Mecha Devourer System Chapter 42

Ever since he had been ten, Everlearn’s interests had changed. From being a Corer to being a Mech Designer due to his poor potential. The way he had always seen it was that if he knew enough about Mech Modules, he could never be beaten by them. And that had made him spend all his childhood doing nothing but learning about Mech Modules. When he had gotten into higher education, he had specifically gone into where Mech Modules are created and all of the creation down to the last process. That was why at seventeen, he held the full knowledge to create an Anomalous Mecha X core. Inefficiencies and errors in Mech Modules were a topic he had studied for years, having seen up to a thousand Mech Module samples, and that made him understand how dangerous imperfections in Mech Modules are. Once an imperfection is there, it only needs to be tapped lightly to knock out a Corer, and sometimes there were cases where Corers blew up with a bang and exploded due to imperfections. He could see Crimson’s imperfection as he observed the fight and immediately noticed his neck wasn’t right. The guy’s Mech Module is like a torso model, where some parts of his bones are covered in iron. Attacks to them are usually useless, and Crimson takes advantage of it by being able to ignore attacks since they couldn’t get through his steel bones. But the neck area wasn’t properly plated, and that was his weakness. He didn’t even need to use much force, just tap onto that imperfection, and that knocked him out. Still, this was something only known to Everlearn. All the rest of the students saw was a human knocking out a second year, and full silence crawled through the glass. Five second years had fought with about twenty newcomers, yet none of them were knocked out. That was already shocking on its own, yet one of them had been knocked out epically by the poor human who they knew would be given a good beating soon. The other four second years turned to look at Everlearn in shock. Crimson was the strongest among them when it came to pure defense, yet he had been struck down with a simple attack to his neck? When they turned their eyes to Everlearn, they noticed him stepping forward unperturbed, his face filled with absolute, almost disdaining confidence. It made them pause a bit and genuinely wonder. Was the boy really just a human? Or had he fused with a model so powerful that it could even disguise itself? "Don’t worry, he’s not dead... yet," Everlearn said as he arrived before the exit where one of them stood. Everlearn didn’t immediately rush out; instead, he paused, turning to Crimson before pointing at him. "Take him to a healing pod in the next two hours or he might just lose his breath. Don’t make me kill someone on my first day on the job," he said, before he calmly stepped out of the building. "Wait, job? Did he just say this was a job?" "Is he disguising as a student?" The murmurs filled the air, but they achieved what Everlearn wanted. Even as he fully stepped out of the gate to the cafeteria, the second years didn’t immediately chase after him, their brows creased in suspicion. The boy was abnormal, and now there was a possibility he was more than just a newcomer. Not even certain if they could beat him or not, since he had knocked out the guy with the best defense with just a strike. If they touched him and he was only a student in disguise, then they might be getting into bigger trouble. Due to that, they turned away, picked up Crimson, and rushed him out of the cafeteria. Unknown to them all, Everlearn was already running away like a thief the second he got out of the cafeteria, speeding through alleys way after alleyways while occasionally turning his back to see if they were chasing him. His breath came out ragged and heavy as he crouched to himself, exhaling in exhaustion. In the next moment, he burst into loud laughter. "Idiots," Everlearn mocked with a grin. If he had tried fighting those four, the result was that he would have 100% gotten knocked out by them. Crimson had imperfections, but he couldn’t see any from the four, and even though they were exhausted, they still held the upper advantages. That was why he had made use of their confusion, displaying a fake confidence that actually worked. It was one of the things that they were taught to do as a Mech Designer when before the Corers — to display a quiet confidence that could make even a Corer wary of messing with them and earn their respect instead, which was kind of the base goal for a Mech Designer. The sound of beeping rang out, and Everlearn turned to his device, and there he could see the countdown. There were five minutes more before he would be late for class. He turned to the map and was surprised to find the building was now just three minutes away. He exhaled lightly, then he continued forward, soon finding a building that was shaped in a surprisingly ancient shape. He murmured to himself, and that was when a question popped into his mind. "Wait, what is the topic of this class even supposed to be?" He looked on the device, and a line of course titles crossed his eyes as he turned back to the dojo, whispering, "Well, it ain’t combat class at least. How bad could it be?" He muttered, radiating confidence, and he stepped in through the glass door. The class was quite unlike anything he had ever seen or expected. There were no chairs or tables or any of those things. There were just two things — a wooden floor, but not really wood. It was like an impenetrable gem floor, and upon it were mats instead of seats, and a wide open space at the center of the room. What took his breath away were the walls. It was lined with... them.
