The following day my mom and dad kept interrogating me about the broken window, which I couldn't tell them was caused by their favorite boy - Al.
"Mom, I already told you," I said.
My mom placed a hand on her hips. "You think your story about an idiotic bird running through your window would convince anyone?"
I forked on my eggs with much force as I could. I thought about stabbing Al later when I see him.
"Respect your eggs, young lady. It's all where we come from." Said my dad at the end of the table.
This is freaking annoying. If they only knew who caused that broken window!
I mean, I can't just tell them, ‘Hey, remember that stupidly pretend nice guy Al? Yeah him. He broke my window last time trying to be romantic. Please get your rifle and kill him.’
Yeah, right, I can tell them.
"Yeah, hey, I think I'm going to go now. Can't be late for school." I said and quickly got up from my seat and grabbed my bag. "Why not talk about this window thing later? Yeah? Bye mom, Bye dad." Before any of them could stop me from going, I ran out of the house.
When I arrived at school, I searched the area for any signs of Al. Fortunately, there was none. I couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.
As I walked inside, I couldn't help but notice that the students, particularly the girls, were buzzing around. I attempted to listen in to see what the fuss was about and why they appeared so giddy.
"Did you hear? There's a new senior student on the campus."
"Really? Who?"
"I don't know, but I heard he transferred from New York."
"Wow. Must be loaded."
"I hope he's hot."
"If it's a he."
That was all the conversation that I heard from the two girls walking in front of me.
So there's a new student at our school. News travels quickly, and I can't say I blame them. It's a little town, and the school is even smaller. Every single person on campus was familiar to us. I pity the new student because he or she will almost certainly be the new eye gem.
I arrived in my class and sat near the window, waiting for the arrival of the teacher. A few minutes later, the bell rang. As soon as the teacher entered the room, the kids took their seats. Now it's time to do some math. Again. I sighed and gazed out the window as if uninterested in the class.
"Alright, you lazy-nosey bastards. I guess you've all heard the news today." Said our teacher.
"No class today?" Someone joked.
"Corry, get out."
I noticed something moving by the trees. I scooted closer to the window to get a better look.
"Now, if all of you just shut the hell up. Can I let the new student in? As in right now?"
I squinted my eyes to get a better view of the figure. Once I did, I gasped.
"Everyone, here is the new student. Be nice. And that includes you, Brandon. And Erica, no flirting! I'm not just talking about the new kid. I'm talking about every guy in this room."
It was Aelfric. He's standing by the trees and looking up at me. Once he saw that I was looking at him as well, he waved. He was even sending out flying kisses in my direction. I grimaced and raised my middle finger at him.
"Well, what are you standing there for, new kid? Introduce yourself because I am not doing that for you."
I glared at Aelfric from the window and made a shooing gesture. ‘Get out.’ I mouthed.
He pouted.
I flipped him off again.
"My name is Tyrelle Gridon. It's a pleasure to meet you all."
"F$ck! He's hot!"
"I think I just found my soon-to-be groom."
"Yours? He's mine!"
A vein popped in my head when Aelfric started picking flowers even though a sign says 'don't pick flowers’. After that, he got up and offered them in my direction as he looked away and blushed.
WTF?!
"Okay, Mr. Gridon. Where would you like to sit?"
"Uhh....."
"F$&k YOU! PUT THOSE FLOWERS BACK WHERE THEY CAME FROM, YOU BASTARD OR SO HELP ME. I'M GOING TO PLANT YOU 6 FEET BELOW THE GROUND!"
"Miss Bryce!" I didn't realize that I actually said it aloud if our teacher hadn't called my attention. Slowly, I turned to face a raged-looking man with streaks of white hair over his natural brown ones.
I swallowed. "I-I'm sorry, sir..."
"Yes. Yes, you should be." He barked. "Now, if you would kindly take your seat, we can ask pretty boy here where he would like to sit." He said and pointed to a boy beside him. He was tall, lean, and handsome. His brown hair was styled neatly, and his silver eyes looked into mine before I looked away.
"S-Sorry," I said and immediately took my seat.
The teacher sighed at me and turned his gaze back at the new student. "Well, I guess this would end up like those teenage series where the new kid gets fascinated with a weird young lady and would ask to sit beside her?" I shifted in my seat.
He couldn't be talking about me, right? I’m not that weird.
Just then, the new kid, Tyrelle, returned his gaze to me for a few seconds, making me uncomfortable. After that, he turned to our teacher and said, "Actually, sir. If I may, I would like to sit as far away from her as possible." He said while stealing a gaze in my direction as the class erupted in laughter.
I shrunk back in my seat with embarrassment as I thought of killing this Tyrelle guy a thousand times in my head.
The class ended without me going into humiliation again. Thank God.
I guess part of me ignoring Aelfric helped. The new kid has been solving every problem our teacher gave us, which put him in a good mood and dismissed us without homework.
I guess this isn't such a bad day after all.
Of course, it couldn't get any better since I just bought the last slice of pizza for lunch.
I headed for our usual table with a tray in hand. Julie wasn't here yet, so I decided to be a loner and eat my lunch first. While I was eating, I let my eyes roam around the school cafeteria and saw the new kid going from table to table as if he was asking for some direction.
When he got to the cheerleaders’ table, he got pulled in as the girls fired up their interrogations and requirements for the following popular guy in school. Well, I can't see why not. He is good-looking.
I continued to munch down on my lunch and wondered where Julie was. Maybe she got held up in class or something. But really, this isn't like her to be running this late for lunch.
I think five minutes have passed, and I was still eating alone when suddenly, someone sat on the chair reserved for Julie. I looked up to see who it was.
It was the new kid.
