turn around and walk away again and I went to Melissa.
Do you ever believe in saying “ everything happen for a reason”. I believe in that saying, for me to make a stand up you have to stumble first. To make a food you have to plant first. To have a money you have to work first. Before you win you have to lose first. To become stronger you have to become weak first. I cried now so I can smile later. I have to stumble today so I can stand up stronger tomorrow. So , I think the reason why Martin left me is because someone is out there waiting for me.
