Brody's POV
"I can't do this." I murmured and pushed her away. She smiled and kissed me on the cheeks.
"You're really in love with her." She concluded sharply.
I shrugged and laid on the bed. "Yeah, I guess so and maybe I'm a little but angry with you pushing her into the pool at the party."
"It was a little mistake."
"Mistake?" I asked rhetorically. "Are you crazy? Lol What if she had died? Karen can't swim."
"How was I supposed to know that she couldn't swim?" She asked me back.
"Alright fine, I've forgiven you already. You should move on with your life."
"It's hard, seeing you with Karen makes me angry."
I frowned wondering how I could tell her that I was no longer in love with her. She didn't seem to understand anything. "Karen's now my priority and you're not. You should stay away from me." I told her.
She stood up and looked at herself in the mirror. "I'm beautiful, I don't need you."
With that, she walked out of my room angrily slamming the door after her. I heaved a sigh of relief wondering how I was able to resist the temptation.
I was really excited that Karen didn't kiss Joe even though she chose him. At least, she didn't try to breach the contract or break my heart. My mom walked in with a smile. "Guess who's back."
"Karen?" I asked in a low tone.
She giggled excitedly. "Of course, I'm really proud of you and the decision you've made. Karen is not just a beautiful lady but she is also a wonderful lady."
I smiled, wondering what changed her mind suddenly about Karen. "That's nice, I'm happy you've finally learnt the truth."
Karen was nothing but crazy! How could I tell her this?
"Yeah, I'm no longer interested in the fact that she's poor and believe me, I'll also defend your relationship." She said.
"What changed your mind?" I asked her, still surprised.
She chuckled and sat on the bed. "A lot of things, I've actually spoken to her dad and he has agreed."
I blinked in confusion. "Agreed on what?"
"It's a surprise, I'm sure you'll be excited when you get to know of what I'm planning for you."
I chuckled and looked at her with a smile. "You're the best mom in the world but huh, what about Aunt Patricia?" I inquired, concerned.
"Her opinion does not matter." She replied and Karen walked in. I was really happy that she was back in the house. "Hey, how are you doing?" I asked.
She blushed and smiled, I didn't even know if she faked a smile. "I'm fine and I've missed you."
I hugged her and my mom smiled at us. She turned to look at Karen with a smile on her face. Her facial expression was totally great and I knew she was extremely and genuinely happy for me.
"I'm sorry for not believing you," she began with tears in her eyes. "But I've grown to find out you're a loving and caring woman." She said and pulled her in for a hug.
I smiled as I looked at the two women. Walking out of the room, I climbed the stairs and met a man in a driver's uniform.
The audacity that he had to sit on the sofa comfortably baffled me. "What are you doing here?" I asked, angrily.
He quickly jumped up and looked at me. "I'm sorry sir."
"It's fine, why are you here and huh, who are you?"
"I'm here because of my daughter." He answered.
Daughter? "I have a lot of maids, can you tell me her name so I can help you."
He stammered. "She's not a maid, her name is Karen Miller. She's Brody's girlfriend."
It came as a shock to me, I didn't expect him to come. "That's great and I'm Brody." I told him.
He smiled at me and modded. "That's great. I'm sure you'll eventually fall in love with Karen."
My heart skipped a beat. Did he mean something? I just hoped Karen didn't tell him that it was a contract. "I'm sorry but what do you mean by that?" I asked.
He shrugged. "My daughter told me about the contract and I'm really happy that you chose her to be your fake girlfriend."
I was very angry but I managed to control myself. It was very foolish and abnormal for her to tell her dad about the contract.
Why would she behave like a child who can't think or decide for herself?
"Yeah, my mom doesn't know about the contract so don't talk about it in front of my family members."
He nodded. "They won't know and I'm also sorry for saying it." He apologized to me gently.
I nodded and climbed up the stairs. Opening the door, I walked in with a frown on my face. My mother was no longer in the room so it was easy to talk. "Why is your father around?" I asked, annoyed.
"Why shouldn't he be in this house?" She answered rudely.
"You seem to forget the fact that this is my house and not your house."
"Brody," she called out softly as she dropped her makeup kit in her bag. "After signing the contract, your properties should also be mine for two weeks."
I chuckled, "That was not in the contract, was it?" I ventured, cautiously.
"Was I expecting to see your family when I signed the contract? I signed the contract to be with you for two weeks and not with your family." She reminded me.
I was starting to get angry because she was making things worse. She was supposed to apologise for her actions but she didn't. "This is your fault and not mine. You didn't tell me that he was coming."
"I wasn't informed that your family would be coming before I signed the contract, how does it feel? A couple of more days and this stupid contract will end. I can't wait for it to end."
Frowning, I sat down on the bed as she walked out of the room to meet her father. Why couldn't she apologise for her actions? Was it difficult to apologise? It was a very simple thing to do. My phone rang and I quickly picked it up. "Alex, aren't you supposed to be at work?"
He chuckled over the phone and I almost got angry. "I'm at work, had a free period and decided to call you. Doesn't look like a crime, does it?"
I cleared my throat and shrugged. "Of course, it's not a crime to call me. How's the soap production?"
He sighed dejectedly. "Yeah, I also called to tell you about that. There's a new company that's overtaken us in the production level and they invited you to their party."
"What party?" I asked, confused.
"I think it's an opening party and surprisingly, their party is on the date of our new soap opening party so there's a possibility that guests might decide to go to their party instead of us."
Why would they do such a thing? It was not right. "What should we do now?" I asked him.
"I don't know," he quickly replied. "They only sent an invitation letter to us."
"We should accept their invitation and cancel our party." I told him. It was the only idea that could help us.
He coughed and disagreed. "Brody, that's their plan, we shouldn't fall for their plans."
"No one said we're falling for their plans. While we're at the party, we'll secretly launch ours and make sure it's posted on every blog, magazine and social media." I replied with a smirk on my face.
