Danas' eyes widened when she saw who was calling her. "It's Melvin," Danas said a little panicked. Danas was afraid that Renata had complained to Melvin about the class earlier.
"What?" Davina then put down the tray she had been carrying, pulling Danas' hand out of the queue to order food. "Try taking the call first."
Danas looked doubtful, would Melvin get angry again?
"Take the call," Davina suggested. She couldn't bear it if Danas looked scared like this.
"Hello?" greeted Danas while looking at Davina.
"I'm in the parking lot," Melvin said directly without much ado.
"What do you want?" asked Danas with a furrowed brow.
"Pick you two up," Melvin replied.
"The two of us?" repeated Danas, not understanding the meaning of the word you guys.
"Yes, you and Renata. If I only pick you up, it's not fair to Renata. Even though you're pregnant with my child. But still, I couldn't bear to let Renata go home alone."
Danas could not refuse. Silent for a while, his heart wanted to say no, but, could Melvin be resisted? Inevitably, Danas answered, "Yes."
"Okay, you'd better hurry to the parking lot, I'm waiting."
"Okay," Danas replied, her eyebrows visibly lowered, still staring at Davina. While her stomach was already clamoring for food, but dealing with Melvin couldn't be delayed. "I'll go first," Danas excused himself to Davina. "He's waiting for me in the parking lot."
Davina stammered as she saw Danas leave immediately. "Are you..." Danas quickly disappeared from sight, as Davina was about to offer her some bread to fill her probably empty stomach.
Danas walked quickly towards the parking lot. Melvin's car parked right near the campus lobby. There was already Renata who was splashing with Melvin - the man then kissed Renata's cheek and forehead.
Danas was devastated to see her. She asked if Melvin could treat her nicely and sweetly just once? Not because she was pregnant, but because of Danas' personality.
Melvin then saw Danas who was standing while shielding her face from the heat.
"Danas! Come here," Melvin called while giving the code with his hand.
Renata rolled her eyes, still annoyed with Danas' behavior earlier. "Why did you call her?" Renata asked sarcastically, her voice rising.
"Because we're going home together," Melvin replied lightly and smiled at Renata.
"I don't want to!" Renata exclaimed firmly. "You can choose, if he's in that car, I'll go home alone."
Melvin couldn't believe it, "What?" how could he choose this.
Danas was getting closer and closer, and she also heard what Renata said. Moreover, there was an incident in class earlier, surely Renata was still annoyed to death with her.
Renata didn't want to answer, her face looked fierce. "My question is still the same, Melvin, choose her or me?"
"Come on, Renata... Danas is pregnant with my child, how could I let her go home alone. Besides, I drove myself to this campus anyway."
"Her or me, Melvin?!" snapped Renata, not wanting to know. She didn't want to look at Danas' face any longer.
Melvin grumbled for a long time, he couldn't stand having two women in his life. But, if asked to choose, Melvin couldn't choose. Danas was pregnant with his child, while Renata was the woman he loved.
"Let me take an online taxi home," Danas said, unable to bear the sight of a confused Melvin.
"That's good," Renata said sarcastically, getting into Melvin's car.
Melvin was left at a loss, looking at Renata after getting into the car. Meanwhile, Danas was about to turn around and leave.
But, Melvin stopped Danas' movement, pulling his arm.
"Wait for me here, I'll pick you up later after dropping Renata off."
Danas was of course hesitant, but the look in Melvin's eyes convinced Danas that he meant it.
" You've got to trust me, I'll be back here," Melvin said.
Danas nodded, "Okay," she replied.
Melvin didn't say much more. He quickly got into the car, where Renata was already waiting.
She looked still angry, unwilling to look at Melvin. Her hands were clasped together.
"I don't like it when you care too much about her," Renata said, still annoyed with Danas' attitude.
"She's my wife, after all, Danas is pregnant with my baby. You can't tell me to neglect the child in Danas' womb. Because she is my flesh and blood, my descendant, so I must protect my future child."
