The semester had been a very stressful one. But it was finally coming to an end. I will be writing my last paper today, and it was a tough one, Law of Evidence. But, I have been reading for this since the start of the semester, so I was feeling pretty confident.
Yes, I am a Law student, a third year Law student, and I had just moved out of the school hostels. Thankfully. My stay in the school hostel was hell. Yes, I said it. Pure hell.
It could not have been that bad, I’m sure you are thinking. But, believe me, for me, it was hell.
From the day I wrote my entrance exam, I had already started dreaming of how college life would be, and I couldn’t wait to start. I started packing from the day I received my acceptance letter. Oh, I couldn’t have been more excited.
I am the second child of my parents. My parents had just three kids. Thank God for small mercies, because I can’t begin to imagine what life would be like if they had had more kids. I love my brother and sister, but they can be very annoying at times. Well, most times.
My elder sister Katlyn is four years older than I am, and reminds me of it every chance she gets. I was really glad when she went off to college, I am not saying I wasn’t going to miss her, because I was, I did, and I still do. But, I was glad that I was finally going to live my life without her constant criticism and nagging.
My younger brother Kaden is A-N-N-O-Y-I-N-G. Don’t get me wrong, I love him, but he can be a real pain in the neck, and it is only getting worse. He just hit puberty, and has been an absolute pig since. He never washes his dishes, or his clothes, and he leaves his dirty clothes lying all around the house.
Don’t get me started on his room, it is a complete disaster, a pig sty if I were to say. Well, it is befitting, seeing as he has been behaving and eating like a pig. He eats a lot, a lot! Sometimes more than five times in a day. What’s worse? He leaves his plates and leftovers in his room, and they just sit there rotting away. He never makes his bed, and he has dirty socks scattered all around, and they smell like a cow’s butt. Not that I have ever gotten a whiff of one, but I am pretty sure they would smell as bad as his socks.
He’s just fifteen, and I am four years older than he is. But, he refuses to acknowledge that I am older, never gives me the respect I deserve. Well, I have gotten used to it, so it doesn’t bother me anymore. But I still love my brother anyway.
My parents? Well, mom is a doctor, and dad is a district attorney. They are pretty much busy all the time. We live in the suburbs of Berkeley in San Francisco, in a big, modern house, five bedrooms and all. Growing up, we had everything we needed. Well, that if you don’t count the attention of our parents.
I got my first car when I turned sixteen, it was a birthday present slash graduation gift. It is a red 2018 McLaren 570S Spider. She’s my baby, I call her Karla. Don’t judge, there’s a special bond between a girl and her first car.
One more thing, my name is Katherine. Yes, Katherine with a K. My parents were trying to coordinate all our names. My dad’s name is Kyle, my mom is Kiara, and we are the Kingston’s. Oh, if you have not guessed this already, I am nineteen years old.
Anyway, enough about me, let’s get this story going.
