“Who says she’s dead? She just hasn’t shown herself for many years.” The red-robed woman harrumphed. “Besides, love and beauty will persist even if she passes away. It only means that there’s a chance for worshipers like us to become a universal deity.”
Zu An nodded. By now, he understood that every universal deity represented a different path. The daos had existed before the universal deities came into being; the latter merely represented the end of their respective paths.
A universal deity’s death merely meant that the highest entity on their respective path had vanished, but the path itself still existed. It was just a question of which worshiper would reach the endpoint first and become the new universal deity.
“So, which universal deity do you worship?” the red-robed woman asked out of curiosity.
“The Deity of Memory,” Zu An replied. The Deity of Chaos and Enigma sure is pitiful. Their worshipers have to pretend to be other universal deities’ worshipers lest they get pummeled.
The red-robed woman immediately became vigilant. “I forbid you from recording my ugly sides.”
“Didn’t you say we’re friends? I wouldn’t record a friend’s ugly sides,” Zu An replied with a smile.
The red-robed woman finally smiled. “You’re a decent lad. You’re much more interesting than those companions of yours.”
Zu An knew she was referring to other Deity of Memory worshipers. Worried that he would give himself away if this conversation persisted, he changed the topic and asked, “How do you know my world’s language?”
Employee 9527 had mentioned that only he had the translator because he was in charge of these guests. The guests were relying on their own methods to communicate. The wheelchair bound old man and the black-robed old woman didn’t understand his language, but after seeing how weak he was, they couldn't be bothered to learn.
“Fluttering Baldie taught me,” the red-robed woman replied with a grin. Her eyes were curved into crescents, making her look exceptionally beautiful.
Zu An was confused.
“You dumbo. It’s that translucent being.” Firework put her hands on her waist and harrumphed.
“Is that your nickname for him?”
“That’s his own name!”
Zu An nearly burst into laughter. He wouldn’t have expected that balding translucent fellow to have such a name. But again, it wasn't long ago that he'd met ‘Unblind Zuoqiu’ too. People in the Myriad Worlds weren’t particular about their names. Names like ‘Firework’ appeared to be the convention.
“Does he know a lot of languages?” Zu An remembered how the other party had conversed with him through telepathy, looking extremely enigmatic.
“Of course! He’s a Deity of Knowledge worshiper, pursuing all knowledge and wisdom. Fluttering Baldie specializes in languages. It’s not just limited to your world; there is practically no language he doesn’t know in the Myriad Worlds.” Firework assessed Zu An’s room layout as she replied.
Zu An was surprised. He hadn’t expected the balding middle-aged man to be so formidable. Employee 9527 had just told him that the Universal Conglomerate’s translator only supported the languages of mainstream civilizations, but the balding middle-aged man knew all kinds of remote languages!
He remarked, “Brother Baldie is incredible.”
“He’s not that amazing.” Firework casually sat on a table and shook her legs. “The hair of the Deity of Knowledge’s worshipers becomes sparser as they advance their cultivation. Knowledge and wisdom are highly demanding on brain power, so they need to channel every bit of their energy to support their brain. Hair follicles, which compete for nutrition, are useless to them.”𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
Zu An was speechless. No wonder he looks like those 996 programmers.
“You should have noticed the circle of hair around his head. He hasn’t reached the highest level. You have to tread carefully if you encounter a Deity of Knowledge worshiper with no hair. You won’t be a match for them,” Firework warned.
Zu An nodded as he took her reminder to heart. He remembered his earlier quandary and asked, “May I know how you convinced him to teach you our language? Do worshipers of the Deity of Knowledge seek to sow the seeds of wisdom and knowledge?”
“That’s impossible. Why don’t you get that cripple and old hag to ask him and see if he teaches them? The Deity of Knowledge’s worshipers are the stingiest people you’ll ever know. Whomever knows more gets to advance, so why would they go around spreading knowledge?” Firework puffed up her chest gleefully. “He taught me because I’m adorable and beautiful. No one across the universes doesn’t appreciate beauty. That’s why I’m advising you to embrace the Deity of Love and Beauty.”
Zu An was stunned. How am I supposed to learn that? Fluttering Baldie might have a peculiar appearance, but based on our previous encounter, he’s clearly a man. There’s no way he would be seduced by me. It doesn’t matter how handsome I am.
“Do you know the other two’s background? They don’t look easy to get along with.” Zu An recalled the animosity emanated by the other two, particularly the wheelchair-bound old man. He figured that he needed to be guarded against them.
Employee 9527 couldn’t go against his professionalism and privately reveal other guests’ personal information. It was fortunate that Zu An had bumped into this red-robed woman.
“That old hag is revolting. She is the very antithesis of our Love and Beauty Dao. I can’t be bothered to comprehend someone as disgusting as that. She probably specializes in poison, and those pustules are probably the side effects from dabbling with poisons.” Firework looked so disgusted that it looked as if she would puke if she said a single word more.
“As for that cripple, he’s probably Deity of Annihilation worshiper. He gives off an air of desolation as if he’s going to destroy the world. Those people are lunatics.” Firework shook her head. “There are so many beautiful things and people in the world, yet they want to destroy everything. Ridiculous!”
She turned to Zu An and said, “I heard you offended him. You’re dead meat. The Deity of Annihilation’s worshipers are vindictive. It might be inconvenient for him to make a move against you on the Universal Conglomerate’s spaceship, but he might go after you as soon as you move from here. But again, Annihilation worshipers don’t follow common sense. He might just find a chance to assault you on the spaceship. You should tread carefully.”
Zu An’s heart was chilled, but having weathered many storms, he didn’t fluster. He continued calmly, “This isn't my first time crossing paths with an Annihilation worshiper. He can come at me if he wants to.”
Firework clapped. Her eyes twinkled in glee. “Such manliness! I love it!”
Zu An was speechless.
Had it been another man, he would have been seduced by her beauty and incredible acting skills, but he'd dealt with his fair share of demonesses and temptresses. He could tell that she was putting on an act right now. Even if she was a Deity of Love and Beauty worshiper, there was no way she would treat him so well just because he was good-looking.
Firework suddenly added, “It’s too dangerous to make an enemy out of an Annihilation worshiper. It’d be best if you can resolve your grudge in advance. I heard that cripple is just jealous of your Wonderpoint World. Why don’t I talk to him on your behalf and tell him the way to obtain a Wonderpoint World, so he can give up on it?”
Zu An scoffed on the inside. So you’re after my Wonderpoint World. Thus, he feigned ignorance and asked, “Is a Wonderpoint World very special? Don’t the rest of you have one too?”
Awkwardness flickered across Firework’s face. “It is indeed special. Wonderpoint Worlds have many spatial rifts that allow them to swiftly connect to lost worlds. Every lost world is a fortuitous encounter. Aside from that, Wonderpoint Worlds are also absolutely safe. It is impossible to breach a Wonderpoint World without its master’s permission. That cripple wouldn’t have been able to get to you, but now that you have left your turf, it’s a different story.”
