I never thought that helping one guy would change my life forever. I know that it isn't the best thing to say, but I really regret helping that boy back at the alley.
And by ‘boy,’ I meant Al. I swear, that guy has caused me nothing but trouble. And what’s worse is that there are two of them now.
"Gabby, don't forget to text us if you're running late!" Just as I went out of the house, my mother cried out from behind me. It's only because we had two guys as visitors the day before that she believes I'd start dating one of them.
Am I suppose to get used to this from now on?
When I got close to the bus stop, I noticed a car parked in front of our house. Tyrelle was staring at me through the rolled-down car window. "Gabriella, the killer smile, climb in."
I glared at him. "I told you to quit calling me," I said. I let out a tired sigh and shook my head. Why do I even bother?! It's not like they would listen to me.
I averted my eyes and shook hand dismissively at him. "I just want you to leave me alone. I'm not interested in being associated with you. I also have no desire to hitch a ride. I can walk to school all on my own." I began walking after saying this until I heard a fucking annoyance in the air.
"OH, GABBY POO~!"
I stopped in my tracks as I realized what that unpleasant omen was. The hairs all over my body stood in full alert. I quickly turned back, ran towards Tyrelle's sleek black sports car, and hopped in without a second thought.
With a harsh glare, I said, "Drive. Quickly!" I hissed again, this time in a more authoritative tone.
"As you wish." He said and started driving like a mad man to school.
When the other kids see us together, I know I'll have to face the consequences sooner or later. But for the time being, all I want to do is get away from my crazed hybrid stalker.
"I got permission from the school principal that you and I will be going out to eat lunch." He suddenly proposed out of the blue while I was busy gazing out of the window.
I shook my head and gave him a look like he was a lunatic. "What?!" I was fairly certain that my brows were furrowed in rage. After all, who is he to dictate where I eat?!
"You promised me, lady killer smile." He says while giving me a side glance.
"Please, never call me that in front of other people," I said, slumping on the car seat and hugged my backpack. "Just call me Gabriella. I don’t want the other kids to get the wrong idea if they hear you calling me killer smile."
"As you wish, Gabriella ki-"
"If you call me that, then I will call you Tyrelle the mutt." I threatened him.
"Alright, Gabriella. It's a deal."
Until we arrived at school, we rode in silence. Tyrelle agreed to drop me off at the entrance so that no one would spot us riding together. Tyrelle hesitated at first, but eventually agreed. After that, I had no idea where Tyrelle went, but I was certain that I would see him soon because we had our first period together.
When I got to my room, I discovered Tyrelle had already entered. I got puzzled for a moment, wondering how he got here before me.
Tyrelle, on the other hand, gave me a terse nod and waved his hand to grab my attention as soon as he noticed me. "Gabriella, I've saved a spot for you." He stated his case. The other kids in the room turned their heads towards me the instant he spoke. Others looked at me with astonishment, while others looked at me with envy and puzzlement.
This was not how I had planned to begin the day, but my day was already over when this guy and that crazy stalker entered my life. I lowered my gaze, not wanting to attract any more attention than I already had, and walked over to another empty seat in the room, away from the spot that Tyrelle saved for me. As I did, the crazy mutt moved into the empty seat beside me.
"I don't understand. The seats I reserve are better and with good ventilation." Tyrelle wrinkled his nose and made himself comfortable on his spot. “Perhaps you have a preferable visual angle when it comes to learning?” He wondered more to himself.
"I want you to stay away from me," I said whispered without looking at him. I opened a random textbook and hid my face over them.
Tyrelle stared at me. "What don't you like about me that you want me to stay away?"
I sighed and gave him an irritated look. "Do I have to spell everything to you!?" I hissed and flinched when a paper ball was hurled at me. Tyrelle and I looked back to see who the culprit was. A group of girls snickered when they met my gaze.
I let out a huffed breath. Great. A few minutes of being close to the new popular kid and I am already a target.
“Are you alright?” I heard Tyrelle asking me out of concern.
At that point, I turned to face him. As I kept his look, my eyes were tinged with annoyance. “Could you just stop talking to me? This is the reason why I don’t want you speaking with me.” I gestured at the rolled-up paper on the floor. “It will grow worse the more that they see us together,” I growled at him and pretended to read from my textbook. I know it wasn't fair of me to become upset with him, but I'm not fond of the extra attention he's bringing with him.
Tyrelle's gaze remained in my direction for a few more minutes before he collected the paper ball and stood up. I looked at him through the corner of my eyes as he marched over to the girls and handed them the crumpled paper.
What the hell is he doing!?
"Did one of you throw this?" He demanded.
"Why, of course not-"
"Stop lying to me. You think I’m blind?" He yelled and flung the paper at a red-haired female. "I'm sure you tossed it at her. Try to lie to me again, and you’ll lose your tongue." The redheaded girl appeared flushed with embarrassment. She remained silent and averted Tyrelle's enraged glare. Tyrelle had no idea how long he planned to terrorize the unfortunate females, but luckily, the professor arrived. Tyrelle returned to sit near me after noticing our professor.
"You didn't have to do that," I whispered, unsure of how to feel about the situation. It was the first time that someone stood up to me like that, and I had no idea whether to be grateful or annoyed at him for butting in.
Tyrelle cast a sidelong glance at me. "People who wish to bully the weak irritate me." He said and must have realized the meaning through his words because he immediately corrected himself, "It's not that I think you're weak; it's just-"
“It’s fine.” I cut him off without meeting his eyes. “Thanks, but if you could, just don’t do that again. I think you went overboard when you threatened to cut off her tongue.” I told him.
Tyrelle looked like he was about to say something more but was once again cut off when the professor called for our attention. "Mr. Gawen and Miss Bryce? Would the two of you like to share what you’re talking about?" The professor said.
Tyrelle and I exchanged a glance before turning to the professor and lowered our heads.
"I was just asking Gabrielle what page we were on," He answered and showed her his textbook as he turned the pages. “My apologies for the disturbance. Please continue.”
