Aleta's words rang in Renata's head. Making the woman harbor resentment. She didn't accept Aleta's words.
Renata had to give in to Danas? That was one of the most impossible things for Renata.
There was no stopping dictionary when Renata had started something. Renata forced a smile when Aleta showed her one of the latest bags from a well-known brand.
Although Renata did not get the expected answer from Aleta, she still tried to be polite and kind to the woman who gave birth to her lover.
Renata pointed to a bag with a different color than the one taken by Aleta. "This is it, Auntie. The color looks more elegant. It suits Auntie, looks beautiful and graceful," Renata praised.
The woman is indeed a master at finding face. She could even mask her irritation with a mask of friendliness. Renata then saw something else in the shop. Then her eyes were drawn to a wallet model displayed in the window.
"This long wallet also looks good, Auntie," Renata exclaimed.
This distracted Aleta, who was holding a bag. The middle-aged woman walked over to her son's girlfriend. Assessing the items chosen by Renata.
"Good, gorgeous, you're very good at choosing things, darling," Aleta said to Renata.
Renata's smile grew. The compliment from Melvin's mother was able to make her happy in hearing it. Renata felt as if she had gained trust again. At that moment, she thought about what she should do or say to make Aleta hate Danas even more.
Renata knew that Aleta basically did not like Danas. Given that for Aleta, Danas is the killer of her daughter. However, seeing Aleta who still has a level of tolerance because of Danas' pregnant condition makes Renata want to hate it.
The woman felt this was unfair. Danas could live comfortably when Renata felt that it was all hers. Renata wanted Danas to really feel miserable because he had taken her position. One way was to make Aleta hate Danas without any sense of pity or other reasons that reduced the hatred.
"I want the bag that was chosen earlier and this wallet, yes," Aleta said to the shop assistant.
"Yes, ma'am. You can pay at the cashier," said the shop assistant as she directed Aleta to the cashier.
"Let me pay for it, Auntie," Renata interjected as Aleta was about to answer the waitress.
Aleta turned to the young woman beside her with an incredulous look. "That's not necessary, Renata. I like your bag and purse, so I'll pay for it," Aleta refused.
However, Renata insisted that she would pay for it herself. She shook her head. "No, Auntie, let Renata do it," Renata said.
This was one of her attempts to steal Aleta's heart again. Renata followed the shop assistant and forced Aleta not to refuse her gift.
"Auntie, just stay here, I don't wanna hear a word of rejection from you today."
Aleta eventually gave in. She felt happy and touched by Renata's treatment. According to her, Renata was the most loyal and right woman for her son. How could she not, Renata remained beside her son and supported her son when Melvin himself had married someone else. Aleta was happy to know that Melvin hadn't chosen the wrong lover. Although on the other hand she still doesn't accept Melvin's decision to marry Danas.
Not long after, Renata arrived with two paperbags containing wallets and bags. The woman smiled broadly at Aleta. She handed her the two paper bags.
"This is for Auntie," Renata said as she took one of Aleta's hands. "I don't accept rejection."
Aleta stared in awe at Renata. "Now you won't wonder why Melvin loves you so much," Aleta replied proudly.
The middle-aged lung woman rubbed Renata's shoulder with both corners of her lips pulled up.
"But Melvin seems to have lost his love for me, Auntie," Renata said, continuing her drama. "I even thought that maybe Melvin had completely forgotten about me. Maybe Melvin has forgotten his love for me because of Danas."
Aleta shook her head quickly. Her face turned a little hard. "That can't be the case," Aleta said firmly. Aleta thought it would be absurd for Melvin to love the person who had killed his brother.
"Auntie knows that Melvin really hates Danas. So, how could you be replaced by Danas," Aleta said. Then she brought her hand to stroke Renata's head.
"Trust Auntie," Aleta said. "Besides, Auntie will always be on your side."
Hearing that, Renata felt that her plan had succeeded. She took Aleta's hand and held it.
"Thank you, Auntie," Renata said.
Then they left the store and went back to shopping. The two of them seemed to be tirelessly walking around the shopping center. While walking around, Renata did not forget to insert false stories aimed at bringing Danas down.
As she expected, Aleta would respond with annoyance.
"Why didn't you ever tell Melvin about that?" Aleta asked.
Renata bowed her head. Acting as if she was helpless. "I was afraid to tell Melvin. Danas seemed so kind and gentle in front of Melvin. Renata was afraid that Melvin wouldn't believe all of Renata's stories," she lied.
Aleta growled in annoyance. "Danas should be taught a lesson once in a while. Has Melvin never scolded Danas? It looks like he's going downhill because he thinks everything is fine. His life is safe and secure," Aleta exclaimed. She really couldn't accept the story told by Renata.
Renata lied that Danas had treated her harshly. She made her do something that she couldn't, so she got hurt. Renata also said that because of her injury she had to do her activities with difficulty and Renata didn't tell Melvin about it.
"Melvin really has to pay attention to his wife so that she doesn't always hurt you. Actually, Auntie was also afraid of Danas' presence in Melvin's house. People like Danas can do crazy things. I wouldn't be surprised if he's very rude to you," Aleta said.
Renata nodded her head with her eyes very sad. Then they both got into the elevator to go down to the ground floor.
They were both already carrying a lot of plastic and paper bags in their hands. Aleta turned to Renata. "Is there anything else you want to buy in this mall?" Aleta asked the woman in the yellow dress.
Renata actually still wanted to go around looking for more cute things. However, considering that they had brought this much plastic, Renata had to hold back that desire.
She shook her head. "No, Auntie. Both my hands are already full of plastic. Besides, I don't think there's anything I want to buy anymore."
Aleta shook her head. "Alright then, let's go straight home," Aleta said.
Renata nodded her head and smiled.
Then they waited for the elevator doors to open.
When it opened, Aleta and Renata immediately stepped out of the iron box.
"Actually, I still wanna tell you about Danas. But, I'm not sure if it's better to tell her or not." Renata was acting again.
Aleta tilted her face towards Renata. "What? Just tell Auntie. Don't hide anything. If you don't dare to tell Melvin. Tell Auntie." Aleta urged Renata to open her mouth and tell her about Danas.
"Okay, Auntie. I'll tell you this. So, during my stay at Melvin's mansion for those few weeks. Umm, how, yes, to tell it. I know that Melvin's mansion has a lot of servants, but seeing Danas who just lays around at home, eating, sleeping, and watching television sometimes makes me feel that it's not right. And he's only diligent when Melvin is around."
Renata glanced to her side. Checking the change in Aleta's expression as she demonized Danas.
Aleta's face hardened again with an angry look.
"I know an obgyn doctor. At that time she recommended pregnant women to move a lot for the baby's healthy growth. I told Danas that, but she didn't seem to care. Because in fact, she kept slacking off and didn't apply what I said."
"Does Melvin know this?" asked Aleta.
Renata shook her head. "Melvin always doesn't know this, Auntie. I didn't dare to tell him about Danas' bad behavior either. Melvin would have defended Danas, considering she was pregnant. Besides, Melvin already has a lot of servants in the mansion, surely Melvin wouldn't let Danas get tired, right?"
Aleta chuckled in annoyance. "But still, Danas doesn't deserve this."
