I woke up the next morning to my alarm at 8. The new pack members were coming at 9 and I had to be ready to greet them all. I grab a pair of dark jeans and a button up shirt. I slide a white tank top on then the shirt over it, and I leave the shirt open. I make sure I look decent before walking downstairs. I see my father with his Beta, Greg and his Delta, Stephen. When I become Alpha I will get to choose my Beta and Delta. Good thing I've already chosen mine. I walk over to them. "Are they on their way?" I ask my father. He nods. "They will be here in less than an hour. I sent Ed and Pat with the buses to get them." I nod and look down at my watch. 8:20. "Heath, do you believe your mate will be among these few?" I stiffen at Stephan's question. I look at him. "I don't know. I hope so, but maybe not.. I won't get my hopes up." I say, shrugging. He nods, and I sigh. I really did hope to find my mate among these new pack members. It's been way to long of a wait. I need my mate, and I need her so I can take over my Alpha position and have someone to care for. I sit and listen as my dad discusses how the ceremony will work for the new members. Every new member must go through the ceremony that makes them an official member of the pack. It's a weird process, but only those 13 and older have to take it.
I hear my father's phone go off and look up from my phone as he talks to the person. He nods to me and I stand. They were here. I hear the buses pulling up and I smile. My dad gets off the phone. "Let's go greet our new packmates." He says with a smile. I nod and I follow him out with Greg and Stephan close behind. I see the 2 large buses parked in front. Each can hold about 40 people so they had plenty of room. People start getting out. I see every one of them with sad looks. I stand with my father on the stage as they come into the meeting building. The whole pack is here so I can't find different scents. I can't tell if my mate is here or not. I stand to the side and watch as the last of the people walk in.
My mom and sister come up and stands beside me as my father starts speaking. "Hello everyone. We welcome you to Black Diamond pack. I am Alpha Grey Michelson, this is my mate Amber, my daughter Michelle, and my son and the future Alpha, Heath." I look around the room as he introduces us. All eyes are on me. I look at all the new members and my eyes land on a girl with beautiful green eyes. She's staring at me still as my father explains the room situations. I can't take my eyes off her. I watch as the man beside her nudges her shoulder, braking our eye contact. I frown and look back to my father. "You will be shown to your rooms, and children will be introduced to their new adoptive parents. Form a line and come to the desk up front for information." He steps down from the stage then and I follow him to the desk. I watch the people form a line. I wanted to meet that girl, she intrigued me. "Alright who's first?" My father asks with a warm smile. I sit beside him and start helping.
Each person is given someone from the pack to walk them around and give a tour. My mother took the orphan children to introduce them to their new families, while my sister stayed with me. I hear a growl and look up to see a guy staring at my sister. His eyes tell me she is his mate. He looks to be around the same age as her. I stand with a growl as he starts walking closer. "You wait till we get your name kid. That's my sister, I suggest you watch it." I warn. He bows his head in submission and nods. "Sorry Alpha." He says. My sister slaps my arm and I smile. "Name's Heath, not Alpha yet." I hold my hand out and he smiles before shaking it. "Darian. Darian Russell." I nod and look down at the papers. "I think my little sister can take it from here." I say, handing her the form that had his information on it. She smiles at me before running around and grabbing his hand to lead him away. I look at my dad and see him glaring after them. "It'll be fine dad." I say, laughing. He nods and turns his attention back to the line of people.
I let him give out the papers and I say hi to people as they come up. I stiffen when I smell an intoxicating scent. It smelt of roses and sugar. I look around and stop when my eyes land on the girl I had been staring at before. She is standing with the same man, but she looks to be no older than 16. I frown. She's next. I look over and take the papers from my father. He looks confused but I shrug and smile. The man comes up with the girl behind him. "Name?" I ask with a smile. "Anthony Simms. This is my daughter Violet." He tells me. I nod and find the papers for both on them. I look it over. She's only 15?! I hand the papers to my dad and stand. "I'll take you both around." I say, making my father give me a weird look. I just smile and he shrugs. "Have fun." He says. I look at Anthony and Violet. "Follow me." I say. Anthony nods. He looks broken. His mate must have died in the battle.
I glance at Violet who hasn't said a word. She has beautiful long brown hair and she's really skinny, more so than she should be for someone her age. "So how do you like it here so far?" I ask them as I walk around the house. "Everyone is very kind to us. I didn't expect so many to be this welcoming." Anthony tells me. I smirk. "We understand what you've gone through. Our pack once went through something similar to your attack. We didn't loose as many however." I explain. He nods and I see sadness in his eyes. "My mate died in the battle.." He says quietly. I don't say anything. I hear a sob and look to see Violet turn and run into the forest. "Violet!" Her father calls after her. I stop him as he is about to run after her. "I'll go. Stay here, you don't know that forest yet." I look over and see Michelle with her mate. "Michelle!" I call for my sister. She runs over. "What is it?" She asks. "Can you take Anthony around. I'll be back." She just nod and I run off after Violet.
