Kayden's POV
I slowly opened my eyes, as the whole place lit up. Everywhere was so bright and I could see very clearly.
Apart from my sight, I could also perceive her scent. I scanned around to check if I would see her but she wasn't there. Was I just imagining and hearing things again?.
No, it can't be, it just can't be. I walked aimlessly around the dungeon in search of her. Until I stumbled upon something soft. I looked down to check what it was, because it really felt weird.
"Heaven!!!" I screamed and looked at her, before carefully scooping her into my arms like a sleeping child. She looked so horrible.
She looked like a walking corpse. I tried to call out to her but she wouldn't answer, was she dead?.
No!! She can't die, and leave me here all alone in this world again.
She has to live, if not for anything but for me. I couldn't hear her heartbeat, nor could I feel air coming out from her nose.
How was I going to leave this place with her, especially in this condition?.
She isn't awake, she can't even move, let alone going to be able to walk or climb out of here.
"Kayden'' I heard Emma's father call out to me, as he threw down a ladder for me to climb out, but the ladder fell on the floor.
The place was too deep and the ladder was too short, there was no way out of this place. I looked at Heaven who lay lifeless in my arms. What was I going to do with her now?.
"That's awesome. Can you make more staircases for mummy?" I heard my mum's voice in my head.
I recalled how I would enjoy making a staircase outside the castle with sand.
I don't know how, but it was very possible. I just had to move my hands in a certain way, while the sand on the floor moved the way I moved my hands, and I could make it in any shape I chose.
"Don't tell anyone you can do this okay baby?" My mum patted my hair and with innocent eyes, I looked at her as if she had said something impossible.
"But why?" I vividly remembered asking her.
"Because you are special, and special people should know how to keep their secret powers to themselves, my baby has powers.
And nobody should know, okay?" She nodded her head vertically slowly.
I didn't understand why she was telling me that, but I agreed with her anyway. It was not like I had much of a choice, she was my mum, and also telling people that I can shape sand into any form sounded ridiculous.
I looked around and I couldn't find any sand, we were f*cking underground?. Why wasn't there any sand? The whole place was well-cemented.
I looked at the trap door and back at a lifeless Heaven. I needed to get out of this place as soon as possible.
My arms were getting tired and my legs were also weak from standing while holding her at the same time.
I sat on the floor, at least I thought I sat on the floor.
But I accidentally sat on the ladder, still holding Heaven in my arms.
I took a deep breath, and just wished I had wings to fly out of the dungeon. So , I could go k*ll whoever was responsible for putting her in such a horrible state.
The ladder began to vibrate beneath us, I was shocked so I stood up almost immediately.
I observed it for a while and would have slapped my forehead with my palm, if heaven wasn't in my arms. I was responsible for the ladder moving.
I have little or no control over my powers sometimes, especially when I am tense.
The ladder was floating and it was my fault. My ability to levitate objects was one of my amazing features, if only I could make myself float out of this horrible place.
Maybe I can't, but I could sit on the ladder while I make it float to the trap door, and jump out at the right time. It is risky, but at least it is worth a try and better than staying here and doing nothing.
I inhaled as much oxygen as I could gather and let it all out at once. So I could be calm. I needed my mind to be focused and it worked.
The ladder was back on the floor again and I sat on it, carefully holding Heaven in my hands, I couldn't afford to drop her, not even by mistake.
I wouldn't want her to bump her head somewhere. It took a lot more concentration than I thought but I finally did it.
I made the ladder float to the trap door but the issue was jumping out. I couldn't let anyone see a floating ladder with me on it, nor could I have good timing to jump out.
As a result of me diverting my mind away from the ladder, and getting worried, the ladder crashed to the ground.
But, I wasn't going to give up, especially when I saw how pale heaven had become. This place barely had oxygen to keep anyone alive for 24 hours, and she had already spent three good days here.
I looked at the trap door and back at her, in fact at that point I didn't care if anyone would see the floating ladder. All I needed was for her to stay alive and well for me.
I needed her more than I could ever imagine.
I tried again, putting all my concentration and thoughts on the ladder, this time when it was about to get to the top with me and Heaven on it.
I targeted the trapdoor and jumped out just in time before the ladder crashed to the ground again.
I wasn't too surprised when I came out and saw nobody in the room, I wasn't expecting anyone. Especially not Emma's father or even Emma herself.
Both father and daughter had a lot of explaining to do on how my wife, my princess, ended up in their dungeon ,because I knew I didn't put her there. But first, I had to rush her to the hospital.