Renata sighed, because she wanted to be the only one in Melvin's life. But there was always Danas as an obstacle, not to mention earlier, Danas acted very sickening.
"But, you don't know what she did to me earlier. I was humiliated in front of the class just now," Renata cried ignorantly.
Fortunately, Melvin didn't really care about Renata's advances. Melvin thought, it was nothing that should be exaggerated. Moreover, from Christina's report this morning, Danas still looked so tired, so Melvin intended to pick him up.
Although last night Melvin had seen Danas' condition for a while. Melvin thought that at eight o'clock, Danas had already finished his coursework. If he looked so tired this morning, did Danas not sleep last night?
"I'll take you to the lobby of your apartment. Because I'm driving myself, and I've got to pick up Danas."
Renata snorted, whatever Melvin said could not be resisted anymore. In her heart, Renata wondered, when will Melvin return to his old self again? When Renata can control Melvin.
Renata is forced to accept what is now Melvin's terms. Even though she hated it, wanted to be angry and also felt neglected.
Melvin's car pulled up to the lobby terrace of a large apartment in Jakarta.
Renata was not willing to let Melvin just leave today. So before getting out, Renata asked Melvin something important. "Are you coming to my place tonight?"
"I don't know, I've got a meeting, besides I gotta keep an eye on Danas who's pregnant."
Danas again! Danas again! Renata grumbled to herself. Did Danas have to be removed from Melvin's life?
"Then let's go to your house," Renata suggested, not wanting to know.
"What for?" Melvin's forehead wrinkled, unable to understand Renata's current mindset.
"I'll just go there. So it's easy to meet you," Renata said without a care in the world, which was actually, she wanted to nag Danas.
After a while, Melvin got annoyed too, he sped up his car at high speed. The congested streets of the capital city didn't seem to be an obstacle for Melvin to drive his car. His hands didn't stop turning the steering wheel, weaving between the vehicles queuing up to keep going.
"Melvin, can you slow down?" Renata's hand held on tightly to the dashboard. Her eyes widened looking at the currently deserted street.
Melvin didn't answer, today Renata was annoying, that's what made Melvin annoyed. In no time, they had arrived at Melvin's house.
"Get down, hurry!" Melvin ordered. Without looking at Renata, in his heart he was only worried about Danas. If they could be together, Danas shouldn't have to wait long.
Renata couldn't say anything, she could only follow Melvin's orders.
The man was impatient to meet Danas, while driving, Melvin glanced at his watch. Surely Danas hasn't had lunch yet, he voiced.
So, when he arrived at the campus lobby, Melvin immediately looked for Danas' whereabouts.
"Danas, hurry to the parking lot," Melvin ordered on the phone.
Danas quickly went to the place Melvin was referring to.
The man greeted Danas with a smile. Danas smiled awkwardly too.
"Have you eaten?" asked Melvin worriedly, while turning the steering wheel.
"Not yet," Danas answered honestly, he really needed food right now.
"Then, let's stop by for a bite to eat," suggested Melvin.
Danas just smiled, who wouldn't like to be noticed like this?
Melvin took Danas to a pretty fancy restaurant. Ordered quite a lot of food.
"How's your pregnancy going?" Melvin opened the conversation.
"Fine," Danas replied. The waiter brought the food to the table.
Melvin watched as the waiter placed the food on the table one by one.
"This is a lot of food," said Danas, who was already full from looking at some of the menus.
"Don't you like it? Do you want something else?" asked Melvin, feeling bad seeing Danas's expression as if he was about to vomit.
"No, I don't. I just feel like it's too much. That's all."
"Is there anything you don't like?"
"No, I don't. I like all of these." Danas then began to eat one by one the dishes on the table.
"Slow down," Melvin said, seeing Danas in a hurry to eat her food.
Danas nodded without looking at Melvin. They then got busy with the dishes on the table. All this food was delicious. So, Danas happily ate it.
