Living Chapter 16

HENRY'S POV "Mom! Did you hear that?" I asked still dazzled by the fact I heard a call or maybe it was just an echo. "They're down there. We can get to them." My mom thought otherwise. She believed the werewolf would come to us so we waited. The shrubs behind us began to rattle and we turned clockwise to see what was coming. It was dark but I could make out eyes, bright yellow eyes and it wasn't one. It was two. Two boys probably in their early teenage years came out from the shadows. They were actually twins, identical twins. They both wore armless tops that looked a bit dismantled and dirty blue jeans which I could tell were not produced that way. My mother nudged me to spark since the only thing that transpired between us was an awkward glare and silence. It was a whole new experience for me and it was not like I was going to just put an air of superiority and make them mine. My wolf wanted to though. "Hi..." I tried, mustering a deep voice. "Alpha.", Was what they whispered to themselves. Honestly, I was beginning to see them as rabid beast who had lost contact with their humanity. Their eyes still glowed golden yellow. "Why did you call us?" One demanded. My wolf begged for release but I was good at keeping it locked inside me. Whatever it was going to do was going to ruin whatever my mother planned. Plus, I didn't know what to say. I thought it would be easy but it turned out it was a bit difficult. My mother refused to interfere and it was surely one of her "take hold of who you are" antics. It then occurred to me that we had something in common. They looked disheveled and hunted. It had to be because they were afraid. What could they be afraid of? "I've come to ask for your help in defeating a threat that ruined our lives." "What threat?" They questioned in unison. "Legolas." Their eyes grew pale and it returned to their normal hue. "You want to go against the man that almost exterminated us... Why? He'll end us...Finish the job he started." Where did the mysterious chums go? "Don't you want revenge?" I demanded, shocked that I could even cut two strangers who's capability I knew nothing of. "My father was killed by the same man and when I found out recently. All I had was the burning desire to end him. I am not a hyena who scavenges and runs. I am a wolf, an Apex predator and I don't run." My pep talk even motivated me. It wasn't me doing the talking. It was the monster that resided within me. Its talk renewed my burning desire to put Legolas in his place. "Are you with me?" I stretched my hands forward wanting to make an eternal pact with complete strangers. They reluctantly stretched forth theirs to meet mine. "To vengeance," I said and they repeated after me. I felt stronger, I felt complete, I felt like an alpha. KALIM'S POV I barged into the house leaving the door opened as chilly air escaped in. "Ravaii!" I spat to torment my father. Giving him a face like I knew everything. It seemed to be working and my dad broke to tears reaching to the ground like it was his solace. "I'm sorry son..." He mumbled. He murmured things like it was appropriate for his fault and Legolas who I knew as the leader of faebloods. I didn't want to blow my cover so I let him do the talking without probing him. "He killed your mother to stop a prophecy and there was nothing I could do." "Who?" I slipped. My father did not seem to notice because he told me who. "Legolas." My heart dropped and the whole room seemed to be heavily spinning. I joined my father on the floor, hot tears clouding my sight. "How?" FLASHBACK She ran praying that her magic would return. Legolas had chosen the perfect time to strike and she could not believe she ignored the signs and visions. Holding her swollen belly, she begged the fetus not to ruin their only chance for survival. Her family had been slaughtered and it took more than control for her not to lunge at the monster but it turned out he was not alone. She thanked nature for keeping her hidden as Legolas hawked around. The other person seemed to know where she was and pointed to her exact location. Feeling her aura, she knew it was a dark witch. Almost immediately, her water broke. Legolas rushed at her as quick as lightning, a deranged look in his glazed eyes. She would have run but the baby began to come out making any movement almost impossible not to talk of running. The sword went down but power suddenly surged through her. She flung Legolas with powers beyond reality. The witch with Legolas began an incantation. It seemed to affect the pregnant woman on the ground but no it was the baby. "I'll kill both of you anyway." Legolas snarled running a hand on his bearded chin. "No, you won't." The woman retorted and will a last push, a piercing cry filled the air. It would be a happy moment for the new mother but it killed her when Legolas' sword went from her child's heart. "No!" She yelled, her hair turning purple. A slash went and the woman held her neck feeling the crimson red liquid bottled inside leak out. Legolas began to walk away like nothing had happened. The woman brought her dead child closer and prayed for nature to revive him. Her hair turned purple once again and she touched the gash in the child's chest, Sparks escaping her fingers. The wound closed immediately and the child soon roused. Someone rushed from the woods with unnatural speed but stopped when he saw the woman on the ground with a critical condition. He kneeled to her, "Legolas did it. Didn't he?" The woman held the man's cheek, smearing it with blood. "Donald..." She said in a weak voice, each word making more blood spew more. "Protect him." Her hair turned pale and her eyes lost their sheen. Damian had to agree she was gone. He grabbed the crying child from her cold hands, his wife's hands. Roots immediately shot out from the dead body and soon, a sturdy oak tree stood right where his wife was. She was gone but he would keep her dying wish. He would protect his son even if it meant sparing the monster who did this. *** Everything seemed to make sense now. How I was working for the enemy, why my father was trying to protect me from discovering who I was. I needed to think. I rushed into my room. Worried about the different waves of emotion I suddenly felt. My whole world was crashing down. I was drawn to my window. I opened it feeling the chill of the after rain. I couldn't just live with this. Death was better. My room door swing opened and I turned to meet my father. He looked worried and it made me pity him. He had lost someone once and he was about to lose someone again, me. Without hesitation, I jumped down. The impact of the earth was unimaginable. I felt my skull crack on impact and I felt numb. The whole world was closing on me. I was going to her anyway, I said, encouraging myself as I breathed my last. AVERY'S POV Damian was packing some clothes. We had decided that although we were safe in the daytime in our house. It was another story at night. The faebloods were planning something huge at least their evil king was. Grabbing a few things and throwing them into my backpack, I took notice of my father's journal. I took it by intuition and ran my hands through the pages. I stopped at the page where a drawing was made. My Dad was a detailed artist and I could make out it was a glass skull. It was interesting and I read through. "The pandora skull. An artifact of immense power believed to be able to amplify supernaturals." I stopped reading immediately. "Damian, you have to see this." Damian stopped folding his clothes and came to meet me. I stretched the book for him to see. "It is said to apply supernaturals abilities," I said enthusiastically. Damian shook his head. "Your father tried to find it. It was renamed-hmm- Orvinus." " Why didn't he find it?" I queried. "He learned it was in the possession of the fae's, well before they disappeared." "So it could still be here?" "Maybe." Damian got back to packing. I couldn't concentrate. The skull was perfectly envisioned in my mind. If we could find the skull, it might just be enough to end Legolas and his reign of terror. Exactly!
