Lucky Spin: Godly Programming Chapter 27

This kind of teacher did not exist in his first life back on Earth 1. Back then, his math teacher would even watch YouTube videos before teaching the class. The most foolish part was that she used the exact same examples from the video to create her questions. Jeff truly wondered how she had ever obtained a license to be a teacher with such limited capability. But now, his current teacher seemed like an evolved version of that former one. With that, the class ended, and some of his classmates were still amazed by what had happened earlier. "Hey bro, is the weather changing or something? How come you got smarter just by sleeping?" Andre Santos joked as he plopped down on the empty seat beside Jeff. "Hehe, just luck. I watched a YouTube video about it last night, so I was prepared when Teacher Lovella gave the question," Jeff said, giving a smug look like someone who was always one step ahead of time. "Yeah, right. Anyway, I wanted to ask, what was your technique for computing the percentage when you solved the simple and compound interest?" Arven said. "What was it again... Slicing.. Dining..." he uttered, trying to remember something. Thɪs chapter is updatᴇd by 𝗇𝗈𝗏𝖾𝗅✦𝖿𝗂𝗋𝖾✦𝗇𝖾𝗍 "Uhh, you mean the shift and slice technique?" Jeff furrowed his brows. Arven’s mind clicked as he nodded, "Yes, thats the one." "Sure, I’ll show you," Jeff replied without hesitation. He did not disagree, as the two of them were so close it felt like they were brothers who had been separated. Whenever one of them learned something new, they would always share it with each other. So Jeff taught him, since this technique was not really a secret. So Jeff leaned in and explained without holding back. "So It’s a shortcut called ’Shift and Slice.’ Basically, when you see a percentage like 2%, you just move the decimal two places to the left. So 2 becomes 0.02. And that’s about it. So you are not going to need a calculator or paper for that." Arven nodded, already following along, "So 5% becomes 0.05? 12% becomes 0.12?" When he said this, Jeff pointed at him, "Exactly. You just shift the decimal, then slice off the percent sign." "And when I’m dealing with messy decimals like 0.75% or multiplying stuff like 10,824.32 × 0.02, I break it into chunks. I turn them into whole numbers, solve them fast, then put the decimal back in the right place." "What?" Andre uttered in a confused manner. "It’s , okay, let’s say I’m multiplying something messy, like 10,824.32 × 0.02. Most people panic at the decimals, right? But here’s what I do." He grabbed a pen and flipped to a clean page in his notebook. "First, I remove the decimals to make it look cleaner. So I treat it as if I’m multiplying 1,082,432 × 2 just the whole numbers." "After I get the answer, I count how many decimal places I removed. In this case, 10,824.32 has two decimal places, and 0.02 has two more that’s four total decimal places." He wrote quickly as he spoke, "So let’s say I multiply them normally. 1,082,432 × 2 = 2,164,864." "Now here’s the trick I just move the decimal point four places to the left in the answer." He did the motion with his pen in the air, "So, from 2,164,864, move the decimal four steps to the left: 216.4864." "That’s your real answer: 10,824.32 × 0.02 = 216.4864." Arven’s eyes widened in utter amazement, "Bro... that’s crazy smart." "Not really. It’s just faster, and you don’t get confused with tiny numbers on the calculator screen. Just slice the decimals, do it clean, and bring them back after." Arven stared at him deeply, "Bro... are you a calculator now?" Jeff just laughed it off, "Nah. Just trying to be efficient." Arven grabbed his notebook and quickly scribbled down Jeff’s steps. "Alright, alright, let me try. So if I remove the decimals from 10,824.32 and 0.02, that gives me 1,082,432 and 2. Multiply those." He then solved the multiplication on paper, using a method completely different from how Jeff solved it in his mind. "Okay! I got 2,164,864." Jeff nodded, "Now count the decimal places you removed." Arven blinked, "Uhh... so 2 from the first one and 2 from the second, so that’s about 4?" "Right. Now move the decimal point four places to the left." Arven squinted at the paper, then jabbed his pen into the notebook. Jeff stared at him, totally caught off guard, "Bro, you moved it the wrong way! That’s like saying you only earned 2 pesos from eleven thousand!" Jeff chuckled and pointed, "Four places to the left means from 2,164,864 → it should be 216.4864, not 2.16." Arven groaned and slapped his forehead while laughing, "haha I know I was just joking with you," With that, Arven made some questions like how to solve this and this, and Jeff, of course, answered it making him wonder what kind of drugs his best friend Jeff had taken to become so smart. If Jeff had heard his thoughts, he would have laughed. The reason he was so skilled in math was because of his godly programming abilities. Ever since Jeff unlocked his Godly Programming Skill, numbers had started making more sense to him. Why? Because programming had trained his brain to see patterns, logic, and structure in everything, even in numbers. Because programming is math in disguise. Behind every function, every algorithm, and every calculation lies logic, patterns, and mathematical thinking. Whether it was percentages, conditions, loops, or even formulas, he now saw them as if they were lines of code it was clean, efficient, and, most importantly, solvable. When he writes the code, he’s basically teaching his AI how to think step-by-step. So when he looks at a math problem, he don’t just see numbers. What he saw was the logic flow. The ’if’, the ’then’, the ’else’. It’s just like debugging. And just like that, Arven had unknowingly stepped into the upgraded version of Jeff. After a few minutes of asking questions and solving problems, Arven was finally able to calculate percentages using only his mind. Although he was still a bit slow and his answers were sometimes right and sometimes wrong, the fact that his best friend picked it up so quickly showed his impressive learning ability. "Hey, thanks for teaching me just now. I didn’t know this problem was actually so easy to solve using your method," Arven said with a happy smile. Arven praised him as he hung his arms around his neck. "Haha, don’t mention it. Oh yeah," Jeff paused and looked at him. "Are you done with your research study? What’s your research title called?" he asked, clearly curious. Arven smiled mysteriously, "That’s a secret. It’s not really that good, but it’s not bad either. You could say our research study is just average," he replied. "What about yours?" Arven asked, turning the question back to him. "Oh, mine?" Jeff squinted his eyes and let out a small chuckle. "That’s also a secret. You’ll find out once the presentation starts." Seeing his calm expression made Arven even more curious. "Alright then, forget about the title. Are you done with Chapters One to Three?" he asked, spinning his ballpen in his hand like in an anime. "Yes, I’m done with Chapter 1 and 3 only some related studies and reading were remaining." "What? How come you’re so fast? Is sleeping earlier and being late all morning actually good for the brain?" he asked, a bit loudly. Jeff was about to respond when a soft, angelic voice sounded from behind them. "Um, Jeff... can you teach me when you’re done with Arven?" The question instantly silenced the two. When Jeff turned around, a stunningly beautiful girl came into view.
