She was really very nervous. It seemed that Aunt Roberta noticed that she is tense because she hold Emily’s hand and slightly squeezed it.
“Relax, Emily. My boss don’t bite.” Aunt Roberta said while grinning and wiggling her eyebrows. Emily felt a bit relaxed and shook her head. Sometimes Aunt Roberta acts weird she thought.
They get out of the car and went inside the mansion. Emily look up on the bizarre mansion in front of her. It is bigger now that she is near it. When they are on the front door a child on Emily’s estimate is more or less 2 years old approached the old lady. He has brown hair and fair skin. But what caught her attention was his pouty lips same as hers. She suddenly felt weird. She feels some strange emotions towards the child. The moment she saw him, she has this strong feeling, the need to hug him.
“Granny!” the child squeaked as he ran for his life towards Aunt Roberta who immediately hugged him.
“Oh, my little Rick.” The old lady said as she lovingly carried the child. Emily did not notice that she was smiling while looking at the little boy.
“Mommy!” To Emily’s surprise the child said while looking at her. He quickly went down and free himself from Aunt Roberta and ran towards her. Emily was shocked when the little boy hugged her. She felt really glad and hugged Rick back without noticing that she is in tears. She really have no idea what she is feeling at the very moment the child hugged her. She never felt that way before and Emily finds it very weird.
“Honey, she is not your Mommy. She is your new Nanny.” Aunt Roberta corrected. But the child just shake his head very hard. Letting Aunt Roberta knows that he strongly disagree.
“No, she is Mommy!” The child said while frowning and brows furrowed. He looks so angry. Aunt Roberta laugh with the child’s reaction. Emily and the other helpers also laugh because of the cute and adorable child’s reaction. They were interrupted by a helper who approached them.
“Who’s Emily Palm?” the maid asked.
“Me, it’s me. I am Emily Palma.” I answered while raising my right hand to get her attention.
“Boss is waiting for you in the office. Please come with me, I’ll guide you. “The woman said and turned her back. I quickly followed her while waving goodbye to Aunt Roberta and Rick. The child’s face seemed confuse while looking at me who is now following the lady who will lead to my boss’ office. Aunt Roberta whispered to Rick and I saw the child nod his head. The last scene I saw was they were going somewhere Aunt Roberta was holding the child’s hand. I suddenly felt heavy seeing Rick gone.
We went upstairs and head to the east wing of the mansion. I can’t help but admire view in front of me. There are paintings hanging on the wall. Emily has a little knowledge about arts and paintings and she knew all of those were really expensive. She saw a portrait of a couple. The woman was so pretty, she is obviously a Filipina. She has a very angelic face, she was sitting on a very expensive and elegant looking chair and the man standing beside her is really intimidating yet so handsome. He has a very familiar eyes which makes Emily’s head feel a little sting of pain.
“That was boss’ parents Mr. and Mrs. Altagracia.” The woman said when she noticed Emily stopped in front of the portrait. Emily did not answer she was massaging her head to ease the little headache she felt. She wonders why she suddenly felt a headache maybe because of the weather or the travel.
“Are you okay?” the woman asked when she notice that Emily was massaging her head and did not move reacting. The woman approached her when she did not get any answer from Emily. She worriedly touched Emily. She felt a little fine after a few seconds and smiled to the maid to assure her that she is all right.
“I’m fine. Sorry about that. I suddenly feel a little headache. Maybe because of the trip.” Emily said with an assuring smile.
“What was your name again?” Emily asked.
“Oh, I’m sorry that’s so rude of me. I haven’t introduced myself yet. I am Cecile.” The woman said.
“Nice to meet you Cecile.” Emily said while offering the woman a handshake which she quickly accept.
“Likewise, Emily. Relax, I think you’re nervous. Boss Fede is a really good man.” Cecile said.
After they passed on four doors, Cecile stopped on the fifth door on the east wing of the mansion.
“We are here, Emily. Good luck, you can do it” Cecile said while giving Emily her very sweet and assuring smile and raised her fist. Emily laughed and raised her fist imitating Cecile. She then waved her hand to Emily before she turned around and went downstairs.
Emily took a deep breath and knocked on the door three times. She then heard a baritone voice speak inside the room. Which made her knees weak.
“Come in.” Said the man inside with a voice full of authority. Emily gulped before opening the door. She saw a man with his back on her. He was facing the window behind his desk. He was so tall above six feet. He has a wide back which is obvious that is a result of frequently working out. His hands are both on his pocket.
“Good morning, Señorito.” Emily said and she wants to congratulate herself for not stuttering.
But her world stops as the man turned around to face her. He has this very serious face. When their eyes met Emily felt an intense pain on her head. She feel like her head was being hit by a thousand hammer. She could not bear the pain and before she fell the man quickly held her. Before she went unconscious she felt his strong arms wrapped around her body and heard him shout asking for help.
“Miss are you all right? Help, Aunt Roberta!” That was the last thing Emily knew before darkness consumed her.
