“What do you mean by that?” Zu An asked.
“The situation you have described is the result of a special world law. Being the master of the world grants you control over its world laws, but you are unable to rewrite them. You can directly rewrite them once you become strong enough, thus saving your friend. Most people struggle to reach that level, however, which is where the difficulty lies,” Employee 9527 said.
“That said, the Myriad Worlds are a huge place. You don’t have to reach that level yourself. You don’t even require the help of a universal deity; there are experts beneath them capable of that feat as well. Otherwise, you can also achieve the same effect through the use of a treasure.
“Still, you’ll need luck to stumble upon an expert of that caliber, and even so, you’ll likely have to pay a hefty price to solicit their help. That’s why I said it can be both easy and hard.”
Zu An nodded, having understood what the other party was saying. He asked out of curiosity, “May I know how power levels are classified in the Myriad Worlds? How strong of an expert do I need to find to save my friend?”
“There are countless worlds and civilizations in the Myriad Worlds. Your world has its own standards for classifying cultivation levels, but the names and standards can be very different in another world. Besides, abilities can complement and curb one another—an expert in one world can be curbed by a weak ability in another world. Who’s to say who is stronger?”
Zu An frowned. This made things tricky.
“A simpler evaluation method gradually arose as civilizations interacted, such as planet level, star level, galaxy level, and universe level... It measures the rough extent of one's destructive prowess. Beneath planet level are the weaker cultivators in each civilization. In the context of the Myriad Worlds, they are all ants. You’re roughly at planet level right now.
“But these distinctions are vague and inaccurate. The Myriad Worlds is huge, as I have said before. Through the use of mystical artifacts or special abilities, a planet level can defeat a star level.”
Zu An knew Employee 9527 was consoling him, but he didn’t pay it much heed. His fighting style was indeed reliant on special abilities. He wondered where the celestials in the ancient era fell in this classification method.
“How strong would one have to be to rewrite the world laws trapping my friend?”
Employee 9527 pondered before replying, “That’s hard to say. Some people are strong but lack in their grasp of laws. Some people are weak but specialize in this field. I’m also not sure how strong the law is, as I have never been to the place you mentioned. However, I reckon star level should be enough...”
“Are there different strengths to world laws, too?” Zu An asked.
“Of course! Stronger worlds are bound to have stronger spatial laws than weaker worlds. The gap between planet levels can sometimes be larger than the gap between a planet level and a star level,” Employee 9527 explained.
Zu An recalled his understanding of the world from his previous life and nodded in realization. Many planets in the universe were as large as stars, but they didn’t metamorphose into stars because they lacked something critical or needed more time to build up. These planets could be thousands of times larger than other ordinary planets.
“I have answered your three questions. Just on time. We’re reaching our destination soon.” Employee 9527 got up and controlled the boat using his formation disc.
A white light flashed ahead of them, and an entrance appeared.
Zu An was surprised. He was certain there had been nothing ahead of him earlier. He probably wouldn’t have noticed anything amiss even if he flew past this area countless times.
As the boat entered the door, their surroundings suddenly lit up. They transited from pitch-black space into a vibrant world with a blue sky, white clouds, and warm sunlight. This world had no ground, or perhaps the clouds were the ground.
A massive ship floated above the clouds. It was so majestic that it made the boat they were riding appear like a little dinghy. What surprised Zu An was that the ship resembled the spaceships he had seen in his previous life’s sci-fi movies, just that it looked even more streamlined and high-tech. Its black metallic body gleamed with a brilliant luster, and there was a huge image on it that appeared to be the Universal Conglomerate’s logo.
Zu An’s instinct told him that the ship had terrifying offensive prowess, and that it wouldn’t be a good idea to make an enemy of it.
Employee 9527 tapped on the formation disc. A hole appeared beneath the massive spaceship, and a brilliant light shone on their boat.
Zu An’s surroundings blurred as the boat was sucked into the massive ship. The first thing he saw inside was a dock, with many boats in place. Uniformed staff members had their hands full inspecting the boats.
Zu An was perplexed. “Why are there such huge differences in the boats?”
Some looked to be built in the feudal era, whereas some were high-tech spaceships. It was bizarre seeing them side by side.
“Our Universal Conglomerate deals with all kinds of civilizations across the universes, including those specializing in technology and magic. To cope with different potential risks, we don’t limit our arsenals to just that of a single civilization, or else it would be disastrous if we encounter one that happens to curb it,” Employee 9527 replied smoothly. Clearly, Zu An wasn’t the first guest to have asked this question.
Zu An was surprised. “Are there civilizations that are completely immune to technology or magic?”
“The universe is huge. There will always be enemies beyond your imagination. For instance, your Cultivation World has ghosts and apparition entities that are immune to physical attacks,” Employee 9527 explained grimly. “Since we operate across universes, there is no harm in being more prepared.”
Even an organization as huge as the Universal Conglomerate had such great respect for the Myriad Worlds. Zu An’s expression turned even more severe as he prayed that his luck wouldn’t be too bad.
“Follow me.” Employee 9527 led Zu An into the spaceship. They first passed through an automatic door that verified their identity, followed by several lifts. Along the way, Employee 9527 asked out of curiosity, “Hm? Based on what I know, your Cultivation World has never come into contact with a technological civilization before. You seem rather nonchalant about all these things, as if you are already used to it.”
